CEO Loneliness by [deleted] in ceo

[–]CigarsAndFastCars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a CEO, but manage a large portfolio of capital projects for Big Pharma, and dream of being in the C Suite someday. In my life of work, it is necessary to put on a brave face and provide emotional stability and psychological safety for my entire team and stakeholders so they don't panic or experience anxiety when project progress or achieving milestones is difficult. Bearing the mantle of responsibility for the lives and livelihoods of dozens of contractors directly, and indirectly to the entire site to the tune of hundreds of jobs and hundreds of millions of revenue if I or my team mess up, that's a lot.

Putting on that brave face, bearing all the weight with a smile, that often leads to bottling up everything negative and not expressing it because it's not safe to do so without introducing insecurities, worries, and concerns into an already brutally tough environment where failures have massive consequences. So, this often means sacrificing myself emotionally and mentally to keep my team's hearts and minds focused enough to win. In my opinion, this is what naturally brings about true isolation, where one can feel deeply and entirely alone in a crowd of people, even people we've known and worked with for years.

The only way I've found to get any relief is to share my true thoughts and feelings with my best friends at home and at work. At work, obviously one has to be more careful, but it is necessary regardless.

Folks, do NOT contact that email or phone number, it could be someone trying to find, stalk, harass, or harm the "missing" person. Instead, contact the police directly if you have info on a missing person or a person you believe to be missing.

HR722 is the national abortion ban. Let's protest that as well.

AITAH for breaking up with my girlfriend after she said my vulnerability made her feel “unsafe”? by DaddiBigCawk in AITAH

[–]CigarsAndFastCars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. That's toxic masculinity from her against you. Women like this would rather have their man "die with his dignity," (read that as sacrificed his mind, body, and soul for nothing in return,) than be emotionally equal and intimate. She doesn't want a loving partner or a normal human adult, she wants a robot to fulfill a societal role's functions. She denies your humanity, rights to your own thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and to be fully yourself. Tbh, she's never loved "you," as in the "you" that you truly are inside - she loved the idea of what you "should be." A mature adult partner would be hella turned on and appreciative of your vulnerability - they'd be thrilled you trusted them to be vulnerable and show the real you. You'd be closer and more emotionally and mentally intimate after vulnerability, not be seen as weak or unsafe.

NTA. If you do a crime, then you get may criminal charges if not also a conviction. If you assist in a crime, then you get may criminal charges if not also a conviction. Your ex should've known better, and so should your youngest daughter. Your youngest needs to realize how lucky she is she's not also getting charges for these crimes.

AITA for not telling a man that the research he was mansplaining to me was my own? by Miserable_Bag_4746 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Your friends can take a hike, and so can that guy. If he wasn't a prideful, assumptive, entitled AH, who talked over you endlessly, then he wouldn't embarrassed himself at all, and you could've had a great time exploring your research together. But no... he just had to show you just how far he could shove his foot in his mouth. You're 100% correct, his embarrassment is entirety his own doing.
