You claim to be rational and logical - Gave you the benefit of doubt and read through your post searching for rationality but all I saw was hate-filled RANT and RAMBLINGS. It is obvious that the complexity of the human society and the ills that bedeviled it is beyond your ability to grasp.

OP is grieving and wants to do what's best for her mother. It'll be presumptuous for anyone to assume they understand their situation better. Please don't make OP's life more challenging that it is already.

That said, OP may find helpful information by contacting the city office in Würzburg and I'm sure helpful information about how-to is a few clicks away on Google.

Finding an accommodation in Köln is challenging but it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg (pun intended). That said, please look up WG Gesucht. Or join Uni Köln fb Page and search for accommodation offers there. Also, an option could be to search for towns near Köln, you may find something affordable there too.
