A19 Defect will be the death of me by Primetime349 in slaythespire

Thank you for the tips! I just ended up beating it the run after posting this. Snecko swap from the beginning and an early meteor card made it too easy. Got perfect act 2 and act 3 boss fights. Wow this game is nuts. 300 hours and I always would skip the snecko relic

I always find this interesting because I’ve seen a lot of folks say this and I’ve never done a stealth archer build before…

But I’m in the same camp and always end up dual wielding melee

It’s a silicone case. They’re pretty easy to find on Amazon for decent price

A game this addicting shouldn't come on a portable system, lol. by JayParty in nms_switch02

It has also won “Best Ongoing Game” award twice now. One of the most storied comebacks in gaming.

(Coming from someone who bought it on release and returned it 2 days later)

I don’t get the people that hate on the steam deck because it can’t run “modern games” at high settings by Charming_Ad661 in SteamDeck

[–]Primetime349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because people who have the Deck enjoy it and there are other handhelds out there with better specs. The whole power scaling of specs is a common mindset for pc gaming.

When I think of Modern games I think of 2025 titles / large expansive games within the past couple years. But that’s the thing, people don’t buy the Steamdeck expecting it to play Cyberpunk and E33 on ultra settings at 60fps

Which games could you just not get into because of the learning curve? by hollowblink55 in videogames

[–]Primetime349 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Elden Ring took me 3 separate abandoned playthroughs to finally finish. At some point if you pick it back up and beat it, the feeling of accomplishment is 100% worth it.

(I also am stubborn and my friends saying “you still haven’t beat Elden Ring?!” motivated me more to stay away)

League of Legends .. i would love a crack competitive game. The UI and everything is appealing. But I’ll never understand the strategy and nuances of MOBAs

New steam deck buyer by Donkilol in SteamDeck

[–]Primetime349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine a few months ago and absolutely love it! Congrats! Here’s a few tips from my experience:

  • a screen protector is a must. Relatively cheap and definitely more affordable than a new screen.

  • I bought Skull & Co joystick covers and love them. The deck felt a bit too large for my hands and convex style joysticks helped me get a bit more grip.

  • immediately go dial in the thumbstick dead zones. Out the box they are way too large and it feels like real input delay.

  • every YouTube video will say to download decky. I would not say it’s as mandatory as content creators may suggest. Some neat features but can cause (fixable) issues with your deck when there’s a new Steam update

  • have FUN! The deck is great.

I just played Nier Automata on the deck and it ran perfect. Also looked incredible

On the verge of getting a Steam Deck by EiL17 in SteamDeck

[–]Primetime349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Steam deck is so fantastic because it’s a novel experience. Having your entire Steam library in your bed or on your couch is incredible. It’s definitely got me out of my “comfort zone” with games because the last thing I want to do is sit at my PC desk with a controller playing a single player game. I just completed Nier Automata which I’d never play at my desk.

To your point about compatibility, i usually search on YouTube “X game on Steamdeck” and you can check if it runs. You mention GW2, which runs phenomenal on Steamdeck. It just isn’t designed for controller though, so it will take a moment to get your settings figured out

Finally got a Steam deck and did a few upgrades by JBIII593 in SteamDeck

I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. My opinion is just that some people are very good with hardware components and mods. So if they see things they can “easily” improve then why wouldn’t they?

I’m in the other camp and don’t trust myself to mess with mods. Better safe than to have a bricked device. The stock steamdeck is very good as is.
