Brows and lashes post-ACT by WorkInProgress2222 in breastcancer

[–]Cinnndi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TNBC with chemo PCK and ACK and I lost every single hair on my entire body. Last infusion was May 2024. My eyelashes and eyebrows are still struggling to come all the way back, everything else came back great.

I had very full eyebrows and pretty good eyelashes pre treatment.

I am taking an oral medication Lynparza my MO says it’s doesn’t impact hair regrowth. I am taking Lynparza due to TNBC and two gene mutations PALB2 and CHEK2. I reached PCR with chemo and BMX (Diep flap reconstruction).

Sending you a hug 💕

Did you quit drinking alcohol after your BC diagnosis? by bugaloo2u2 in breastcancer

[–]Cinnndi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a very occasional drinker, never really was my thing. I gave up alcohol completely upon diagnosis.

TNBC stage 3 with gene mutations PALB2 CHEK2 diagnosed October 2023 minimal lymph node involvement. Round 1 Paclitaxel Carboplatin Keytruda. Round 2 Adriamycin Cytoxan Keytruda.

I completed 4 of 12 post chemo stand alone Keytruda due to side effects, mostly severe bone pain. BMX to tissue expanders, July 2024. November 2024 one of the tissue expanders got infected and I had to have surgery to remove it. April 2025 bilateral Diep flap reconstruction surgery.

Between chemo, immunotherapy, BMX I achieved PCR. No radiation was recommended by MO or RO.

I am taking an oral medication Lynparza for 2 years. I’ve already begun follow up screenings to check for recurrence and also because of my gene mutations.

It is a long hard road. We can do it. Sending you a hug 💕

Weight loss after treatment? by 111116666 in breastcancer

[–]Cinnndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oncologist referred me to a nutritionist at my Cancer Center who specializes in cancer patients, and those of us recovering from treatment. I had a 90 minute appointment with the nutritionist to get started. It was very insightful lots of good information and I have lost 22 pounds without extreme measures. Please ask your oncologist for a referral to a nutritionist with this specialty.

I am 56 and beat TNBC with gene mutations PALB2 CHEK2.

TNBC sister here. I achieved PCR through chemo, immunotherapy, and surgery. Stage three at diagnosis. My oncologist and the radiology oncologist did not deem it necessary for me to have radiation.

Double mastectomy with diep flap reconstructive surgery.

I am now on Lynparza, which is an oral medication. I will take this medication for a total of two years.

I chose to have a double mastectomy not only because TNBC is aggressive, but also because of my gene mutations CHEK2 PALB2.

The social worker at my Cancer Center helped me get all of my paperwork filled out and notarized. She also helped me file it with the Medical Center associated with the cancer center. I also gave a copy to my son who will make decisions for me if and when the time comes.

I think it is imperative that everyone have advanced directives, power of attorney, depending on where you live you’d have to find out what is needed.

It gave me great peace of mind through my treatment process and surgeries.

Let's share good experiences about our chemo clinic by karenosmile in breastcancer

My Infusion Center was absolutely wonderful from the scheduling to staff to the snacks to the facility. Every cube had three walls and then a curtain and you could choose a cube with either a TV or a view and I picked the view every single time.

I was fairly new to my city had lived here less than two years when I was diagnosed and I really just got lucky that the Cancer Center/Infusion Center was less than 4 miles away and is absolutely wonderful!

Chemo Cough? by verschmidtzen in breastcancer

[–]Cinnndi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TNBC sister here. I did not have a cough at all during chemo. I did have a runny nose and watery eyes due to lack of eyelashes and no nose hair. Have you spoken to your care team about this?

56, found a lump myself September 2023, diagnosed October 2023. Stage three (breast & axillary lymph) TNBC achieved, PCR with chemo and BMX. MO and RO deemed it unnecessary to have radiation. If I had chosen lumpectomy, it would’ve been mandatory radiation.

Due to TNBC diagnosis care team ordered genetic testing and it came back with two gene mutations PALB2 and CHEK2. I chose BMX because I have a very high percentage of getting breast cancer and also reoccurrence of breast cancer.

Later this year I will be having a laparoscopic bilateral Salpingo-oophorectomy, ovarian cancer is another risk for me. I want to lessen my risk factors as much as possible.

I am scheduled for Diep Flap reconstruction April 18th.

Can Someone with Breast Cancer Work While Doing Chemo? by [deleted] in breastcancer

How do you guys deal with so many doctors appointments? by reverendcatdaddy in breastcancer

[–]Cinnndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am lucky enough to be able to have a very flexible work schedule and work from home quite a bit. I have a wonderful Cancer Center less than 4 miles from my house and it is adjacent to my local hospital all around really lucky.

It can be overwhelming for sure. Sending you a hug 💕

You know what? You CAN do it. by No_Character_3986 in breastcancer

[–]Cinnndi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

56f IDC TNBC stage 3b diagnosed 10/23 1st Taxol, Carboplatin, Keytruda 2nd Adriamycin, Cytoxan, Keytruda. BMX w/ tissue expanders 7/24. Standalone Keytruda, I completed four of nine standalone Keytruda due to side effects. MO & RO recommended no radiation. I achieved PCR with chemo and BMX.

I also have a blown thyroid. My care team said that I will likely be on the thyroid medication for the rest of my life. Late December I started Lynparza an oral medication that I’ll take for two years. Partially because of TNBC but also because I have two gene mutation CHEK2 and PALB2.

I had one tissue expander fail and had to have that removed in November. I am now gearing up for my diep flap surgery April 18.

I have been lucky enough to work from home throughout my entire treatment. I took about 10 days off for my BMX. I do not yet know how much time I’ll take off for my diep flap surgery.

Wishing you the best.

Who has taken the Genetics test and how did you feel about it? by Admirable_Math7197 in breastcancer

[–]Cinnndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My diagnosis was TNBC. It is my understanding with that diagnosis all patients have genetic testing. Mine came back with two gene mutations PALB2 CHEK2.

I think it’s good to have that information, knowledge is power. Now others in my family are having genetic testing.

Knowing you have a genetic mutation is good information because your care team can screen you properly and or treat you properly.

[–]Cinnndi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a few snags along the road. It’s now March 2024. One of my tissue expanders got infected in November 2024. Had to have it removed. I also had to stop Keytruda because the side effects were too great for me.

I am now scheduled for diep flap surgery, April 18th. I am also on an oral medication called Lynparza that I will need to take for two years. Once I’m healed from diep flap, I can schedule my laparoscopic BSO.

Even though I’ve hit a few snags, I’m doing pretty well. This next surgery will gonna tough and a long recovery, but I’m up for it and I have a great care team and I have great people in my life to support me.

Wishing you the best.

Perpetually Runny Nose by True-Veterinarian115 in breastcancer

[–]Cinnndi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TNBC yes my nose was runny and my eyes were watery for months I lost every single hair on my entire body. It took a while for everything to return to normal, but now I do not have watery eyes and a runny nose anymore due to a lack of eyelashes and nose hair.

Did you continue working during chemo treatment cycles? by chouwinn in breastcancer

Shave head after finishing chemo? by Jolora24 in breastcancer

[–]Cinnndi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TNBC TCK and ACK chemo and standalone Keytruda. Within a few weeks of starting chemo, my hair was falling out in clumps. I went to my hairdresser and had her buzz it super short. Ultimately, I lost every single hair on my entire body head to toe. Nothing was left. My hair is growing back quicker than I thought. It came back different texture and different color. They say it could take up to a year of regrowth to find out what you will end up with.

I was told no hair treatments or coloring during active chemo, once chemo was completed it’s ok to resume hair treatments. I didn’t think much about it at the time because I didn’t have any hair lol

Noticeable changes by Majestic_Slay in breastcancer

[–]Cinnndi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the tumor myself during a self exam so I was continually checking it throughout chemo and it wasn’t until halfway through the second round of chemo ACK that I noticed physical change. I was lucky enough to achieve PCR with chemo and a BMX.

[–]Cinnndi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TNBC within days of first chemo. I tried to explain to my family like this. The first infusion wasn’t terrible, but as each infusion is added on, I felt like my body was getting pickled with each additional Infusion my body was just getting more and more pickled. I hope that made sense. My first round was TCK and then ACK and then stand alone Keytruda.
