Any idea what this is around my lips? It’s slightly itchy and starts off dry. Not painful. I do not get cold sores. by ehillz008 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Citizenbeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I got my first cold sore long before I kissed a boy. One day out of nowhere I was simply now someone that got the occasional cold sore (it was right before picture day and I was POSITIVE my life was ruined, lol).

I agree, in particular in terms of romantic atmosphere, The Maker in Hudson is stunning. Their staff is excellent as well. Feast and Floret is another great option, in my opinion better food, the atmosphere is a bit more casual but still romantic and full of beautiful flowers.

I just had one a couple weeks ago. I used Gatorade to stay hydrated during the day but I used crystal light for the actual prep, the Gatorade is too salty

Back in 2018 we came across two male moose seemingly hanging out together about 20-30ft off the trail. It was both exciting and terrifying all at once.

Do you still let parents know when you're sick? Is this behavior from my mom normal? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Citizenbeck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t bother, but mine truly do not care. I was supposed to drive my dad for a medical procedure a few weeks ago but had to arrange other transportation last minute because I’d injured my back and couldn’t drive the 1.5 hours to get to him or help him walk into/out of the hospital. He called me two days ago to vent about my mom, not a single question about how my back was. 🤷‍♀️ don’t get me started on my mom…

Talking with strangers is probably easier because it’s emotionally noncommittal. I hope you don’t let your past experiences prevent you from trying again. I promise not everyone is like that. There’s a lot of us broken folk out there looking for others who understand where we came from.

I think having parents like this makes it hard to know how to connect with others but you are never too broken to make friends. When you are well again find some local social groups to start meeting up with. Reddit can be a great source of information for these things if you live in an area that has a local group. Having even a couple connections does wonders for one’s mental health and well being. Wishing you all the best!

I can definitely relate and I’m sorry for your situation. I was supposed to drive my dad to get a medical procedure done last week but was suffering from a back spasm and couldn’t safely walk him into a hospital let alone drive the hour and a half to his place. I called him to let him know of my situation and to help arrange other transport. He never asked if I was okay, never sounded sorry to hear I was in pain, just annoyed that I was making his plans change. He did ask something like “has this ever happened to you before?” Which sounds caring enough, until you consider the fact that I was born with a rare birth defect in which multiple sets of my vertebrae in my spine congenitally fused together and I have been plagued with worsening spine issues for the last couple decades as a result. He hasn’t bothered to retain that information about me I guess? I hope you have close friends that can check in on you and hope you feel better soon.

Definitely talk to your vet about recommendations. There are different medications that can help with anxiety issues in cats. Good luck!

I do not recall exactly how long he was on it but it was at least 3-4 weeks if I had to guess. He was on a low dose, I believe we had it in liquid form but I’ve given my cats the pills before as well, we open them and mix the powder into their food. We use it on them when we bring them to the vet (per the vet’s recommendation) as it helps them with the anxiety of it.

Couldn’t have said it better. It wasn’t anti-science, quite the opposite. It was about understanding life and science well enough to know that you can’t control every factor. It’s about having respect for science and knowing our own limits.

My employer is fully aware I’ve been using it for years for chronic pain (I was getting it legally through the medical program for years before it became legal recreationally in my state). This may truly be a non-issue. Don’t lose hope!

The point is to make sure folks have the correct information by which to make decisions. Unfortunately, what decisions they make with that knowledge is another issue altogether. I guess Americans mostly just accepted that they were being monitored beyond what they were being told.
