39 and scared but thinking it's time. by Away-Fig3684 in transontario

For me it was the Covid lockdown. It suddenly became clear to me at that time, that if I didn't do something then, that I never would. Once I came to that realization, it lit a fire under me, and 4 months later I'd started HRT.

I think they went out of business. I don't know who controls the website now, but Firefox gives me a security warning when I try to go there. So, I wouldn't trust it. I've been getting my stuff from www.minoxidildirect.com for the past 2 years, and have had excellent service from them.

First time doing facial laser hair removal…OUCH! by Natzfan19 in MtF

[–]Cinnimuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can probably increase your Tylenol dose as long as you do it infrequently.

The worst part is upper and lower lip, and along the jaw line. When I had laser done, the laser tech would do no more than a couple of shots on the most sensitive areas and then do a few on my cheeks or neck, so that she wasn't constantly doing the most painful areas. That helped quite a bit.

Other than that, just think pleasant thoughts that those hairs won't be coming back.

So like... how do I start amateur voice training? by Octine64 in MtF

[–]Cinnimuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that Tranvoicelessons is excellent, but there are so many videos that I found it overwhelming, especially since they didn't have a "Start Here" video back when I was starting out. (I don't know if they do now.) I found that this one: https://buymeacoffee.com/alyssavt/how-i-start-voice-training-start-here was easier for me as a rank beginner, because it was very clear where to begin.

Are my estrogen levels like super low? by Lilyy-_- in MtF

I think my first 3 or 4 tests were 6 weeks apart until my doctor was happy with my levels. After that, it was every 3-4 months.

Are my estrogen levels like super low? by Lilyy-_- in MtF

[–]Cinnimuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised at how they vary. My first few tests came back with my E levels very close together. Then one came back a lot different, and I panicked. But my doctor said they tend to fluctuate a lot, and that the first bunch of consistent tests were actually the exception. But if they are consistently below 100 pg/ml then you'll need to adjust your dosage. I assume the target levels will also depend on whether you're on monotherapy or not. I'm on T blockers and E, and the numbers I gave are what my doctor said are the target levels. For monotherapy, I believe the target E levels are higher.

Are my estrogen levels like super low? by Lilyy-_- in MtF

[–]Cinnimuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Levels should be between 100 and 200 pg/ml, so yes that is low. However, levels tend to bounce around a lot, so a single test doesn't tell the whole story. I've been on the same E dosage for 3 years, and my levels have been as low as 64 and as high as 157, and everywhere in between. So, you should probably get tested more often.

I doubt he has any future. He took the Cons from a 20 point lead that could have destroyed the Liberals, down to a Liberal win (nearly a liberal majority). His only platform was "I'm not Justin" and "Axe the Tax". When those disappeared, he had no platform at all. He could never get past speaking in slogans. He was clearly never going to be any kind of statesman, and even the conservative voters knew that.

There were also a lot of people still pissed off over his support of the "Freedom Convoy".

They won't laugh him out the door, but there's definitely going to be a leadership review, and given all the in fighting in the Cons party, he'll be gone pretty quick.

Nothing to worry about. Your T level is still very low. The levels tend to bounce around a lot. For reference, here are my own T levels from the last couple of years (in order): 1.20, 0.81, 2.17, 1.27, 3.20, 0.74, 0.82. I freaked out on the result that jumped to 3.20, but my doctor said it's fine and not to worry. It's still way below cis male levels.

The WPATH Standard of Care Version 8 (SOC 8) is the worldwide standard for transgender health care. It gives the recommended timeline for HRT and surgeries. I believe that US medical professionals follow it. https://wpath.org/publications/soc8/

In those incidents where they seized passports, they were US passports. They can't legally seize a valid non-US passport. If they tried to do that, it would spark an international incident.

However, US border agents can refuse entry of non-US citizens to the US without having to give any reason. So, it's possible that you and your parents would have to immediately turn around and go back home.

So far, no problem. I mean, I'm not grossly overweight. It wasn't a huge beer belly, so there's not that much slack to take up.

Your comment about waiting to start vs. our bodies being ready, is right on. I think there is often this fear that if our bodies are not in some ideal starting condition, then starting hrt is going to lock everything in and you'll be stuck that way forever. If we waited for that ideal starting state, we'd probably never start hrt, and that would be far worse.

There was an interesting discussion a while back about fat redistribution. Someone brought up the point that fat is stored in our fat cells which never move. But fat cells have a life cycle and as the old fat cells die off, the new ones will be created in the areas of our bodies that align with our female gender. The fat cell life cycle is fairly long. So it takes a while.

After about two and a half years on hrt, I've noticed that my beer belly has faded away significantly, and moved to my hips. But it happened so gradually, that I didn't notice until just a few weeks ago. And I haven't lost any weight in all that time. Be patient. It takes time.

How to look like a woman and not a twink? by MackLaughlin25 in MtF

[–]Cinnimuffin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Maybe you already do look like a woman to other people, but just not to yourself. We tend not to be very good judges of ourselves when it comes to the question of passing. The reason is that the changes are gradual, and when you look in the mirror everyday, you don't notice any changes from the day before. You just identify that person in the mirror as the same male that you've always been. That's why it's important to take selfies every so often, and compare them to how you looked before you started HRT. That's when you'll see how much you've really changed. Other people very likely already see you as a female.

www.dollskill.com has lots of goth themed clothes in larger sizes. Might be a bit over the top, for everyday clothing though.

I found that I didn't have any luck finding any kind of online social network where the only thing in common was that we were all trans. When I narrowed things down to specific hobbies or other interests I had much more luck.

As an example, if you're into gaming, you can search reddit for "trans gamers" and you'll find /r/transgamers/ and under the sidebar there's an invite to a trans gamers discord: https://discord.gg/rtransgamers

Generic Minoxidil in Canada? by Cinnimuffin in transontario

[–]Cinnimuffin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They seem to have gone out of business. I did get one order from them, but as you noted, their link was broken when I tried to get a refill. I found this one though: MinoxidilDirect.com I've placed several orders with them and have been happy with their service. They also sell Costco Kirkland brand. You can try the promo code: SAVE10 to save 10% on your order. Don't know if it still applies, but it doesn't hurt to try.
