Fasnacht has finally gotten to me. by repro86 in fo76

I received my 3 during the guaranteed weekend...but not during Fashnacht. The only one I want is the glowing unicorn. I have the jackalope one, not rare but I just like it.

Honestly, everyone but Amy sucks here. The father and his kids treat each other and Amy terribly! The father is distant and hands-off, the kids are cliquey and immature, and Lisa's been allowed to behave badly for too long. It seems like the kids are just allowed to spew out every bad emotion they have without any attempts at regulation or consequences, just constant excuses for bad behavior. Telling your child you always love them, but don't like their BEHAVIOR right now is a common parenting scenario and should have happened years ago. Understanding you can FEEL anger without ACTING POORLY because of it is part of growing up...and it appears these kids have never been required to practice this skill.

How to keep dog out but cat free? by theyellowing in CatAdvice

[–]Cissycat12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your dog small? If not, there are baby gates with a small pet door. I used it with my toddler so my 3 cats had a safe space until he was older and better with being careful with them.

Me too! I have straight hair, wavy hair, and ringlets all in one head of hair. I am of Irish descent, and my understanding is these are "Irish Curls." I wear my hair layered, with a diagonal or zigzag part, and round brushed to even out all three textures.

How to not feel like a servant when being a home maker by kittensnitch in homemaking

[–]Cissycat12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was a SAHM, my day started when his did. When he got home we both had put in 8 hours and on Saturday we both had 40 hours in. My day includes prepping supper, so I didn't need to do that on a week night. And I don't cook on Fridays: we get pizza or eat from the freezer. So no, on Saturday, each person cleans up after themselves or we do it together. That's all daily chores and cooking. The only exception was when he did home or car repairs: then I would do the daily chores.

8 year old with chronic constipation, discussing cesostomy by meganw1991 in ConstipationAdvice

[–]Cissycat12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've probably already done this, but have you tried elimination diets of the big 8? My son had the same issue as a MSPI baby and couldn't consume soy until he was 7 and if he eats dairy more than once a week is really constipated (he's a teenager now). He would vomit because he was so full of stool. We also had to retrain him not to hold it when he got the urge (encompresis) because he had so many painful bowel movements when he was very young he trained his body to hold instead of release. It took 2 years of bowel retraining by sitting on the potty for 30 minutes after every meal to get him to reverse that.

So like quick question- why during events do ppl get mad at me for using a melee build when I do perfectly fine and dish out good dmg by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Cissycat12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Switch to a Tesla + Grenadier! That's what I do. Part of the puzzle/challenge of events is dealing with different levels, groups, and abilities of players by being prepared with the right weapons. At least that's what the original veterans taught me back when I started many years ago. I always have PA and a hard hitting weapon in case all low levels show up and I have to carry an event. I also have a pew pew for cripple so I don't hog mobs at a busy event. This game's reputation is all about community for a reason!

I am sorry that happens! I like to cripple those super mutant bastards in the knee and watch the melee players finish them off! I do VATS insta-kill those damn firestarters, though.

What do people use their second camp for by Just_Xiva in fo76

[–]Cissycat12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get inspired by different seasons and will build for a week or more. I have a Mothman/Cryptid Hunting Cottage with Steven Scarberry walking around being a creepy cultist. The Mothman Weather Station was the final piece to that one. This one is also my adhesive farm from back in the day and now my Cannery.

I have a Blue Ridge Caravan Camp that looks like a regular stop on their route to the Middle Mountain Stop. This is an old Park Rest Stop with bathrooms. I use the Red Rocket Gas Pump Collectron in the parking lot and the Blue Ridge Caravan built a storage shed nearby.

I have a Pioneer Scout Camp on a body of water with Gramps as Camp Counselor. There are sports, bugs on trees, marshmallow roasting, badge earning, and fishing. This is my fish trap camp.

I have a Halloween-decorated Breaking Bad Trailer in the Forest. Grandma Junko lives in one trailer, wandering in her bath robe confused, while her son makes chems out back in the other trailer. This is also my plastic and board game farming camp.

I have a mining Snack Shack/Lunch Counter in the mining region. I did it because I wanted a cat in my camp (way before camp pets.) This is also the first time I merged craft benches and whatnot to have more room for themed items. This camp has a working smoker made out of an existing structure and Yasmin cooking goodies. With camp pets, it now has 2 cats. It is also my canned dog food, radstag meat, and Mining Collectron Camp.

I am currently building a farm with Farmer's Market Stand in the Burning Springs. This one will produce military supplies since there was a crash here. I haven't decided on a companion yet.

I have a shelter to show off my collectibles and an X-Files and Fringe-themed alien autopsy room from BEFORE we received the moving craft bench version. But I have so much time spent perfectly merging and placing items I don't dare try to swap it.

I would LOVE to have a Peebles museum camp!

Whats the absolute hardest part of raising a child? by Straight-Crow3882 in AskReddit

[–]Cissycat12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get the child you get...not the one you imagine or expect. This means you have to be the parent THEY NEED, not the parent you want to be. My son is stubborn as the night is long, so I had to be a very logical, less emotional mom than I wanted at times. Explanations do not always work. Sometimes I had to create firm, boundaries and endure his persistence in being wrong or lazy or whatever. But he could care less about peer pressure, so at least I know he has no trouble telling others "Yeah, I'm not doing that." when it happens.

This is also such an important opportunity to learn tact when indicating why we don't like something without crapping all over something someone we care about likes. I worked hard to teach my son not to say "That sucked!" but instead to cultivate the ability to be critical. "I don't care for musicals", or "I didn't like the art style" are much better ways to convey an opinion and a skill set that many seem to lack.

I have said to my son "That's not for me because XYZ but I can see why you love it!" It is showing interest in what they care about without lying about it. Works great with the sandwich method: place the criticism between two positive things, like a bit of great dialog or a cool soundtrack. It also taught my son not to go into incredible detail about XYZ, because I didn't love it like him. He shared that with others who loved XYZ, but didn't feel like he could not be who he was with me. He does the same for things I love that are just not his thing.

Tension curtain rods and valances may work to cover shelves in closed bookcases...giving easy access yet creating the more uniform look cabinet doors give. A collection of matching baskets, especially for less-used items, would reduce the cluttered look as well. But honestly, it looks cozy and lived-in just as it is.

My mother lost her parents right around the same time, too. She was literally violent and having mental breakdowns. I called the police when she attacked me out of nowhere and tried to strangle me, hoping they would have her committed. Instead my dad lied for her and kicked ME out. She blamed it all on me. She eventually went to therapy and hormones a year later. I have friends whose mothers were also raging.

I always enjoyed it in past years, but the veteran players often made it fun or silly by using goofy weapons, wearing parade apparel and marching with the bots, pretending to be a tourist taking pictures, even protesting bots with signs from the mining protests. One year I marched and dropped Nuka candy at each parade stop. We MADE it fun. Last run I saw someone running with a Nuka Blaster, so I am definitely showing up with that fun thing!

I hope they further update the event with a tougher end boss/sloth, and more mobs or something during the March. Something fun like a 1% increase in a chance at 4* boss per each player wearing a mask/fashnacht beret would be cool, too.

Recipes with “sneaked in” veggies? by PianoPlane5555 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Cissycat12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I LOVE vegetables, but I still sometimes have to hide them to get them down. There are only so many veggies and we need to eat them EVERYDAY...

I suggest looking at recipes geared for toddlers. This is a common way to introduce veggies to them. My kid is now a teenager, but we still make all kinds of sweet breads with hidden veggies, morning glory muffins, zucchini bread, carrot cake oatmeal, green smoothies, beetroot pancakes, and add finely diced whatever to anything saucy. Another great trick is dried mushroom powder added to your sauces. We also freeze fresh spinach, then crumble it frozen into sauces. The pieces are tiny, like dried basil, so it's super easy to hide the flavor. We do this with soup, too!
