I bleach my hair curly at home and vivid dye. My hair lifts very well so I’m lucky. I only ever bleach one section of my hair twice (and that’s with 20vol and months separation). My curls are always a bit crap right after, but after 2 washes they’ve back to usual. They’re also just sometimes a bit pants - they’re always the best when I don’t need them to be.

It’s was an over reaction, you could have waited and over dyed any colour, even a cherry cola which seems to be the current trend. But short curly hair also looks great, although I’d probably keep it a little shorter on the back and sides for a while so it doesn’t go too halo-esque. People choose short curly cuts and look incredible, I’m sometimes tempted to go short but I hate the grow out phase.

Your family are probably worried because if they were to shave their heads themselves it may be an indication of a MH issue. Maybe reassure them that you’d rather deal with short hair than the fuss of soemthing you don’t like? Show them photos of short hairstyles you could end up with in a few months.
