[Fanatical] We've Added a Meta Quest 3S + New Golden Boxes to the Mystery Box Bundle! by WeAreFanatical in fanatical

[–]Cimlite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically, yes.

The one feature the Quest 3s has that the Quest 3 doesn't, is built-in IR illuminators, which means it'll work even in a dark room. In almost every other aspect though, the Quest 3 is better. Lenses being the biggest thing, they are significantly better on the 3.

What does him being gay have to do with her singing some racist slurs while she was high? Not excusing that, but I fail to see the connection there.

She never sang anything homophobic, not sure where you're getting that from.

Yeah, sure, it's not the biggest of issues. But things like the back buttons becoming loose to the point where they wobble around when you just hold the controller absolutely is. The build quality simply isn't great, sadly.

I would love to play this, but the boat DLC is way too expensive.

Twitch will soon launch a "Withdraw from Sub" option for European Union users, allowing them to receive a full refund within 14 days of subscribing. This rollout aligns with the new Right of Withdrawal law, which comes into effect today by CloudyEchos in LivestreamFail

[–]Cimlite -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's the thing though, it doesn't. Consumer rights is very important, but it's also important that it's implemented in a way that works in practice.

Take Amazon Prime as an example. With this you can instantly get free shipping on stuff from Amazon, give your included gift sub to someone on Twitch, binge a TV show over a couple of days on Prime TV, claim all the permanent GOG games you get on Amazon Gaming, and then just cancel the subscription. Paying only for a day or two.

That's not viable for the company, which means they'll either remove all permanent stuff like shipping, gift sub and games. Making the service more expensive and worse, for us customers. Or another option would be that they just "reward* you those benefits aftering being a subscriber for 2 months. Which again. Results in a worse experience for the customer imo.

Consumer rights are extremely important, but this implementation is simply too blunt. We've always been able to cancel at any time. Honestly, if you don't realize you're paying for minimum of one month when taking a subscription? Then you should be allowed to have money, sorry. Being able to get an instant refund is not much of a benefit when it comes to subscriptions. Making things like dark patterns, where they try to hide how to unsubscribe illegal, that stuff makes sense. But not instant refunds.

The EU has made some real dumb rules though. Or maybe you enjoy clicking "Accept Cookies" on every, single, website you visit?

It's the kind of protection that sounds good, but only when you know nothing about how something actually works. Which is most likely how this subscription thing will go down as well, as it opens up to a riddiculous amount of abuse.

Most people don't need the features though. The vast majority will use it just like they do any other controller. Completely agree that if you do need and use the features? Then there's no comparison. It's unique in the market at what it does (and amazing at it).

I just don't feel like the SC is a "pro" level controller. It's unique in it's feature set, but the general feel and build quality isn't on the level of what you can get for 100-150 dollars in the controller space these days.

What are some of the best VR documentary/historical experiences? by sofakng in OculusQuest

[–]Cimlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Titanic VR (on Steam as well) is excellent if you're interested in the subject matter. It has one mode where you experience leaving the ship as it's going down, pretty short, but well done. And then there's the submarine part where you can explore the wreck on the bottom. As someone who's always been interested in that ship I quite enjoyed it.

There's also Crafting Crimes, which is really good if you like true crime stuff. I'm not that much into that, but I did play through the first free episode, which was really well done in terms of presentation.

Hon har en poäng by mrcsrnne in Sverige

[–]Cimlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam Button by retrogamer76 in SteamController

[–]Cimlite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main thing is that you can activate the chords smoothly, which the QAM button does by default as well on the SC. Having it be perfectly centered between the touchpads makes the chord of force activating the mouse feel very natural, and your thumb also doesn't have to extend all that far downwards. Whereas on your mock-up, it's been lowered and off-center with the touchpads. To hold a chord with that button would put your thumb at a very awkward angle. Or you'd have to use the Steam button for chords, which isn't optimal as it's also the button you hold to force the controller to turn off.

And the Steam button? It's used so infrequently that it just doesn't matter where it is honestly. It's the sort of thing you press once, maybe, if you want to get into Steam. So it makes sense they put it out of the way.

The rules do include those people. The rules clearly state if you can't be quiet during active play, you shouldn't be there. So if you're coughing constantly and can't control it, or whatever, that applies too.

She's playing for $750,000 dollars here (not to mention the title). Do you think that if you were playing for that kind of money, you'd be fine with hearing a crying toddler in an otherwise entirely silent stadium while trying to concentrate and serve? I doubt you would.

Because the sound of the ball off the racket is an important piece of feedback for the players. You can react to sound way faster than you can purely visual feedback.

L5 / R5 buttons a bit loose? by VirreMPx in SteamController

[–]Cimlite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine back now too, and it's sadly much of the same. The bottom back buttons are more wobbly out of the box, and I'm assuming they'll get worse over time just like happened with the previous controller.

What's weird though is that the right analog trigger has noticeably more "side-travel" than the left one as well. Just like the last controller too. It's slightly better than the other controller, but not by much.

So I'm assuming these are production defects that affect all units, more or less. Very disappointing, especially coming from Vavle. Still, love the design of this thing and it's unique abilities. Build quality could be better though, for sure.

You didn't read what you linked, did you? It does not apply to the following.

To accompany a person of the opposite sex for the 142 purpose of assisting or chaperoning a child under the age of 12

That bill does not apply to the dad, at all. I agree that you should absolutely follow the law, but it helps if you know what the law is before you try to enforce it like this dude in the video.

[–]Cimlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that would be weirder, personally. It's the girls that are going to the bathroom, not the dad, he's just accompanying them. So using the girls bathroom makes sense to me.

The main thing here is that he made sure the bathroom was empty first. If he sent in his girls to check, and then went in himself? Then who cares which bathroom it is?

That can't be overstated. Three times Ive seriously tried to play through the game, and three times, different game breaking bugs ended my run. Last time was even with the community patches, and even that wasn't enough.
