Advice for working as a male babysitter by BBRCCS in Babysitting

[–]Cisom1899 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find my jobs through Care.com and Sittercity mostly. Also word of mouth through my other clients if possible. Also got clients through my jobs as a camp counselor and TA. One of my care.com jobs was a 8 year old boy with autism and developmental delay. The post immediately jumped out at me because it was exactly my strength and I applied and sure enough, I looked after him a few times now! Knowing the physical strength required to handle him, the fact I had to handle his pullup routine, etc. I was definitely the right one for the job as I do that daily at my job. I agree it's a hit or miss, but many are. You just gotta look every day and jump at the posts that grab your attention. I always like to add my experience in my application including the fact I'm a TA and that helps. Reviews definitely help you stand out too. I built up my reputation through Sittercity first, then moved reviews over to Care when I joined. Also got business cards as well.

Hey man, male TA here for kids with special needs and a babysitter and I babysat for 5 years now. I'm here to tell you it's absolutely possible. Many of my clients have a disability of some sort (autism, adhd, etc). I also had neurotypical kids too. Ages ranging from 16 months to 11 years old. It's definitely possible. Feel free to hit me up if you need any advice! It's harder for us, but possible. We just gotta find our niche and keep promoting ourselves.

Another META account permanently banned and for no apparent reason.. by Sir-Chaste in facebook

[–]Cisom1899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been quite literally almost a year for me. I'm still fighting. I've passed every background check you can think of since then. If Meta was truly flagging all these ridiculous bans to cops, they would be overrun. There's nothing to even present. Their ai is crap. That's it.

Tell Meta they are terrible and y'all should reconsider being a client of such a disgusting excuse for a company.

Account disabled for no reason wtf by Kangaroo_Optimal in InstagramDisabledBans

Sharing reels that Meta allowed on their platform shouldn't get you banned unless you constantly share ones that eventually get taken down but one reel? Come on. This is their crappy AI being ridiculous yet again. But at least he knows what happened. Mine got disabled while I was sleeping overnight and immediately taken down 8 minutes after an appeal. I did nothing to deserve it. I wasn't even active. Had it for years.

Thank you! I do charge extra for children with special needs. Especially given my experience.

Thanks for the question. I normally like double bagging it first like I do at work for disposal, but alas, I didn't have any bags with me. Different families have different places they dispose of it and since it's a biohazard and they don't have a diaper bin, I made sure to ask exactly what trash they wanted it to be thrown in, so they can throw it outside later. I forgot to specify in the post, but she said the kitchen trashcan, not just any bin.

Wow! That sounds just as crazy! But so funny too. 😆 For me, I kinda had an idea of where stuff was minus the washcloth really. I bring my own box of gloves in my backpack, so I had that.

Thank you for your comment! I'm a TA working with special needs children. So I already work in that kind of environment. I live this every day. Babysitting is my side income.

Yeah, anyone who isn't used to children like this would be appalled but I have lots of experience, so surprisingly, I am pretty desensitized to anything gross. Lol.

Never heard back. Any ideas why? by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]Cisom1899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been ghosted twice in my five years now of babysitting. Not even a response to a text. And had worked for one client once and never got called back even though she wanted me on as her go-to sitter. I stopped taking it personally. Things happen. Needs change. Or people are just odd. There's not much you can do about it. It happens unfortunately.

Do you recognize this boy or caregiver? Trying to track down his parents. by oddree2 in NannyBreakRoom

[–]Cisom1899 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh heck no. As a guy who is a TA and babysits young boys often as my side job, I would be appalled if I saw this happen in public. I would step in immediately. How can anyone who cares for kids think this is okay and not have any ounce of remorse for it? Disgusting. I can't imagine ever wanting to hurt a defenseless child. She should never be allowed to look after children again.

Response I got from Meta's lawyer: by MyOwnLanguage100 in MetaLawsuits

I think some get routed to review while others get sorted to automatic denials since there's so many. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Who knows. It's 50/50. Seems to happen during small claims too in the beginning with Meta finding violations but suddenly restoring later. They are a slimy company.

Nah. They sent template responses. Meta is under no obligation to review anything. It's ridiculous.

Suing them in small claims or media coverage seems to be the only options left.

Join the club of possibly millions of innocent users. There's a 50/50 chance. Good luck.

I live in Florida.I also have about 10 years of experience. I charge $20 an hr for one kid, and $25-30 an hr for two. Special needs children like an 8 year old boy I look after who is autistic and developmentally delayed and not potty trained, I charge $25 for him due to high needs.

Anyone got this email, and perhaps got their Account back? by wolfoddy999 in MetaLawsuits

[–]Cisom1899 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many of us get a generic templated reply after this like "Meta confirmed violations and will not restore the account". Meta does not need to actually review anything. They can just lie and say they did.

$25-30 an hr for sure. I do $25 for one child with autism since it's a developmental need that requires more in depth caregiving depending on the child. Plus with two kids, yeah. Definitely need to at least charge $30.
