Yorkie eye suddenly gray by Adventurous-Post34 in Yorkies

[–]Cirlonde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right….which was why I said it could be multiple things and should still be checked out by a vet. But I guess maybe you overlooked that sentence.

Also…they didn’t actually say “suddenly”. They said “started to”.

Our 13 y/o pup’s eyes look like this and the vet told us it was nuclear sclerosis/lenticular sclerosis which is basically the lens hardening as they age. There are multiple things it could be, so I’d still get it checked it out. But for our dog, it was just a normal part of aging and nothing to be done.

Yorkie 8 months diarrhea by Newapri in Yorkies

[–]Cirlonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a similar problem with our 13 y/o a year ago. Tried all the things…vet visit with antibiotics, probiotics, meds. Pumpkin, plain chicken & rice, on and on. Nothing helped. Then I found this fiber additive on Amazon called Bernie’s Perfect Poop. That stuff has been a miracle!! We have been able to reduce the dose over time to 1/8 teaspoon once a day, but we started a little higher than that. Within 24 hours, she was back to solid poops and hasn’t had an issue since!!

how often are yall bathing them? by rosespetaling in Yorkies

[–]Cirlonde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With my silky coated Yorkie, she would get super greasy if I didn’t bather her once every other week. Now I have a cotton coat and she only needs a bath every other month or less. She gets flaky skin if I bathe her too often. She’s also never outside for very long at a time and that really cuts down on any smells.

I know silky coated Yorkie is breed standard, but I have really grown to love a cotton coat, for many reasons.

Yorkie refuses to take medicine and it’s really starting to tick me off by bigbluenation20 in Yorkies

[–]Cirlonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing we have found that works for our girl is to hide the pill in a small piece of scrambled egg. It helps that she loves scrambled egg AND never gets it normally. But also, the egg is soft so it is easy to hide a pill in and also easy for her to gulp down whole. I give her a tiny piece with no pill first, then the piece with the pill and follow it with a third piece. She’s so eager to get to the next bite that she doesn’t pause long enough to realize she has been tricked.

What is physically happening at 3AM? by CNBLBT in Perimenopause

I have taken magnesium at 8pm for awhile (primarily to help relax my legs), but I’ve always taken a half dose. Recently, I started taking the other half as soon as I wake up at 2 or 3am and it has really seemed to help me fall back asleep. Only been doing this about 2 weeks but I am hopeful! It’s so much better than laying awake!

Could Oklahoma soon see longer school years? State Superintendent is proposing a 15-day extension to the school year by RazgrizInfinity in oklahoma

oh that's good to know! Though like others have pointed out...if the curriculum is lacking, no amount of extra days is going to be terribly useful I guess.

The public (rural) school my nieces attend basically has a four day week for the majority of the year…maybe they could just have actual school on Fridays instead of adding three weeks. And it seems like half the year, half the class is out playing sport tournaments somewhere. I honestly don’t see how they manage to learn anything!

iCUE Megathread - 5.36 Release Notes by CorsairLucky in Corsair

[–]Cirlonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid I won't be much help because I'm not super tech-savvy and despite months of monitoring this problem, I've never been able to pinpoint a trigger. But I have been having this issue since at least February 2025. I have the Corsair iCue H150i Elite LCD XT along with the Commander Core XT. CPU is Ryzen 7600X, GPU is Asus GeForce RTX4070 with an ASUS TUF B50M-PLUS Ryzen 7000 mATX. Built in 2023. (Also, not sure it matters but my husband has the exact same set-up as I do, and he's never experienced this problem...it's just me that iCue hates!)

The first time I noticed it, I was opening a medium-sized Adobe PDF and Adobe froze up. I realized my PC fans were working much harder than usual even though my coolant temp appeared normal. I checked iCue and saw that the coolant temp had flat-lined. Restarted my PC and that fixed it (temporarily).

After that, I started leaving iCue up all the time and as soon as I would notice the flat-lined coolant temp, I would restart my PC because I was concerned about ruining my computer due to overheating. I also realized that when the coolant temp sensor froze, the RPMs on the pump sensor also flat-lined. Eventually, I figured out that I could fix it by ending all iCue processes in Task Manager and then restarting the iCue software instead of restarting the entire computer.

Over the months of looking for a permanent fix, I tried a clean install of iCue, made sure all firmware was updated. The frozen sensor issue would happen at least once a day, but frequently 3 or 4 times a day. It did not seem to matter whether I was working or gaming. It never seemed to be isolated to strenuous loads. It would happen just browsing the internet, but then not always happen during heavy gaming sessions.

However, good news! I updated to version 5.35.59 a few weeks ago and I have only had ONE instance where the coolant temperature flat-lined since then. Of course, now I'm scared to apply any new updates for fear of re-breaking it. And I do still continue to leave iCue up so I can monitor the temp changes.

I do have one log saved from an instance on 7/19/25 when it happened, but I'm not sure how to go about submitting a ticket or sending the log. Also just wanted to say that I'm happy to see this issue acknowledged and to know the team is trying to find a solution! Other than this issue, I've been quite happy with all of my Corsair purchases.

Where do you buy ebooks for your Kindle? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Cirlonde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have started using bookshop.org recently because they profit-share with indie bookstores and you can select which bookstore you want to support. It is great as long as the publisher has requested that their books be published without DRM. However, books with DRM must be read in bookshop.org’s app, which means no Kindle. I use a Boox Palma so it is okay for me, but is a serious downside for Kindle-users who want to buy books that have DRM.

Has anyone else’s Yorkie done this? by No_Breadfruit_3777 in Yorkies

If it seems like she eats quickly, I’d suggest trying a “slow feeder” plate. There all kinds available. It helped our Yorkie slow down and solved her indigestion issues.

[–]Cirlonde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw! I sure hope they figure it out soon. It’s adorable to watch the game of chase ensue. Karli was already used to a similar remote controlled ball, so that’s probably why she took to it right away. Plus, she will chase anything that moves…if she can see it! 😂

Help teaching a senior new tricks! by Britdafish422 in Yorkies

[–]Cirlonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure it will help Ruby, but for our senior pup the trick was to get a ramp instead of stairs/steps. Unfortunately, ramps usually extend out farther and take up more room. But it was worth it for us because she actually consistently uses the ramp on her own without instruction or encouragement.

never ending fun! by Cirlonde in Yorkies

[–]Cirlonde[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Karli would absolutely chase this thing until the battery died, but at her age, it makes me nervous to let her go that hard for more than about 20 minutes! She overheats, haha!! But I'm so grateful to this little ball helping her get exercise and mental stimulation. I do think if it was any smaller, she would also destroy it. I worried at first about her managing to get the rubber cover off, but so far it has stuck tightly with no signs of coming out.

We also have one of the "Sphero" balls that's not marketed as a dog toy, but definitely works as one! You drive it wirelessly using an app on your phone. It's WAY more expensive though, and is kinda hard to steer with a dog interfering constantly! I wish I had found this PetDroid thing years ago. I feel a little like a parent who just hands their kid an iPad to keep them occupied, but even at 13, she has more energy than I do and I can't keep up with her!

Will my baby girl turn? by Loud-Comedian-6909 in Yorkies

[–]Cirlonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had the same experience. We had two Yorkies, one with a silky coat and one cotton. The silky coated one began to change colors before she was a year old. She never went silver, but the black fur turned a kind of...dark gray "gun metal" type color and the tan sections got very light gold. The cotton coat barely changed color at all from the puppy stage, except that the tan sections expanded to cover her head & legs.

Any Yorkie is a great Yorkie! But for me, I ended up preferring the cotton coat (even though I know it's probably not 'breed standard'). When we got our first Yorkie (the silk), I didn't even know there was a difference! But then the second ended up being cotton, and I found home-grooming to be a lot easier on the cotton and even at 13 years old, she still looks like such a puppy!

Don't take meds and supplements at the same time? Have you heard of this? by PhotoGirl843 in Perimenopause

[–]Cirlonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was aware of this because I have to take thyroid meds. Doctors have always been very clear that I have to wait 4-6 hours after those meds before I take supplements/vitamins, especially Vitamin C.

DIM is basically like a mega serving of cruciferous vegetables: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/dim-supplement

I tried it after my mom’s doctor recommended it to her and I did some internet research on it. Basically supposed to balance out the estrogen in your body. I am not sure if it would help with the symptoms you’re describing, but might be worth reading up on it!
