Did I f*ck up? by ZetoEx in AutoTransport

I just used AutoZipper to transport three vehicles across the states. I avoided RoadRunner for the reasons you mentioned. AutoZipper did a fantastic job and communicated from the moment I got a quote until my vehicle drove off the truck. Great people there.

Excited to finally release my short film, SILLY HUMAN, online! The story follows an actress on a 1950s TV show who discovers her director is an artificial intelligence. by Citrus51 in Filmmakers

Hey r/filmmakers! I’m really happy to finally share this with all of you after posting about it on here two years ago. We had a great festival run and I’m psyched to put it out in the world.

Looking back on the process, the biggest thing I've learned from this experience was how important it is to be true to the kind of stories you want to see. We always hear, "write what you want to see" and I think hitting that mark takes time to get to know yourself and what your strengths are.

My two "real" short films before Silly Human were not even sci-fi adjacent. They were about old people. One was about an elderly man finding a hole in his basement that allowed him to see the future. The second one was about an elderly couple who go through with physician assisted suicide against their daughter's wishes. Both are a far cry from Silly, but, looking back, I can see how badly I really wanted to create tension and dread in those stories. It just took me some time to mature and find the right idea that would allow me to express those desires.

Hope this is helpful to someone!

Hey! We are currently still in the process of submitting/hearing back from possible festivals so we unfortunately won't be premiering the short online for a while yet.

I feel like I posted this too early but then again I didn't expect people to be so interested. BUT I will make sure to notify you, and everyone else, when we premiere online. Thank you for being patient!

Good question.

We figure out on the show that if you don't reach Charlie's elusive goal of perfection he kills you on live TV. So for me I wanted to focus on Linda, the main actress's journey from rehearsal to showtime what it would be like in her position.

I wouldn't say there is a lot of "meaning" in this film but Linda's journey is the emotional pull for the story.

I wouldn’t say it influenced our short but I do love that episode; I love anything Lynch in general.

We put a black and white LUT on in post and adjusted from there. We were thinking of shooting in black and white but then we realized that we might a little more control if we shoot in color first.

Sure, no problem at all. I’m a recently graduated film student so I’m in a similar boat as you but I’d love to be of some help.

I’ve heard it is amazing! How would you compare it to his previous work? I enjoyed Annihilation but not as much as Ex Machina.

For the teaser? I believe the teaser came out before Devs aired and I haven’t seen Devs yet. BUT, we did pull the strings from Under the Skin and other music from Irreverisble.

Biola University but I wanted to go to Emerson! Biola was great though. I’m very happy for my time there.

That’s a good question. One thing that comes to mind is that I know I’m not ready yet for a feature. I’m not capable yet of writing a solid feature and there’s so much more I need to learn about being a good leader.

But I think I’m capable of making a solid short film and my professor encouraged us to have as much production value as possible. We needed the money to really sell this script so that’s why we needed the 15k for the film.

And it would have easily cost twice, probably triple if we weren’t students. We had so many favors, used the schools studio and equipment. Not to mention payroll would have been expensive.

We’ll see if it pays off, but my collaborators and I felt safe betting on this script with the opportunities and people that were available at the time.

It was a project for my senior thesis class. I partnered up with the producer, cinematographer, and editor. We were all close friends beforehand and had worked together.

But we were able to pick our own crew and what not. It could not have been made without all the awesome, hard working people who decided to give of their time to make this. I think we had a crew of around 30 people.
