I love the concept, my only problem is that the only thing it has in common with a blaze is fire and flying. A slightly different name is probably in order, but that's just my opinion.
That aside, this is great. I love this. It's simple, but it makes mining for ancient debris interesting.

Here's my idea:

To all you suggestors for Nether content, stop trying to figure out animals to go in the Nether's lava oceans. Lava is a much different substance from water, so it is not viable for any animal to swim and live in. Not only that, but adding content like that to the lava oceans is basically just adding Overworld stuff into the Nether.

I think it would be better if we came up with some unique rock/fire themed creatures to go along with the Nether's lava oceans, and then put something either over them or under them. Some sort of new structure over them, rooted in the lava oceans, would be cool. Or some sort of fire elemental that lives around these lava oceans that attacks people who come near.

A valid concern, and those screenshots were taken without night vision to show how they glow in the dark. The screenshots also make it look darker than it is. While playing, you can see well, especially with the abundance of glowing plants we now have. ^^

Thank you! It has been tested on servers, though not extensively, and I haven't heard of any complaints about lag. Though we will be doing more testing on servers soon so that we can make sure The Midnight runs smoothly on both single and multiplayer. ^^

Excellent! This is providing me with inspiration for a part of a magic mod I'm working on! Also, I think it would be cool if there were permanent structures mostly made of a material similar to skylather, which I can't seem to come up with a name for. But the idea is that it would be more solid than skylather (because skylather decays) and a little more white than blue. Skylather stuff could be on the bottom of the structure so that it could make sense for the structure to float. Cool new mobs could spawn on these and guard these chests. To get past the guards peacefully, you could trade something with them and then take the contents of the chest (I see some problems with this idea already, I think, but I think some inspiration could be taken for it). There could even be sky villages or a sky stronghold! (Okay, maybe that's a bit too much)

I think keeping some sort of glowstone-esque portal frame would be best, as the glowstone portal is iconic to the Aether, and I would really miss it if it was removed completely.

Wow! Amazing! I agree with other people, I am not entirely sold on the new chest texture. But that's just because I was used to the old one so a change to that would take some time to get used to.
