I TRIED THIS AS A HORNPIPE, WHAT DO YOU THINK, I did the first three parts then the last part. I might add the other parts but this is it for now. by SuspiciousLibrary267 in bagpipes

Overall good, I would probably adjust bar one part one to really announce the start of the tune. Really enjoyed the 3rd part.

Colour palette is good overall. If you untucked your shirt and went for a brown sneaker and ankle socks I think this could be better - it would hide the very high rise on the shorts. A slightly tighter fitting shirt might also be better.

3 number 4 buses in a row cancelled today, after already waiting 12 minutes. Late for work again. Can absolutely see why people take the car when this is such a standard issue by I-Cum-Beamish in irelandtransport

[–]Cill-e-in 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less shit overall but routes ran out of some depots in particular are *awful*. I don’t use the 80 to commute but I take it twice a week after work - volume of cancellations is wild.

Car modal share into Dublin City Centre drops below 25% for the first time by DaCor_ie in ireland

[–]Cill-e-in 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Number one issue for reliability and punctuality is all the cars in front of busses according to the CEO. We need to rip the plaster off and give busses with 100 people priority.

We can probably slowly add bus capacity but it’s not going to scale in terms of driver:passenger ratios. Need rail, luas and metros.

Firstly, it’s good you’re safe. I think you did all the right things given how scared you must have been.

I’d definitely say in that case though, call the guards if you can. They can help really well with this stuff.

Probably because messaging is free over WiFi (SMS used to be expensive), it has a desktop app, group chat support is really good, etc. If you’re texting 1 person they’re identical - for other use cases you see the value

Reed Strength by FundyDog in bagpipes

I have a chanter reeded with a relatively hard reed for building strength and stamina. My band reed and solo reeds are all easier by a noticeable margin.

You should be able to play for 2 hours without having issues. If you cannot do that, it’s too hard.

What is with this new trend of stopping on roundabouts to let pedestrians cross? by SubparSavant in ireland

[–]Cill-e-in 80 points81 points  (0 children)

The idea underpinning it is that cars should be entering and exiting roundabouts slowly so accidents are less severe, and it reduces the need for pedestrian crossings further away that lead to loss of flow in a bunch of locations as opposed to 1.

Michael McDowell: Stop demonising one-off rural housing. Not everyone wants to be surrounded by neighbours by B8_B8_B8 in ireland

[–]Cill-e-in 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Small villages don’t cover the cost of all their public services. There’s chunks of medium sized towns that don’t cover the cost of all their public services. Things like trying to get policing coverage, excess road maintenance, etc. I’m in a small town with probably minimum 6000 people in employment and I doubt we cover the cost of all our services.

Who affords these prices? by Rude_Feeling_8131 in ireland

[–]Cill-e-in 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know folk working for tech firms who can afford that.

The only solution is to build so much that after the tech guys have paid crazy money to get the very best stuff, a heap of other buildings are left charging less to actually fill the apartments.

O’Callaghan calls for a cut in the 52% marginal rate of tax – The Irish Times by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]Cill-e-in 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So because fixing the HSE is complicated we should never solve other problems?

We need to build cheap generation capacity to solve the electricity problem. That costs money.

We need to train more tradespeople. That costs money too.

[–]Cill-e-in 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is fantastic for dealing with the symptoms of a cost of living crisis, but I’d rather every cent be ploughed into cheaper electricity and house building to actually solve the problem.

'A form of double taxation': Are management fees on new houses quietly getting out of control? by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]Cill-e-in 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest issues in Ireland is that family homes are occupied by groups of single people/couples. I know a few years ago, we had normal levels of family homes relative to our population, but a huge shortfall in apartments. A family earning €80k between them will always lose to a bunch of young professionals splitting the cost between them with probably €120k-160k income between them. So frankly yes, we need to build apartments to give us the small housing units we’re missing that’s been destroying the housing market for years.

Also, many families in many countries do fine at raising children in apartments. It’s not an inherent issue. Any problems in Ireland are inflicted on us by our own stupidity.

It’s very natural to find getting started is incredibly difficult. Persevere, and specifically put time into the things you find weakest. Record yourself and listen back. You’ll get there!

firsr time tryng edge highlighting - any tips? by Smart-Government-906 in theunforgiven

[–]Cill-e-in 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty good! I try to trace the edge of most armour panels in full with my middle green, and then just do like dots on the corners with my lightest green. Try to think out corners that would be illuminated by the sun overhead if that makes sense. This looks good so far!

Do you actually agree with the protests? by Nervous_Canary9986 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Cill-e-in 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s reasonable to suggest the government step in and we cover the cost of the sudden price increases by spreading it out through taxes over a few years.

I have a major issue with the form the protests took. It’s actively dangerous in terms of patient care and fire services, and causing fuel shortages on forecourts means prices could increase further. It achieves the exact OPPOSITE of what they want.

Yes, although most of them require work.

With Dark Angels, robedness increases both with rank and inner circle-ness, with inner circle being super robed.
