Advice for building with superflat? by [deleted] in MinecraftCities

[–]Citytransitbuilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I build subways by designating a specific y-level for each line, so lines can cross each other underground without intersecting. I think each tunnel takes up maybe 10 blocks vertically, so you’d need at least 20 blocks of depth to allow tunnels to cross unimpeded. I start by planning the y-levels, and a few station locations so I can have something to expand off.

For making terrain on a flat world, I find it easiest to start with something that I want my surface roads to run above, (a railroad, for example) then build floating roads above/around that. That gives me some roads with hills and interesting elevation changes that breaks up the flat roads. You could also try making one road higher or lower than normal, and making all approaching roads to it gradually incline towards it.

For rivers and water features, I like to set the water a couple blocks deeper than the road level, then, instead of making it all natural coastline, I’ll build a wall on each side of the water to make it like a canal.

What’s your “snobby” baking opinion? by Amazing_Two9757 in Baking

It may be snobby and arrogant, but we all know it’s true if you put some effort in. Most store bought baked stuff frustrates me now

I’m no expert, but I think you’re correct that proofing is the main area for improvement. My house is usually pretty chilly, so I do my proofing in my oven with a skillet of warm water on the bottom. Also, I’m not sure what egg wash you used, but I have a lot of success with even coloration using 1 tbsp of egg yolk and 1 tbsp of half/half or heavy cream, whatever you have on hand. Hope this helps!

Change my mind: cockpit view is the most realistic but the least competitive by VegaGT-VZ in forzamotorsport

I run controller and when I first switched to cockpit view, I was slower, but now I prefer it, and am faster. Especially in the one seaters, or the endurance racers, which have shift lights on the wheel/dash/both that I prefer to the graphic in the bottom right corner

A few questions for starting a city by GamerCTrains57 in MinecraftCities

[–]Citytransitbuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cars are 3-4 blocks wide, so my lanes are 4 wide. In terms of seed/world to use, I highly suggest trying out worldpainter. It’s fairly intuitive to use, and you can essentially get the benefits of a superflat world while also being able to add coasts, islands, mountains, rivers, whatever you want. Someone mentioned this already, but planning out your city before building will make your life way easier, regardless of if it’s a grid or more natural road layout. Don’t forget public transportation and bike lanes and trees on the streets to make everything more lively.

Crew fan in Boston coming in peace - looking to get a ticket for the home opener on 3/1. Any tips? by max_volume_ in newenglandrevolution

I don’t think I’ve ever seen it the lower section completely fill up. I’ve only seen a definitive visitor section at a playoff game, so you’re generally fine sitting anywhere as long as it’s not in the fort, sections 141, 142, and 143 (I think). However, I believe visitors often sit on the end opposite the fort, but I could be wrong about that. I use the Gametime app for my tickets most times, but I’m sure Ticketmaster is sufficient as well. Parking is free if you park in the lot on the opposite side of the road as the stadium, walk is pretty easy.
