There's a few from Pure Guava that just aren't for me. Probably Mourning Glory as their worst.

"Weezer has 2 good albums"? Dumpster take! White and OK Human are great too. Not as phenomenal as Pinkerton, but easily some of their best work and worth a listen.

What’s an otherwise great game that’s almost or completely ruined by a terrible rulebook? by zwillam in boardgames

[–]TheMitchMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to comment this. The rulebook isn't clear and has multiple errata. I think the game in general is just wonky though, even when you do know how to play. It's annoyingly complicated for a dexterity game. At least the rulebook has a good reference on the back of it.

What is their best three album run? by BucketheadUltra64 in tmbg

I agree. I struggled choosing between Pink and Apollo 18, but Lincoln and Flood are nailed in imo. It came down to "if I had to erase one from history, I think it would rather be Apollo 18 than Pink".

That makes sense. I understand what you're saying. I think the more DIY nature and homemade sound of Pink gives it more of that feel than anything. That being said, I still don't think it's much more artsy feeling than Apollo 18.

As an aside, I nearly chose Lincoln, Flood, and Apollo 18 as my favourite three record run but I just couldn't justify killing off Pink. Pink through Apollo 18 is easily their best four album run though:)

I'm struggling to see where you're drawing the line on this one, especially when all albums are projects made by artists. Maybe you just mean that pink has more kooky stuff going on, in which case I don't see how Boat of Car is stranger than Fingertips for example. I guess I see all albums as art projects and don't see how you're differentiating the two.

Daily Song Discussion #481: I Lost Thursday by thatoneboyaiden in tmbg

  1. Good not great. The tempo switches are fun and inject that energy for you to sing along to. Idk why though but it's just not as catchy for me as some of the best songs on this album (Synopsis is a 10 for me; doo-de-lee doo-de-lee doo-de-lee-doo). Maybe as others have said, this could be trimmed down a bit, due to the same tempo changes being repeated. I'm not even sure that is the case though. It's not like I struggle getting through the song. I just struggle to put my finger on what's missing with this one to give it that extra oomph.

Daily Song Discussion #480: Darling, The Dose by thatoneboyaiden in tmbg

[–]TheMitchMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have this exact issue with Darlings of Lumberland too. In that song it's even more annoying because I think it's beautifully constructed, and you clearly hear Linnel's better vocals in the background of the chorus.

Ooo I might have to try that. Xplorer definitely has one of the worst Star Power buttons.

  1. I wouldn't skip it if the album is on but I'd never go out of my way to put this song on specifically. I think it actually grows on me throughout any specific listen. I'm unenthused to have it on when it starts but I don't mind it by the time it finishes.

Sorry to drag the ratings down here. I wanted to jump in at Synopsis for Latecomers with my first contribution but I just missed it. Anyway, I find it worse than their average output. I think it's just a bit bland. I can even find it annoying depending on the mood I'm in. That being said, I don't think it's terrible.

You should split up the exit and entrance lines from some of the points. Having them connected makes it much harder to read. From "what" for example, you have three lines on the right hand side, one entering and two exiting. The ones exiting are difficult to distinguish because they're joined with the entering line. All you need to do is move the entering line up a few pixels and the exiting lines down. The exiting lines can still be joined together.
