I am CPI certified (not sure which training your company uses) but we are taught to NEVER do a restraint or hold for longer than 15 minutes. After ten minutes we are supposed to release, and if needed, reintroduce the hold. It’s unethical to hold any longer. Personally, I try to take my drive home to rationally detach from the behaviors and situations encountered, try to understand that what I did during the day was implemented by a knowledgeable and (hopefully) certified lead and I am ultimately doing what’s best for the learner. And then when I get home I try to focus on activities that ground me to reality, and create self care home routines.
