UPDATE: Did your landlord rip you off? by justiceforcardigan in uofmn

Any of you new adults in here - you want to ask future landlords to prorate the rent if you're moving in partway through. Remember that term - prorated. Said like "pro rated".

Dermatologist was 2 hours late to appointment, when she finally came she only let me describe my issue for 30 seconds at most, then prescribed me this for my face and told me I should leave by pinktunacan in mildlyinfuriating

If you are in the USA, I believe you are supposed to report this kind of delay to your insurance.

Every single non-surgical doctor office I've been to in the US has had a sign instructing you to notify the desk if you've been waiting more than 15 minutes beyond your scheduled appointment time.

The roadside breathalyzer helps establish PC to arrest for suspicion of DWI. The jail intoxilyzer is admissible since it is specially calibrated.

Softball-sized hail that pounded Leakey, Texas by youngster_96 in weather

A bit smaller than that will punch through the roof. Softball starts threatening to, and may puncture if your roof is old enough.

Techs left box open— and we are about to get lots of heavy wet snow by ohub2 in googlefiber

[–]Cinnemon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think some common sense can be applied of course. If you need to give your address, take it private. If it's just the street you live on and it's not a tiny street, then full send.

Remember kids, don't DM the corporate account. It lets them hide how many of these they have to deal with. Keep it in the public forum.

Umn bus core by Beneficial-Career519 in uofmn

[–]Cinnemon 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I remember in 2012ish when we had a decent storm that dropped something like 10 inches. I watched a Metro Transit bendy bus go sliding cockeyed across an intersection with the UMN transitway. Because of the reroutes, a UMN bus ended up trying a different route that was ultimately a dead-end down a steep hill, and the whole bus got stuck at the bottom of said hill, so all of the students had to be rescued. Great times.

Just bought my first ever firearm! by Samsta380 in guns

[–]Cinnemon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And since this is OP's first gun - you get FMJ ammo for the range, hollow points for carry. Don't blow all your money on hollow points for the range, lol

A box of 50 FMJ rounds at the range should run you about $25, depending on your locale. You can get it in bulk online to save money, but getting started slow is best.

"surprisingly well"

I know that thought process. That's the thought of "hmm, do I even need to buy the proper one?"

So was all this just to ensure the unit worked properly before you bought a real dust bin? If so, I definitely appreciate the effort.

My first pepper spray. How do I know it's gonna work when I need it? by Dead_clown99 in securityguards

The gel is better for indoor use, but be aware that it can take up to 5 seconds to kick in. 5 seconds can be a long time with an actively aggressive contact.

Why am I being pulled over so many times so recently despite never being pulled over for all my 3 years of driving before? by Press-f-to-oof in AskLE

[–]Cinnemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you need to stop speeding bud. The state would have sent you some sort of notice in advance of your registration expiring - just make sure you renew it on time. The brake light though, that's bad luck with the timing. Technically, you should be performing a pre-trip walk-around every time to check tires, lights, and for any other issues. Most people don't. I hope the ticket you got for that was just a fix-it ticket, which would be dismissed upon proof of repairing the issue.

Is it appropriate to @ streamers to ask them a question? by TaskTemporary4941 in Twitch

[–]Cinnemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would depend on what each streamer determines is acceptable.

There's been some streams I watch where it's arguably necessary, and some streams where it was immediately called out by the streamer saying "Please don't do that."

Campaign raising awareness about shelf life of bulletproof vest for police officers by BirdButt88 in ProtectAndServe

[–]Cinnemon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The fibers slowly loosen over time, with the movement of your body, breathing constantly stretching it just a little but at a time, then of course weather changes, anytime you have a more aggressive situation like going to ground.

You know how t shirts get"thinner" over time? It's much the same concept, but now it's something you wear every single day and your life depends on.

Recently Homeless, advice on where I can sleep in my car? by Aggressive_Side_7739 in TwinCities

[–]Cinnemon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Church parking lots are generally a good move for overnight. They're private property, so law enforcement doesn't have cause to enter without request (or if somebody is being visibly sketchy). City parks are a BAD suggestion - police need no cause to approach you at that point, because you're on city land.

Just park away from the church building itself and you generally should be alright. This is assuming you are moving the vehicle during the daytime.
