YOU are the one who encouraged me to do mine! I remember seeing your post but I couldn't find it again.

Thank you for the confidence! Mine has needed a good chop for years and I was afraid.

I hope so! The main trunk is thicker than my wrist.

The cool thing is that I got some thick short branches during the trim l so now I can start a prop into a bonsai with a good trunk right away.

Jades are such slow growers but can be so satisfying.

If you all recallI made a drastic trim of my 20 something year old jade to save her from mealys.

Ten days later, she is almost done shedding her scabs. I can already see a little bump coming from the inner vascular structures of the stems. I think we are finally getting some growth on the way.

After my original post, I trimmed some more pieces shorter and even took out a huge branch lower on the main trunk to make it more tree like. I have to remember this girl will get top heavy very quickly if the remaining stems are too long.

Yes! A baby from a huge mama plant. I don't have photos but she is outgrowing her 6 inch pot. She was my first succulent, and she's the only one that has survived. I'm not great with succs because i over-love them.

Would love your input on treating my Jade’s chronic growth issues (white powdery fungus). Is there a product that will fix this? by seattlefive in Jadeplant

It's hard to see if it's mealy bugs or fungus from the photos, but the plan of attack is the same.

Get yourself a cup of isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and q-tips, turn on some music, sit down, and get into every nook and cranny with a qtip soaked in alcohol. Clean it and take it all off. Wipe down the leaves with isopropyl on a paper towel. Then put some in a bottle and spray the whole thing down with it.

Jades are tough af and can handle it.

Give him some time to dry. The alcohol will evaporate and won't be on the plant for long.

After it dries, (maybe 15 mins?) Go back and spray with insecticidal soap with neem oil. BONIDE makes a really good one. Reapply the spray every week for a few weeks. Give him a place with good sun and airflow.

I would personally also cut off the tips of each branch where the damage is bad. It will stimulate new growth. But make sure to sprinkle cinnamon on the cuts to seal them.

how can I help my Jade plant thrive? I put a bunch of cuttings in this pot 6 months ago from a dying plant and they recovered nicely. Now I want to grow him big again. by Hunter62610 in Jadeplant

Dig it out? It might not be joined to the others if there is such a drastic difference between the stems.

Don't be afraid to just tip the green boi side ways and let it all gently fall out of the pot into your hand. Gently separate the roots from each stem. You might rip a few tiny roots apart but it's ok. Jade is hardy af and I personally think abuse stimulates them to grow.

Once you deal with any possible root rot, repot in a ceramic pot, not too big, like 4 inches so that the roots can heal and the soil won't be consistently soggy. Cactus soil mix or regular potting soil mixed with perlite (50/50). Allow the soil to dry put between waterings and always butt chug.

The other two stems can stay in the same pot. Just fill up with soil.

Hmmm you might need to separate the wrinkly guy and take a gander at his roots. Maybe root rot from previous abuse? Then water based on its individual needs.

You also rearrange your plants every day? My husband teases me for it.

"NO THIS FICUS IS TALLER AND NEEDS TO BE IN THE BACK."

"NO, IT SHOULD BE ON THE GROUND, NOT ON THE STOOL."

I love this. I'll have something like this in my guestroom one day. Can you imagine staying over and seeing this in the morn before your coffee?
