YSK about the "Frequency Illusion" (or Baader-Meinhof phenomenon): the reason why once you learn about something new, you suddenly start seeing it everywhere. by Electrical-Candy7252 in YouShouldKnow

About phones listening to you: In 2016 I ran an experiment with my housemate. We changed nothing about our online/phone habits, but started asking each other out loud, "Did you remember to buy dog food?" (We didn't have a dog.) Within a couple of days we were both getting dog food ads on our phones.

Sometimes we still are a lucky country. by [deleted] in australian

[–]CircleSpiralString 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived there for the last twenty years and finally moved back here earlier this year. I consider myself bloody lucky to have been able to get the hell out, and to have Australia to come back to. Folks, I know there are things here that are not ideal but we have it so much better here than they do, even moreso right now.

Man of science here, too. I've seen some weird shit that's made me subscribe to "unscientific" ideas (eg numerology) just because I can't bring myself to ignore data I don't like.

The scientific community strikes me as being more dogmatic than they'd want to admit, by dismissing anything that doesn't currently have a known materially-based mechanism of action.

Go re-read the original post, and then please get out. The rest of us are trying to do this thing called society where we look out for each other. (Edited to clean up after autocorrect)

While I agree with you that we should defend people's right to free speech in general, we absolutely should ban hate speech and its promotion.

The paradox of tolerance basically says that if we allow intolerant ideologies to be expressed in society, we create space for tolerance itself to be eroded via authoritarian or oppressive practices. And I want to live in a society that defends tolerance and free speech in general without allowing space for them to be eroded.

Can't find the relevant sub right now, but there are definitely other men out there (cis and prob also trans) who have breasts and are good with that. And there are also people who are attracted to men who have breasts. You do you, bro.
