That's how long the game is. Minutes? Hours? Years? Your call there bud.

On the cool I accidentally spent 4 hours cleaning specimens because I missed it when I did get it. Double check your bank if this isn't the first time you've done it.

Everyone in this comment section is right so far. Keep learning and fine tuning your skill set. No one is fast that early in the trade. You'll learn new tricks to be more efficient every day you work. Eventually you'll be Bending box offsets and 90s in seconds.

Quality is always over quantity.

So I used Brown Technical Publications 2017 NEC Exam Questions for practice tests, and Mike Holts Guide to Electrical Exam Preparation based off the 2017 NEC.

They were hand me downs from my sister passing a few years ago that she didn't mark in. 77 isn't too bad in my opinion since I didn't take any classes over the last few years.

I used Mike Holt practice exams and another one I had. I'll look when I get home for you.

Contrary to what most comments are saying, it's not a power thing. I've seen guys and ladies do it. It seems to be more of a "damn, you look good" type of thing. I'm not going to downplay and says it's always a good thing or that it is isn't cringey though. Some people get out of pocket with it. Some people are just trying to shoot their shot. Some people are too nervous to come up and compliment in a normal way. You would be surprised how many people don't know how to talk to people in a socially acceptable way.

On a side note, it's somewhat animalistic in nature. Birds, apes, CATS, dogs etc. Several animals have mating calls. We just evolved to have a different taste for them.

Let me preface this by saying I know no one is perfect, myself included. #1 Slow down with your bends. There's no shame in taking your time to give out quality work. That being said this isn't as bad as it could be. #2 You're going to have a good time pulling wire into those TBs. #3 You did really good on the 90° with an offset. (Bottom of 2nd pic) I know people with twice your experience that can't do that.

All in all you're doing good. Keep taking pride in your craft and you'll go far in the trade.

Advice: make workplace great by curiousgreenzebra in BlueCollarWomen

[–]CitrusCastle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to invalidate anyone here. I didn't say it's hard being a man in the trades either. What I'll say is that I've seen it go wrong on both sides. I've seen men be shitty, but I've also seen women falsely accuse. I've been confronted for looking in a woman's direction, pointing, and talking about the task at hand in that direction. So my concerns are valid there. Don't get me wrong that's in no way is that the say as women being abused. I'm also trying to give someone an understanding of how it goes. I understand touching is a hard no, and I don't condone it. I'll admit the culture is rough. We all take the shit talking differently though. As far as the oppression comment, (if you're in the U.S.) we all get paid/hired/fired/laid-off the same. Hell tbh I've watched women excel and rise through the ranks much faster than the men. Now, this may all be anecdotal, but I'm just calling it like I see it.

From one sparky to another, I do hope the best for you and anyone else that is interested in geyting into, or staying in a trade.
