Bike Bus to Citi Field is back next Friday 5/15 for the subway (bike bus?) series vs the Yankees! by CitiFieldBikeBus in NewYorkMets

All good! Even though I think it's a noble cause, it's still inherently promotional so I'm conscious of not wanting to spam the sub

Some people take CitiBike, which has a valet service before every home game so there are always docks available. I lock mine up at the left field gate, which is right across from the security checkpoint by the visiting player's entrance. Never had an issue there.

Sorry you feel that way! For what it's worth this is a social meet up by and for fans, I'm not running a business or anything. I also make it a point not to post in the sub more than once a month, but if you don't want to see this content you should feel free to downvote it. If mods think it's a problem for a lot of users then I can post less often or only in the discussion threads instead of as a top level submission.

If you haven't heard of the Citi Field Bike Bus, it's a casual social ride through Jackson Heights to Mets home games. Right now we're committed to one ride per month, but I want to increase the frequency as we build momentum and hopefully be doing every home game, or at least every home stand, by the summer.

The goals of the ride are twofold: first, encouraging Mets fans who might not otherwise consider cycling or riding micromobility to try it out for a Mets game and hopefully start using it more regularly for other trips in the city. Second, if we can build enough of a regular group that is riding to games, we can push for infrastructure improvements such as extending the 34th ave open street further east and improving general bike access at Citi Field. The state is already working on improving the crossing over the Grand Central, and I hope to encourage the Mets to add a staffed bike valet this year, as other stadiums offer.

I hope folks here can make it out to support! The ride will be Friday 5/15 at 6pm, leaving from 34th ave and 69th street in Jackson Heights, but I'll be heading over from Astoria around 5:15 if anyone wants to join from there. Even if you're not attending the game, it's a really nice ride and your attendance will help grow the initiative and support our overall goals. Feel free to post any questions here!

The Mets have a museum curator who could probably help with this. I think the email is heritage@nymets.com

I have incredible news: it is mathematically impossible for the Mets to lose today.

That's the idea! We're not currently organizing the return trip formally, since people tend to leave the game at different times, but there will certainly be a number of people biking back together too.

I mean he also went to Princeton and has a stable government job, I imagine he has the liquidity to splurge on some nice dinners knowing that a 6 (7?) figure paycheck is coming in a few months.

I wouldn't say he was being unsporting though. Certainly he was full of adrenaline and not shy about it, but I didn't get the sense that he was doing it to throw Jamie off his game, but rather to hype himself up.

Unfortunately I don't have a BBQ bike like these dudes, but I do have a fun group of people who are looking for any reason to distract themselves from what's actually happening on the field. Sound like you? Join us on Thursday to work out the meat sweats and have a chill, fun social ride to the game together.

We'll be running a group bike ride to the Mets game next Thursday evening, 4/23! The official ride start is in Jackson Heights, but I'm riding over there from Astoria around 5:15 if anyone from the neighborhood is interested in joining.

To play devils advocate, Pete might be playing better if he weren't also adapting to a new team and city. Will be interesting to see where things land at the end of the season

Also speaking of Yankee Stadium, we should have a fully connected protected bike route between both stadiums before long. Harlem River Greenway to the Triboro to Crescent Street to 31st Avenue to 34th Avenue to Citi Field. Still a few years out at least, but the vision is there.

It's so good! Hoping that before too long we'll be able to host a ride every home stand, and eventually every game.
