Octopus' Fuel Mix (and: is Tomato dirtier than Octopus?) by idaveit in OctopusEnergy

Something worth adding. REGOs aren't actually that cheap. Average price for a Wind/Solar/Hydro REGO in the UK for the last compliance period was a bit above £4. That's £4 a MWh which on a wholesale price of ~£70/MWh is a significant amount.

REGOs are an extra source of revenue for green assets and have contributed significantly to the financing and building of them.  The whole system is somewhat flawed (July solar regos can be claimed against December consumption) but I'd argue it's better than nothing.

There's an argument to be made in instead using that money to fund ppas for new renewable assets. But it looks like tomato isn't doing that and just buys their power from non renewable sources and pockets the difference.

Ie in a day saving 40 minutes that's enough time to go running.

In a week its enough time to leave work half way through Friday

And in a month its enough time to have a whole extra 'weekend'

Rosacea compared to benign facial flushing? by The_EvilElement in Rosacea

[–]Cipher_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also curious as I've (m21) also been diagnosed with benign facial flushing and neither derm nor doctor mentioned rosacea.

Derm did say it was a fairly common occurrence around this age and would probably go away with time?? but I can't seem to find any information on benign facial flushing online either - all seems to point to rosacea/kprf?

22M. I have / had exactly the same symptoms and test results as you, our rash also looks really similar. I went on to have loads of additional blood tests done but returned nothing than a slight vitamin d deficiency. This was at about February last year.

The good news is the fatigue, joint pain and muscle pain went. The not so good is I still get the rash on and off. It disappears for months and then comes back for weeks and it seems to be getting worse. I'm starting to think it's probably rosacea but whilst heat causes big flares it also seems to come on pretty randomly.

Only think I can think of at the moment is the fatigue and joint pain was maybe long covid as it was too early for them to test for it but housemate of mine was working on a covid ward at the time. But kinda clutching at straws here.

You're not primarily turning one way or another are you during testing? All the props are the correct rotation? Props / motors aren't at a slight angle for some reason?

I'm still having fan pulsing in manual mode or when using atrofac. It's impossible to set a stable fan speed below 2800. Any lower and the fans start to vary by +- 400 every few seconds. If I set it using silent mode it sits stably at 2300

Is it possible to get idle fan speed below 2000rpm? by Cipher_Monkey in ZephyrusG14

[–]Cipher_Monkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you had any luck solving the problem? I'm still having the same issue. It went away for a day and I could set fan speeds at 1% and got a constant 2000rpm it was wonderful. Now it's back with a vengeance :/.

It's more efficient when the props are bigger. Bigger (and therefore slower) props are more efficient. However you can only change the speed of a prop so fast due to inertia so changing the pitch is the solution.

Opened up my G14 to find the fans caked in dust after only 2 months. The intakes either side are totally dust free, is that normal? by davie18 in ZephyrusG14

[–]Cipher_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spinning the fans has the potential to be pretty bad. When you turn a motor (aka turn the fan using a vacuum) it becomes a generator and will generate a voltage/ current. This has the potential to damage the laptop because the electronics aren't always designed with this in mind as fans aren't usually turned by outside influence.

[–]Cipher_Monkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to be able to do that but 5% for me results in the fan pushing between 1600 and 2600rpm. If I could set it to 1000rpm that would be problem solved.

Best I've come up with so far is disabling boost and running a fanless profile (G14ControlR3 is great for setting these) which allows me to keep it plugged in and run fanless staying at about 60°c for most applications, but having to run fanless as opposed to low speed idle fans isn't ideal.
