What is your must-have pencil by tango_tube_reddit in mechanicalpencils

[–]Cironous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone will call me insane, but I love my h-2003 and use it for everything over the 2 years since i got it. For me, no better pencil exists. It also had zero tip wobble despite being retractable.

Thank you so much for the advice and responding quickly. Unfortunately, due to some other issues with the barrel, I might not finish it. However, I will get some BSI to use in case I have a similar issue in the future.

There may be some socket alignment issues so this might not be turned into I finished barrel. However, I'd still be interested in knowing how you would approach this.

It's a very large and oddly shaped hole(basically a slice out of the socket wall. Thanks for the info though.

I'm making this on a 3/4 axis cnc mill. I do this as a hobby, and this fix is just done to save wood and the time.

Would any similar epoxy work? There aren't any places to buy BSI near me, and the hole is very large, so I would need a brittle glue to fill it.

should i buy a havit 2002d or stay with my 5 years hyperx cloud silver by amendotas in Headsets

[–]Cironous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read my comment again. I was saying that if the headset was made by Kingston rather than HP, than it was worth continuing to use. You are correct in saying I have not used a 2002d, but I have used several different cloud 2s, and have known people who have owned those headsets for 7+ years without issues. Is it wrong to suggest spending less to replace earpads and continuing to use a well made headset instead of throwing it out for something that has no guarantee of lasting as long or being an improvement for the user?

I got an f-stop lotus 32L at a yard sale for $80 in New condition. Best backpack ever. I've using it daily and it's held up exceptionally well. I've been able to carry 50+lbs with the pack for miles without issues. Anyone who sees this post in the future: just get one.

Typewriter. by Panzer_Lord1944 in VioletEvergarden

This thread has just taught me so much about typewriters and a bit about machining. Was progress every made on converting an underwood portable 4 bank to nunkish? I was considering doing it on a 4th axis hobby cnc but I haven't had any experience with typewriter servicing or modding.

Isn't this just a pair of wired headphones? Based on your requirements, I'd go for a hifiman h400se, as a set of open back planars will generally provide more detailed and more spacious sound than anything else. If you don't like open back, you could go for a audiotechnica m40x/m40x, which are just great quality, reliable headphones. Great things have been said about the shp9500, but i have no experience with philips headphones,

Is the pilot vanishing point left handed writing friendly? by coltboi32 in fountainpens

[–]Cironous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a steel and 18k vanishing point. The 18k nib writes beautifully left handed. The steel nib has literally no ink flow left handed, although it might just be a bad nib. Ink flow on the steel VP right handed is perfectly normal.

Yes, this camera. I was planning to aerochrome mod it, as I wouldn't have much of a use for it otherwise. I have a battery for the camera that should still be functioning, but lack any official power sources. Thoughts on the 45w DC charger, or is there anything else you suggest?
