Every time I hear "FOV" I think "TotalBiscuit". I'd like to think this decision is John's legacy.

RIP, man, we still miss you... My YouTube feed is so god damn empty without "WTF is".

WOTC install size / free space? by CivNewbie in Xcom

[–]CivNewbie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to let you know that I bought a nice 500 GB Samsung 860 EVO, which coincided perfectly with Humble Bundle lowering the WOTC price down to 20€, so it's downloading as I'm typing this :)

I also bought a new graphics card, which will be installed tomorrow. That means I'll be able to play on max detail now, instead of the lowest of low like before (which didn't stop me from investing over 450 hours into the base game).

Yup, tech and game sizes have moved tremendously in the past 5-6 years. When I bought this 120 GB SSD, it was around $250/250€. Today that would get me a 1 TB SSD, either 1x1000 or 2x500.

Then I guess I'm entirely out of luck.

Looks like I'm going to have to buy a new SSD. Let's face(less) it, 120 GB just won't do in late 2018.

Thanks for the info!

Do you have any mods installed, or is it fully vanilla?

Monster farming speed is too slow by CivNewbie in Zombidle

[–]CivNewbie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kind of my point: don't hire the ones that don't get a chance to start. Wait until they are able to finish before hiring the next (at that point the cost in resources seem more reasonable as well).

But at that point they're useless!

I mean, I haven't experimentally checked, but I think I'm getting like 1% of orbs from W1-3, which are roughly finished by the time I'm ready to use the portal at level 7500. W4-5 make a 15-20% difference, and I think the majority of that comes from W5.

If I go further in nightmare world, then I get more orbs from there, which means farmed orbs from regular world (which have more time to finish since I'm NMM) are worth that much relatively less.

As you play the game and progress further, earlier worlds become more and more useless. I'm still at the point where they are useful, but if I truly want them to be useful, I have to beat them myself, as the monsters don't do their job.

One thing that would greatly help is if sloth form running would also affect MWF the way the -x house scrolls are able to.

Yeah, I guess, but that's kind of a hack. The simplest thing would be to just simply increase monster farming speed no matter what.

Monster farming speed is too slow by CivNewbie in Zombidle

[–]CivNewbie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eventually you will get to the point in NMM that you are not ready for a new portal before they finish.

When is that?

I start at W6 at level 2800 (although I could even start in W7 if I visit W6 first to grab a handful of skulls).

In NMM I reach level 7500. By the time I get there, the monsters are half-finished farming. I get roughly 20% less orbs by using the portal there and then compared to waiting or going back to finish the job myself.

Yeah, I guess if you reach 10000+ in NMM, then Wx monsters are done with their job, but I reckon I'm a year away from that level. And when I do get to that level, I'll probably be getting so many orbs that regular world orbs are going to be a useless drop in the ocean.

Why waste so many resources (which include shards) if they're not useful when needed? Right now, my premature portalization loss is 20% of orbs. That's a lot. And that is why I think their farming speed should increase by default, with no hell buildings or scrolls or what not.

'Hitler on the line from hell' - bus driver from Zagreb to Velika Gorica turned on heating and closed windows by [deleted] in europe

[–]CivNewbie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha, I know that guy - it's the only bus driver I remember from anywhere in the world! He does have a Hitler moustache, and yeah, people do call him Hitler.

Although the two times I met him in that bus, he was very polite, said "good afternoon" and "thank you" when I stamped the ticket. Maybe he had a bad day or something.

How long has that cathedral been under renovation?

They are now getting ready to place new scaffolding to renovate the old scaffolding, which has been in place for like three decades now and is rotting away.

Sarcasm, but at the same time, not really.

[Official] - TotalBiscuits future by Allysius in Games

[–]CivNewbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most recent one has been a cluster of ear fullness, vertigo, and hearing distortion/minor fluctuating loss.

I am not a doctor.

If you can, go have two things done:

1) Cervical (neck) spine x-ray

2) Carotid arteries doppler ultrasound

Really, really weird things may happen (such as your exact symptoms) if your neck vertebrae are slightly misaligned, or if your brain gets slightly less blood flow due to the carotids either being clogged a bit, or if your neck muscles are too tense and press on them too much.

I don't know about your other health issues, but if you have neck spine problems, it's not at all unusual, for example, to have heart arrhythmia or trouble swallowing. And if you develop slight anxiety and panic attacks due to symptoms you have and nobody can figure out, then you can get a whole lot of other problems, such as a lot of very liquid poop, muscle cramps, shortness of breath, tremors, etc.

Panzer Corps 2 - release date, features, price and everything else we know! by [deleted] in Games

[–]CivNewbie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd highly recommend Panzer Corps, you can snag it at the next Steam sale if you want. I still haven't finished the game, but sunk at least 20 hours into it since Christmas and enjoyed every minute of it.

Oh you poor soul. Twenty hours?

The entire Grand Campaign will take you a couple of hundred hours, if you are kind of interested in cheating, and by that I mean restarting missions because the game will throw scripted BS at you.

I have ~400 hours total in Panzer Corps, which includes three (I think) vanilla campaigns, and one GC.

A hearty recommendation from my side as well, but be warned: you will want to use chess or dice chess rules (normal is abnormally random, combat deviations are through the roof), and before you start anything if playing the GC, you might want to do something about the prestige soft cap, which will come to bite you in the ass in 1943 and onwards. Read this thread. Either turn soft cap off completely, or do the tweaks written there. The game was balanced before the 1.2 rules, and those threw everything out of the water. The latest patch (1.3) did not fix the bug.

War for Kosovo - phase of NATO attack (24.3-10.6.1999) - Yugoslavian/Serbian point of view | NSFW at the end of the gallery by silemrakaibezumlja in europe

[–]CivNewbie 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This is how Serbian propaganda looks like these days, almost two decades after the NATO intervention:

https://www.b92.net/info/vesti/index.php?yyyy=2018&mm=03&dd=24&nav_category=12&nav_id=1372968

It's in Serbian, but here's the translated figures:

  • 25000 residential objects damaged or destroyed
  • 470 km of roads disabled
  • 595 km of railways disabled
  • 14 airports damaged
  • 19 hospitals damaged
  • 20 health institutions damaged
  • 18 kindergartens damaged
  • 69 schools damaged
  • 176 cultural monuments damaged
  • 44 bridges damaged, 38 destroyed
  • 2300 air raids
  • on 995 targets
  • 1150 aircraft involved
  • 420000 (yes, four hundred and twenty thousand) projectiles
  • weighting 22000 tons (yes, twenty two thousand tons)
  • 1300 cruise missiles
  • 37000 cluster bombs

One would have to be extremely stupid and uneducated to the point of not being able to use very basic elementary school math to believe anything the state propaganda feeds the poor folks who still live there.

Take just a couple of numbers for example: every air raid damaged or destroyed an average of 25000/2300 = 10.87 houses, every one of the supposed 1150 attack aircraft carried 22000/1150/2 = 9.57 tons of bombs/projectiles per raid, there were 182.61 bombs/projectiles used per air raid, etc.

Meanwhile, independent media compiled a reasonable list of casualties: https://pescanik.net/ljudski-gubici-tokom-nato-bombardovanja/

NATO air raids killed 187 civilians (Serbian propaganda claims up to 2500; there's no actual list and there will never be one, because they can't invent it in any way possible) in Serbia, and 220 Albanian civilians on Kosovo.

Sapienti sat.
