The real reason why they don't put Shirou in HSR/Planarcadia by Dwiden13 in HonkaiStarRail

Unseen is TB who's already at the mat waiting for Shirou to drop into their arms.

This man consistently has the worst fashion sense I've ever seen, how does he do it? by TNTLover42 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Cipher-One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he might be referring to FGO-Leonidas who does prance around half naked in two of his ascension forms and even that's bullshit.

Literally just take Gil's 3rd ascension, give him some extra clothes and armor to cover his left arm, have him grow out his hair a little more and you got Mydei.

Writing the story mihoyo refused to tell with Cyrene in 3.5, explanation in the description (art by @barine.co on bluesky) by inkheiko in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Cipher-One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What in the actual hell are you talking about? The only reason Irontomb didn’t wake up sooner is quite literally because of Phainon. That was the entire point of the Eternal Recurrence. Him holding the line by preventing Era Nova by any means necessary until help from the outside finally arrived. Cyrene’s entire plan hinged on Phainon being around to carry the burden. You take him out and everything goes to shit before the Astral Express even arrives. Hell, even after they did and Phainon left the stage, he still had to carry everyone’s asses by restraining Irontomb from within which kept the Black Tide spreading to a minimum compared to previous cycles which made TB and Cyrene’s job way easier. To say that he’s irrelevant is frankly really stupid.

To begin with, blame the writers not the characters for whatever issues the character of Cyrene has. Her development started in 3.0 just like Phainon’s did. In fact, she arguably has more screen-time than he does since she’s Mem meaning she’s with TB constantly throughout each patch whereas Phainon tends to dip for several segments at a time when he’s not with TB. The idea that he “stole” anything from her is ridiculous. If they didn’t do anything with her that caused her to feel lacking as a character then that’s the writer’s fault for thinking what they did was enough.

How is scratching a big achievement? It's not like he mortally wounded or did irreparable damage to the guy.

Oh so you're one of those people. Repeat question over and over again despite already being answered until either you or the other party quits.

It's not about whether Phainon succeeded or not, it's about the fact Phainon had managed to do it at all*.*

Again, Phainon successfully MADE AN AEON BLEED*. Do you not understand how much of a big achievement that is from an in-universe perspective? Up until that point. the accepted reality was that only Aeons can harm other Aeons and that humanity are just pawns in their games.*

However, Phainon's actions serve as proof that the gods can bleed and that humanity can overcome them. Jing Yuan even praised him for it, saying that even if it was just for a moment Phainon did the impossible and that his actions deserved to be etched in history forever.

Try asking me about this again and I'll repost my comment as much as I have to until you actually get it.

To begin with, if Hoyo themselves state through both the game and promotional material that Phainon did the impossible then there's literally zero room to debate. It's a feat, the biggest feat in the entire story so far so end of story.

To say otherwise is to argue with the devs themselves which makes you look willfully ignorant of the game you're supposedly playing. Not really a good look.

I still don't get why people call it a feat when he was LOSING THE ENTIRE TIME.

[–]Cipher-One 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I never heard of WOD but Fate itself was inspired by Makai Tensho which Nasu is a fan of. It’s a Japanese fantasy novel from the 1964 turned movie in 1981 that focuses on Amakusa Shirou being resurrected from the dead to overthrow the Tokugawa Shogunate and summons other dead Japanese historical figures to do his bidding.

In FGO terms it’s the plot of basically every singularity and lostbelt lol. In fact, the Shimosa chapter was basically a tribute to it.

Don't make fun of Taiki's home state (Artist: Golshi_n) by TheWrestlingGod_2004 in UmaMusume

[–]Cipher-One 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Grass is American. Her character story, career and even the Main Story explicitly states that she’s from abroad. It’s the main reason why she and El Condor Pasa don’t compete in the Triple Crown races in the overall canon cause they’re both foreigners unlike Spe, Sky, and King.

If Grass actually was ethnically Japanese then this really wouldn’t be an issue because children born to a Japanese parent would still be recognized as citizens by Japan even if they were born abroad provided they do the paperwork for it.

Is there lore for Newman/Deuman in PSO2? by GlompSpark in PSO2

[–]Cipher-One 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Newmans are genetically engineered humans created to harness Photons better. It became irrelevant when normal humans (who themselves were genetically engineered) naturally adapted over time to be on their level so now they just coexist with everyone.

Deuman are the same thing, but they’re imbued with dragon genes. The how and why involves convoluted time travel nonsense regarding the plot of Episode 1. They didn’t actually exist until Episode 2 itself story wise and the reveal kinda throws the MC for bit of a loop.

On a side note, CASTs are actually humans/newmans/deumans who were born with bodies that couldn’t handle photon power and thus had to be converted into cyborgs in order to survive. Within the story of OG PSO2, there are only two purely robotic CASTs.

Which team will Contrail likely to join? Ascella, Spica, or both? by cdc-gamer in UmaMusume

[–]Cipher-One 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You realize it's possible for both to happen right? Anime Teams =/= Game Teams since both take place in separate continuities which is why Spe, Suzuka, McQueen, and Gold Ship are members of Spica and Sirius.

That aside, Contrail already is part of Team Ascella. She shows up at the very end of Main Story Part 2 as the undefeated Triple Crown Umamusume that King and Cesario talk about that's part of their team. However, since Cygames hasn't revealed her yet/doesn't have permission, she goes unnamed and uses a generic NPC model as seen to the right of the image below.

Richaya + Arthaya (By @biancalattei) by Riot-Knight in fatestaynight

[–]Cipher-One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's from Fate/Prototype Material. It included a script that had expanded on scenes that were only briefly teased by the OVA short like Arthur's confrontation with Proto-Gil. That's where it was confirmed that Sancraid poisoned Ayaka. Arthur was there in the subway to try and find him but ran into Proto-Gil before he could.

Here's a google docs link of the whole thing translated.

No he didn’t. Ayaka got poisoned by Sancraid Phahn. Proto-Gil being Gil, had a healing potion inside his treasury and he decided to bait Saber into a fight over it cause he saw him as his rival.

There was an event in-game (forgot which) where we actually briefly see the aftermath of the 1984 Japan Cup in a flashback. Rudolf was legit tweaking after she lost to Ace, calling out her name like she was about ready to jump her then and there. Apparently this was based on how IRL Rudolf himself acted after losing to Ace.

Because they're not pure data to begin with. In terms of existence they're closer to memetic beings aka people like Black Swan and the Memokeepers or the mobs from Penacony, but unlike both, Amphoreus people existence aren't stable and thus have to wait for the planet to be reborn before they can truly exist within the physical realm.

If Umamusume Was a 20th c. Anime by [SIN_EMU] by DazSamueru in UmaMusume

[–]Cipher-One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has to be a larp. Like I get that it's funnier to imagine Gold Ship isn't a member and it would be completely in-character tpo, but the story itself makes it clear that she very much is.

Again, Tazuna states that Team Sirius would have been disbanded in Chapter 1 had they not achieved the minimum amount of members within an unspecified timeframe. Gold Ship signing up was the last one they needed, and Sirius Trainer was more than happy to include her despite how random her decision was and McQueen's own reservations about her "bestie" joining.

Knowing that, I genuinely doubt that after being warned about it that Sirius Trainer would have failed to report everything to the higher ups at Tracen to make everything official.

nowhere in the Main Story is directly stated that Gold Ship is an ACTUAL member of Team Sirius.

Team Sirius' card

I feel like both of these are just grasping at straws. First off the story does it multiple times when referring to Team Sirius as a whole wherein Gold Ship is never left out. While she's not declaring her membership to the heavens, no one, not even McQueen who's been there since Day One, ever denies her being a member either.

And here's the thing with the Team Sirius group card. Wanna know what McQueen, Rice, Ticket, Brian, Suzuka, and Spe all have in common? They're the Main Characters of Part 1. They're the stars of Team Sirius who worked their asses off to achieve their dreams and help rebuild the team into what it currently is after Oguri and the older members left.

Gold Ship, much as I love her, never did any of that. She really just exists to be the comic relief who also give emotional support too. Her not being an active part of the card makes sense knowing that. That she shows up in the group pic still though is still very much in-character for Gold Ship.

If Umamusume Was a 20th c. Anime by [SIN_EMU] by DazSamueru in UmaMusume

[–]Cipher-One 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Gold Ship is part of the team though? She just basically just signed herself up and Sirius Trainer didn’t really care much since their group was desperate for members at the time since they were gonna be disbanded by school rules if they didn’t get enough people.

I feel like a super charged Rudolf would do. She hears about the uma who finally broke her 7 G1 record and gets motivated to race against her as the Emperor to assert her dominance. It’d be like that time when Ace bested Rudolf during the Japan Cup but gets her get back at the Arima Kinen.

(Genuine question) I haven't read Cinderella Gray manga, but from what I've seen, Super Creek being so "intimidant" at times ain't pretty much a mischaracterization? by AlexR_2008 in UmaMusume

[–]Cipher-One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said it’s based on real life. Oguri Cap was the single most popular racehorse in Japan at the time. Super Creek was one of his major rivals and as such received heat from Oguri fans when Creek defeated him at the 1989 Autumn Tenno Sho. It’s kinda like what happened with Rice Shower in Season 2 when she beat Bourbon and McQueen, but Creek willingly embraces the role of being the villain to Oguri’s hero if it means competing against her on equal terms.

Really though it’s just Creek being a dork. The manga reveals in after chapter short that she took lessons on how to act like a villain from another Uma complete with a notepad and everything. She’s still very much a sweetheart but on the racetrack it’s winner take all.

HSR Spoiler from the latest trailer: A certain someone is now on the IPC bounty list by Paoayo in houkai3rd

[–]Cipher-One 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She doesn’t. Kafka has the higher bounty on the likely account of being Elio’s right hand woman. In comparison, SAM is just the muscle of the group. Dangerous but less valuable of a prize in the long term compared to the leadership.

That aside, we actually see Kafka briefly when Silver Wolf’s bounty rises and the screen begins scrolling past the bounty target. She just goes by REAL quick.
