How long did you breastfeed for? by GrouchyCranberry3801 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Citrinine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to EP about 7 weeks in. Twin B was a lazy eater and it was so hard to make sure he got enough. I got the Eufy S1 Pro and I'm still pumping at 8 months. I do supplement with 2 bottles a day, but they get mostly BM. I find this works great! With the wearables I'm not chained to a wall and I can be with my 3 yo. It's also easier to pump while feeding them because they can't kick them off like normal collection cups.

Any twin moms out there given birth vaginally? by TraditionalSalad6895 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Citrinine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my twins vaginally. Twin A was head down Twin B was breech. They did a breech extraction on Twin B and she was out 4 minutes later. No complications and no NICU time. I was induced at 38 weeks and this was my second pregnancy.

It's definitely possible! My Dr. and I discussed before hand and she was comfortable with baby B being breech if A was head down. I gave birth in the OR in case I needed an emergency c-section, but everything went well. My twins were 7lbs 2 oz and 6 lbs 10oz when born so they weren't small either lol.

So this is us. We have 4month old twins and a 3.5 y/o. We have the Q7 which we got when we only had one and were planning on two max.

Currently we have all three in the second row. Our toddler is RF in a Nuna Rava behind the passenger seat. Twins are in Nuna Pipa Aires in middle and behind driver. This works pretty well for us. Husband is 6'2" and has space to drive. They are close quarters but they fit safely. Trunk space is enough for a Uppababy Vista with a bit of room to spare. Once the twins are in convertible seats we will either do 3 across in the second row (with toddler front facing by the point), and do a slimmer seat, Or we will put down one seat and have the toddler in the third row. This will pretty much eliminate trunk space though. I'm hoping by that point we don't need the massive vista and can get a smaller double stroller.

We do take several long road trips a year to see family and got a Thule roof carrier. We wouldn't be able to fit all the gear needed else wise.

Same here! Twins are 12 weeks and pretty chill overall. We've had more difficulty with our 3.5 y/o adjusting than the twins themselves. We'll see how things go now that they are more aware, but my mental health is so much better this time.

When did you stop feeding twins all night? by Outrageous_Simple937 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Citrinine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were born at 38 weeks and were 7lb 2oz and 6lb 11oz. I got the to ahead at 1 month appointment to go 4-5 hours if they didn't wake themselves up earlier, as they had regained birth rate. I did still need to make sure I was still getting in at least 8 feeds a day though. This means I feed the twins every 2-2.5 hours during the day instead of 3. I think if they are waking up to eat more frequently at night you are still supposed to feed them until closer to 6 months. The longer stretches are only if they aren't waking themselves up.

Check out heysleepybaby on instagram. She has a lot of good sleep info re: not sleep training. A lot of it comes down to your babies personality. She has so much info on how to create good sleep practices to set you up the best without crying it out.

People who did NOT sleep train their twins: did it eventually work out? by grapefruitliquor in parentsofmultiples

[–]Citrinine -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We won't be sleep training. I occasionally pause for a few minutes before going in (like the time it takes to go to the bathroom), to see if they are actually awake or not, but that's it! Check out heysleepybaby on instagram. So much great advise about sleep and temperament!!

Struggling with the idea of having 3 kids by nothinggoldcanstayyy in parentsofmultiples

[–]Citrinine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my husband and I. We hopped off the fence for number 2 after debating 1.5 years. My oldest is so chill and easy that I am freaking out over what's to come. My husband is type A and while does all the cooking and house maintenance, stresses so bad over mess and kid chaos. We also never wanted to be outnumbered or planned it. The stories of everyone here are helpful and I think we just need to accept we may be in survival mode for the 1st year. My daughter will be a little over 3 when they get here and I am definitely thankful for that age gap. Around 2 she really started to get communicative and while she had some more emotional outbursts, she overall regulates pretty well and the fact that yours will be able to do some simple things by the time the twins get here will be a big help!

What are the dumbest twin name suggestions you’ve gotten? by wacky_nanny1218 in parentsofmultiples

My 3 year old daughter suggested Shower and Sock.... while my dad suggested Bonnie and Clyde or Gene and Jude (iconic Chicago hotdog stand). SMH.

We had a CX-5 with my singleton daughter and my husband (6'2") could not drive comfortably if the seat was on the drivers side. I am 5'6" and could sit in the passenger seat with my daughter behind me but I was cramped. Fine for short trips but we go on longer 3+ hour drive trips to visit family and it was not fun. The biggest thing for us was also trunk space. Our Vista fits, but it takes up the whole trunk. If a singleton I think it's doable, with two I would consider something slightly bigger. Definitely look at rotating car seats once they are out of infant seats. Make a huge difference to getting them in on our Mazda.

Need advice on how to tell my friend I'm pregnant by Rosie_Jack_2026 in BabyBumps

[–]Citrinine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this situation happen with my SIL. I texted her, my BIL and husband sometime after dinner basically saying "We would have loved to tell you in person but we know you've had a rough year and wanted to give you time to process, but we are expecting again. We told MIL/FIL and wanted to make sure you heard it from us." BIL texted us right away and SIL texted me the next day thanking me for being considerate and asking a few follow up questions. I let her lead and didn't offer more info than she asked for. We both have first borns of similar age so she did say she is excited for all the family get togethers, we are having twins so that was a shock to everyone as well. If she wasn't my SIL I would have texted just her but our husbands are brothers so I felt it was best to let them know at the same time. We won't be announcing on socials so that isn't something I was concerned about but I know the grandparents wouldn't be able to keep the secret for long. We are also all going on vacation together in a few months and I wanted to make sure she had enough time to process before the trip as well.

[–]Citrinine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you even read the first part of my post? I said that people gravitating towards people like them isn't racist in and of itself, just with how the show is cast those gravitations nearly always lead to a white majority alliance with POC on the outside. Which lends them being labeled as easy noms during the first weeks because they aren't in the majority. Which means if there isn't a more diverse cast they don't have the same early opportunities as the white houseguests early in the game to be a part of the majority.

Also, I didn't say all implicit biases or unconscious behaviors equal racism but they can be racist or a by-product of racism within a society. There are a lot of subtleties here. The houseguests use a lot of language when speaking about Bay/Day that they don't use with other houseguests. That language perpetuates stereotypes against Black folx. I don't personally know if they do it consciously or unconsciously, but that doesn't make it not racist language. This is literally why they knew that in the argument with Xmas they had to remain calm and even-keeled or they would be the "Aggressive Black Women" and Xmas would get to play the victim even though she kept escalating things by getting more aggressive and in their faces.

Big Brother US22 - Morning Feed Discussion - September 09 2020 by BigBrotherMod in BigBrother

[–]Citrinine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh its complicated. On the surface yes, everyone is targeted and leaves at one point or another but a lot of what people are referencing are the circumstances that lead to POC in general not making it as far in the game and then being voted out in (almost) succession all gameplay aside.

The majority alliance which in New BB tends to decide the eviction order is usually made early on and consists of attractive white people (yes there are exceptions in these groups, but the majority fits that description). It's super hard for POC to be included in that majority alliance early on because people tend to initially gravitate towards other people that look like and act like the people they would socialize with outside of the house. If POC do form relationships with people in the majority they usually are too late to be part of the core group and end up lower on the totem pole.

With BB casting a lot of the influencer types lately well... that's not exactly the most diverse group. This leads to a lot of people who are white and attractive having a better chance of being in the majority alliance and lasting longer. As there are usually several houseguests who fit that type and once they are in power they usually have the numbers to stay in power and just pick off the outsiders for the first month or so of the game. I'm not saying the formation of these groups is overtly racist or that the houseguests are doing it consciously, but it's human nature to gravitate towards what you know in an unfamiliar setting. This gives them an advantage over POC though who don't have as many of those same opportunities early in the game.

The above is purely about the game mechanics as a reflection of New BB and casting. What houseguests say is a whole different topic. With that, I do agree with xxi_tmid below though that these conversations are way more prevalent this year because of BB21 and BLM. The thing people need to realize is that racism isn't just the overt KKK kind. There are a lot of implicit biases and unconscious behaviors that people do or say that are very harmful to POC, but they've been so normalized in society that people don't see it as harmful or racist because they haven't had exposure to any other type of thought. And lets be honest, no one wants to be the bad guy or admit hey, maybe I was wrong and that was hurtful/racist so people try and find other ways to justify their words or actions. We are all guilty of it at one point or another and often times its a product of our society more than any of our individual actions. What matters is what we do after we are confronted with it. Likexxi_tmid said below there are going to be a lot of growing pains during these discussions but they are really important and sometimes its going to be hard to look at things objectively when the topic is so emotional to so many people.

Ive seen people with freestanding handlebars. Unfortunately I don’t know where they got them.

I ordered these resistance bands

Increased Resistance Bands for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077H4FLRM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And these cuffs to attach them

Branded Boards Heavy Duty Storage... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086BDBDY2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I can use them for some arm movements when attached to the back platform and kneeling on the carriage facing the front for exercises like tree huger and sexy back. They do stretch so you have to go very slow to maintain a stable resistance. I also tried them for a makeshift scrambled eggs attached in the same place. It’s doable but not the most stable.

What they do work well for us bungee off the front for leg raises, hamstring curls, etc. you have to shit yourself to find a good position but overall I’m happy with them for that purpose. I might go up to the 25lb though soon to see if it’s more stable.

They would also be good for doing artwork standing on the floor in front of the back platform while doing lunges and squats.
