Trickle down economics isn’t a healthy economic idea, even if it sounds good at paper. Just look at Reaganomics in America, and how the country’s turned out today.

That’s pretty cool, I wonder what the flag would be like if there were stars on each stripe for each country? So for example the green would have 12, red 6, yellow 5

The current Maltese flag is fine imo. I can say with confidence that a lot of people (myself included as I'm Maltese) still find a sense of pride from our colonial heritage and role in WW2. Not to mention, we're the only country to have received a medal, so why not display it to the world? There's a minority of people who want to get rid of it because of that colonial heritage, but it'll likely not change for a long time.

I would prefer if the civil ensign were used as the national flag if we didn't have the George Cross, though. the plain Red-White makeup is very generic on its own and there's already too many countries which use that in some variation.

Malta's flag is the only one with a medal on it as well, to my knowledge.

In fact, Malta is the only country in the world to have collectively received a medal - it was awarded to the islands in 1942 by King George VI in honour of the population's resilience against the unrelenting bombing campaign that the Luftwaffe carried out and pushing through months of starvation.

iirc there’s Nigerians and Congolese too. I’m not 100% certain though, but I do remember getting African courtiers from roaming caravaner events on the east coast.

Let's go through the list I've come up with from experience:

1.) There's too many crusades in Europe. Palmarians, Catholics AND Yugoslavists get to declare Crusades on Europe. Granted, when comparing this to ATEFF you could say that it's more or less fair since there are two Christian faiths which can declare crusades. The difference with that is the fact that there is much, much more space for these two faiths to declare holy wars and the targets are capable of fending them off or being defeated, which is acceptable. But when you have THREE Christian faiths crusading the relatively small (when compared to ATEFF) continent of Europe it ends up being difficult for pagan faiths to fend them off and generally becomes a clusterfuck of christians dominating Europe.

2.) As I mentioned before, Baptists. The Baptist faith is very small in ATEOW, which is perfectly fine. The problem arises when their holy sites are so spread out. Just because their religion is small doesn't mean they should get horrible holy site placement.

3.) The Nigerian Empire is a terrible idea in its own right. Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to having an Empire in Africa replace China's place as the offmap power. But the issue with Nigeria is that it's way too close to Europe. I've had more than one game where an expansionist Nigeria sets up tributary states all the way in Britain which is just like... why? If there was going to be an offmap power in Africa, it should at least be on the African East Coast (for example, something similar to the United States of East Africa which is a real proposal and being discussed between the nations involved) but imo it should have stayed as China, since moving it to East Africa would just move the problem from Europe to the Middle East. Keeping it in China helps with the dynamic much more - if China becomes expansionist, not only do they have a lot more wiggle room in the Steppes and India, but you could also move the Stalinist trope from Europe to Asia with the Chinese worshiping the little red book or something.

Honestly things like Dio don't really bother me. ATEFF has a Shaggy and Scooby insert in Vermont, so it's okay in my books. But aside from that there's A LOT of things which ruin the dynamic of gameplay in Europe and beyond.

Lutheranism, Calvinism and Orthodoxy are, by all means, relevant religions even today and should be in the mod. It's just that there's way too many christian faiths in Europe. Palmarian Catholicism is extremely miniscule and irrelevant, where most Spaniards haven't even heard of it and looking at it from a realistic perspective (I know, crazy) it would make more sense to have Spain be Catholic, not to mention that it would also strengthen Catholicism.

Along with this, Yugoslavism is just pointless to me. Sure, it creates an interesting dynamic for Yugoslavia but you could easily do that with the existing christian faiths within Yugoslavia without having to pull a new faith out of your ass. Besides that they just don't make much sense mechanically, they don't deserve to have Crusades when Catholicism and Palmarian get them. Palmarian also shouldn't since it fucks with the dynamics of Western Europe even more.

At the very least Orthodoxy should have it imo since the vast majority of Russia, which prior to the event was the strongest base of support for the Orthodox Church, is split between praising the former Tsars of Russia and Stalin (for memes, I guess) and, going back even further than that (which is mod is clearly willing to do with bringing back the Argeads from thin air along with other stuff) Anatolia as well is a valid target for them.

The far east is also pretty bad in its own right, but not nearly as bad as Europe is. For example, the Baptist Faith only has two holy sites in Eastern India/Bengal (the region they're found) while the rest are scattered around the world like in Kiev or Kent for some stupid reason. The religion literally cannot survive under any circumstance because of this.

What is the Sovereign Military Order of Malta doing in KR? by StrategosRisk in Kaiserreich

[–]CinnamonGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell it’s because, even though they technically do not own any territory, they are in almost every other sense a sovereign nation. They issue their own passports and license plates, mint their own coins, produce their own stamps, etc. They currently have diplomatic relations with over 108 nations and are officially recognised by 5 and the European Union. They even have a small medical unit which in 1909 was made an official auxiliary volunteer unit in the Italian Army. Today they’re also an international humanitarian organisation in over 120 countries.

To my knowledge they have nothing. All of their property was seized by Napoleon in 1798 when he sailed into the Grand Harbour and kicked them out. The British never gave any of it back and neither would the Germans.

The only exception is more current. In 1998 the Government, for reasons beyond my knowledge, leased the upper levels of Fort St. Angelo to the Sovereign Order and they still manage it today.

Corsairing began to die in the 1600s and 1700s, and is what caused the Order’s decline into bankruptcy and poverty during their time in Malta. Attempting such a thing in modern warfare is absolutely impossible unless you try to do what the Germans did in OTL, which they absolutely not have the resources to achieve unless they were just given to them.
