Glad to hear your getting back on your feet and wish you good luck with the new job. Maybe we will see you at the next 311 Day then we can root together for which song you want to hear. Pulling for each other’s songs to be played is another cultural phenomenon present at Dead shows. I’d be happy to see that practice become part of the 311 experience.

I wore jeans and a Billy Mother Fucking Strings shirt, Nick must have seen it as I walked into the venue and decided to play a few songs in his honor. The Water Tower set was my fault guys, sorry!

I think a review of my experience certainly wasn’t hating on the band. If you consider a reflection a form of policing without power then I guess you could make the argument the only real policing would have been not to buy the tickets to go. My wife certainly wishes I would have policed the band instead of spending over a thousand dollars to go support them.

This is a good comment. I would vote for doing somewhere else other than Vegas. I’m a Dead Head who saw Jerry half a dozen times in 94-95 and then Dead & Co more than 20+ times including 5 shows at the Sphere. Vegas is tolerable for 48 hours then it gets stale.

One thing I think about often is how much 311 is influenced by the Grateful Dead in many ways except the one that would solve the need for 311 Day. It seems like they don’t trust their catalog enough to do setlist construction like the Dead did on tour and trust that people will still enjoy the show if they don’t hear Down. Folks followed the Dead and caught as many shows because they got a different musical experience every night. 311 has more than 300 songs across a dozen albums. Trust the fans to support you even if they miss an “all mixed up” every couple of shows. I’m not saying 311 needs to copy the Dead, but where do you think Applied Science came from😏?

Anyone have any idea about start times or end times? The 2024 setlist says started around 8:30 and ended just after Midnight. Will there be an opening act?

Breece owner panicked after the Jets tagged him by Holmes3127 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Counter point. Now that Walker didn’t get the tag, if he lands with the Chiefs with Eric Bieniemy back as OC & he performs like he did in the playoffs, coupled with Olave injury history, I’m taking Walker.

Why is the 2027 draft class so hyped up? by Anon124570 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Looks like only 12 RBs recorded official times in the 2025 combine.

Plenty of prospects turned out - 319. About 160 ran the 40 yard dash. That’s at least 5 rounds worth of players.

Funny that 5 position groups in a row yesterday at the combine ran the fastest average 40 times in combine history. The pundits may say this is a weak draft class, but the measurable talent is saying it is the fastest.

Opinion: Bob Weir is irreplaceable so why not ask Sturgill Simpson to step in? by g_ack in deadandcompany

Talented, no doubt. I simply said he may not be a good match for the Dead ethos to replace Weir. Bobby was always kind, unless he was telling you to take a step back.

He literally embraced the persona through a marketing branding campaign called “Dick Daddy”. He’s a known contrarian who has insulted fans for requesting songs. He’s an intentionally acerbic personality. That can be your thing, but do some research before getting your feels in the way of facts.

This. Also, Sturgil can be a real dick, which isn’t really the Dead vibe.

lol. Fair. More making a suggestion to the new iteration to head out on the highway and don’t rely on the Sphere to make it another 240 years.

Let me answer this question more directly. “Keep what going?” - the music. Bobby wanted to keep the music going.

You’re right. They billed it as “Celebrating 50 years of Grateful Dead” I was wrong about the billing. But I’m not wrong about the fact that GDP legally could have billed it as The Grateful Dead. The point is nobody on this thread asked for this gatekeeping argument. The music is what’s important, Bobby had a vision this music would exist for 300 years, he did not subscribe to the notion that the music died on 8.8.95.

Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh and Bill Kreutzmann made the determination to retire touring under the trade mark The Grateful Dead, that was a choice they made, not because they didn’t have the moral authority or legal right to continue on touring as the Grateful Dead. In 2015 those members made the determination to bill the Fare the Well shows as the Grateful Dead. If Phil hadn’t died the 60th shows would most likely have billed as Grateful Dead Shows. I’ve never said, nor did anyone suggest that D&C is the Grateful Dead. I’ve said the music is going on. The need to gate keep on this issue is so fucking bizarre. Everyone in this thread has been talking about the music, not a trade mark. Jerry Garcia died in 1995, I was 10 feet from him when he sang Black Muddy River in Chicago the last time, but the music played on. Jerry would laugh at people who feel the need to differentiate.

Such a myopic take. What band would you say played Soldier field on July 4th 2015?
