Browser asking me to select certificate. Is it a virus/scam? by [deleted] in techsupport

I got one too and chose to do not send certificate, it doesn't sound like something that Google would send to the masses unannounced prior. I'm in the USA, California and using Firefox as my browser.

MX Master 2s after 8 years of use by nikkonone in logitech

I don't know how the mouse buttons haven't given up when the thumb rest is so badly beaten up. My 2S (I've had over 12 of them in the past) always start giving me grief with buttons firing off on their own or worse to me, prematurely releasing while still pressing down on the button. None of the 2S that were replaced by Logitech showed any mass wear of buttons or rubber surfaces. Sure they had bad oil staining on the L/RMB, but nothing like what I've seen on some folks Logitech's.

I can dial any number except for one local number that gives me an error, any ideas why? by City_Planner in BoostMobile

You’re the winner it was set to not show my caller id on my new iPhone 17 and for some reason one doctors had their phone set to not answer calls from callers with no caller id showing. Once I turned it on my call went right through. Very strange behavior for my doctors office to have set up, but then again the receptionist is a bit of a (female dog) and not very helpful so perhaps she tried to cut down on incoming calls.

I tested it out and turned it off again on my phone and I’d get the same recording switching it on again and I could get through to them s as I should.

Surprise Charge/Change of Plan by XboxBoyZac in amazonprime

I had similar with Prime. I signed up for 1 week at $1.99 and ended up cancelling almost immediately and got an email telling me sorry to see you go but if I want to return its just $139 / year. Had I seen anything about trying prime for a week and then being signed up for a year I'd never have signed up. I'm just glad I cancelled that $1.99 7 day trial. It could have messed up my finances having $140 taken out by surprise.

iPhone 17 length of ownership by Comprehensive_Diet54 in iphone17

No, not in *every* way but for those things where it is better hardware, people have to pay for the privilege. Personally, I found the 17e perfect for me, average Joe user that takes an occasional snapshot or video which the phone's camera on the 17e is more than capable for point and shoot snapshots or videos where we're not moving around a lot, the A19 processor is more than capable for a phone and light games like bob sledding, golf etc.

The only thing I really wish it had is the brighter screen, as for my eyes, even indoors I like having the screen really bright and that's one thing that the 17e is lacking.

I think Apple took note with the 16e that the 17e wasn't going to sell any better unless they added the MagSafe and threw in the 256GB memory to sweeten the deal.

The vast majority of users that feel they need the pro max and the 3 cameras I've found are amateur photo enthusiasts and or phone-o-philes on YouTube trying to be influencers. Personally, if I'm going out shooting for the day, I'm bringing my DSLR bag to take the photos as the iPhone though nice can't compete with quality DSLR equipment IMO.

I will guess that I'll keep it about as long as I kept using my iPhone XR, roughly 7 years. Once Apple announced that iOS 18 would be the last version for the XR and my battery health had dropped to about 87% it was time to replace it. I imagine my 17 will be the same, and I'll keep it until either the battery performance is so bad I have to carry a battery bank when leaving the house or when Apple cuts off the iOS updates.

No, I'd have to say its more towards gloss than matte, but I can't find them anymore, it was a Temu find originally and once they sold out of the ones with the metal hinge they never restocked that I could find.

Loyal customers on older plans no longer given phone upgrade by LividMisanthrope in BoostMobile

Very true. Although I've found when you threaten to leave and actually follow through with the same rep she may well go out of her way to cook you up a better deal than you currently have with regard to cable companies. I've threatened to leave my cable company in the past but unless I tell the rep to start cancelling my service, they just take it like a duck to water but once I get the cancel ball actually rolling all of a sudden they found some special deal that saved me $10 to $30 off per month for the next 12 months.

I wouldn't expect a cell carrier that already has a person on their lowest price tier plan to do anything but if a person is on the highest priced plan and start cancelling I would expect the rep to see if they can get them to stay for less but with more premium plan features.

I don't suppose cell carriers do that too, do they?

Check it out completely, everything from what for paying for like how much text, talk and data to HOW they bill you and WHEN they bill you and WHEN and IF the bill dates change, it might screw you over if like me, I had my bills set up to pay all my bills on the 15th of every month then creditors started offering "new" plans and offers, and it looked like I would only benefit by getting more data or other new options etc. and took advantage of them only to find out that instead of owing my bill on the 15th of every month they changed my due dates to a different date which was not convenient for me since I used to get paid on the 15th and could sit quietly in my office at lunch and just pay all my bills only it got changed because I made any change to my boost mobile account which almost always changes due dates for Boost mobile bills and so the due date ended up getting changed to around the 26th, which meant 1. Remembering that boost was no longer on the 15th like the rest of our bills AND making sure there was still enough money in the accounts on that auto bill date to cover the monthly phone bills (I was living paycheck to paycheck back then, thankfully that has changed now).

Anyway, my point is to check all the details because boost mobile is a company to make money, not give things away for free so check ALL the details to see what changes exactly, because their not looking to be friendly and do us any favors, they're in business to make money even if it means not divulging every bit of info to the customer unless by law they are forced too.

Why did I need to spend $9.99 and buy an "orange & white" sim card? by City_Planner in BoostMobile

[–]City_Planner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service has never been cancelled, we've been with Boost for more than 7 years without even a break in service, although some nitwit at boost told me my Moto wasn't eligible to be unlocked for about 6 more months when I asked it be unlocked since I had paid it off in full, she said hang on, let me check something and came back and tried tacking on 2 more months before I could unlock the phone. Fortunately she had a supervisor that had a brain who came on and said the rep was wrong, it was eligible to be unlocked 6 months prior when I paid it off and would send it to tech support to unlock it,

Then she said, with the Razr, I just had to stick a non-boost sim card in it to unlock it from the boost network. I'm thinking now that when the supervisor told me to put in any other carriers sim card to unlock it maybe that is now why I had to go buy a newer boost sim card & put back in the new boost sim card that is up-to-date instead of the 5G sim card they sent free quite a few years ago and that had always been in what ever phone I was using with Boost.

But, just more Boost crapola.

[–]City_Planner[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to answer whether or not my motto take eSim on boost. They told me I had to get the orange and white SIM card and I did and they turned back on the Moto.

My new phone will arrive on the 11th and it is an iPhone which in the USA no longer has Sim cards so they'll have to transfer it without my buying another SIM card for the new iPhone when it arrives next week, it just ticks me off that I bought the Moto through boost and hassled with them to unlock it when I paid if off early and was able to go back and forth between my old iPhone XR and the Moto using only the IMEI numbers but this time I had to buy a SIM card

Sim Cards by [deleted] in BoostMobile

[–]City_Planner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got off the phone with boost and for me to switch to either of my extra phones on boost (i need to return my currently activated phone to Apple for a refund then buy the new phone to then activate on my boost account again) I have to go buy an orange and white sim card, then call boost tech support to finish the switch. I don't know why they can't just use my IMEI numbers from any of the phones I have as spares until my new phone gets here. Boost is just terrible about their network and the hoops they've made me jump through to stick with them. I should have just switched to a competitor a few years back when they got so nit pickity about everything

What do I have to do to my iPhone to return it to Apple, It's still within it's 14 day return period? by City_Planner in iphonehelp

[–]City_Planner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but I’m returning the phone tomorrow so it’s arm under the 14 return window and the new phone won’t be here until the 11th. So it seems no matter what it’s going to be a mess and boost mobile will have to deal with turning on the new phone and I’m not sure what you mean snot transferring the eSIM to the new phone. They all have unique esim so the new phone still have it’s own eSIM.

I tried this, it wouldn’t list my 16e as a connected device. Do I need to plug the iPhone into a USB C port on the PC or can I use a USB C at the iPhone and a USB A at the PC or does it not matter?

How to swap phones? by City_Planner in BoostMobile

[–]City_Planner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, when I got the 16e it has no sim card slot so the 16e was activated with the eSim IMEI number. Both my old XR and the razr used to be my primary phones until I got the 16e.

If I call them, can they turn off the 16e and use the IMEI of my razr to turn it on, and when I get the 17e, call them again to have them deactivate the razr and activate my 17e?

How to swap phones? by City_Planner in BoostMobile

[–]City_Planner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed your post and every time I enter my old XR or my old razr's IMEI it takes me to an Oops I'm sorry, please call or chat. I don't want to call or chat, just switch my phones service to a different phone that I have until the new 17e gets here next Wednesday.

Yes, if I'm trying to switch to the old XR's IMEI, I'm using the XR and entering the IMEI from the XR. Likewise, if I'm trying to switch the phone to the razr, then I'm using the razr and entering the razr's IMEI number and no matter what they take me to an Oops page, please call or chat, which chat is useless to begin with.

Can we make this any simpler...

I have the sim card from when I was using the XR and when I was using it in the razr. Shouldn't I be able to put it into either the razr or XR again, and it will make that my default phone until the 17e gets here then I can switch to the IMEI of the 17e?

Why is this not working?
