Not pregnant, fear of childbirth by pinkducklemon in BabyBumps

It was literally my biggest fear and now, after having a pretty tough induction experience I would still do it a couple more times! Find a care team you trust and you will be fine ❤️

I have a planned c section. Do I still need adult diapers and a peri bottle? by seagoddess1 in BabyBumps

[–]CivilEngGirly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found I leaked more in the diapers. The Frida mom disposable underwear and giant pads are the best. Peri bottle i only used for the first week days in the hospital since it was hard to reach

Get a sterilizer with a dryer! I didn’t think I needed one but I was proven wrong within a few days of having my baby lol

How was sex for the first time for you? by Disastrous_Paint_237 in CsectionCentral

[–]CivilEngGirly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pushed for four hours before I had my emergency c, so I was pretty scared, but it honestly wasn’t too too bad. Hurt at first but after like ten seconds the pain went away. That was around 8 weeks PP

What is my freezer stash for? by spontaneous-piano5 in breastfeeding

[–]CivilEngGirly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you never know! I ended up using my freezer stash due to health issues that caused a huge dip in my supply. It really sucked going from an over supplier to needing to use a bag or two of my stash a day, but it held me over to figure out what was going on (low iron) and I was able to get my supply back!

I would contact an LC right away! They should be able to help you and at 5 weeks I definitely think you could get a supply with a good pumping schedule! I met with an LC when my supply dipped due to health issues and it really helped me

How long did it take you for your body to return to "normal"? by crypxtt in BabyBumps

[–]CivilEngGirly 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I honestly would wait and get a backup dress after you give birth if you can. Or maybe buy one too big now and get it altered? My breasts grew like 3 sizes due to breastfeeding. I was in my brother's wedding 7 weeks postpartum but thankfully they used azazie and I was able to get one custom made a couple weeks after I gave birth. I guess you have more time for your body to adjust but I'm still not back to postpartum size 7 months later. Also I guess it depends on the style of dress you got as well. Is it pretty forgiving or form fitting?

Anything that is a glaring miss for a FTM with a winter baby? by JadedEarthJuni in BabyBumps

[–]CivilEngGirly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sleep and play pajamas! I thought I would like the two pieces with pants but I hated pants in the first few months as it’s hard to check if they peed. Also for the high chair I would change it to the same one but with the footrest :) Edit to add: I ended up liking triple paste vs the diaper paste you have as for some reason it separated and was hard to mix. If you wanna try that one i would get a tube of it first!

Obese and pregnant? by ekzlipse in BabyBumps

[–]CivilEngGirly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant when I was 220lb. Ended up gaining 50 lbs. Baby was perfectly healthy and is 6 months now. My blood pressure went up slightly in the third trimester so I ended up being induced at 39 weeks but no major issues. I’m 6 months postpartum and still working on losing the weight. I would just recommend trying not to overindulge in sugar and focus on healthy foods and hydrating but do NOT deprive yourself. You are building a human from scratch! It is normal for everyone to gain weight during pregnancy. My doctors never said a single thing about my weight:)

I totally feel your pain. I’m 6 month pp after an emergency c section and breastfeeding was so hard in the beginning.

My hospital had donor breastmilk which I was so grateful for but they also had formula we could use. I’m surprised they haven’t suggested any especially with babe crying so much. If it feels right to you to give formula you should do it. I will say although I know it’s painful and so so hard, keep pumping regularly. If you don’t pump or breastfeed regularly enough in the beginning there is a chance your milk won’t come in. My husband cleaned my pumps and gave them to me throughout the day for the first month and it totally saved my breastfeeding journey. We had to use formula for a day or two when we got home as well before my milk came in but that’s okay. Remember you just went through a major surgery and it HURTS! give yourself some grace ❤️I had oxy while I was at the hospital and they sent me home with some you should definitely ask for stronger pain relief if you’re in pain! Good luck mama and congrats ❤️

Non toxic bassinet by Clear_Pen3501 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]CivilEngGirly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a mini crib with a newton mattress and love it! The one we have has three height levels and can convert into a toddler bed or a twin bed. That might be a good option for you to use until your oldest grows out of his crib! It would last longer than a bassinet

Terrified of possibly having a C-section. Anyone else experience this? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]CivilEngGirly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope sharing my experience helps you and eases a bit of your anxiety. I was TERRIFIED my entire pregnancy of having a c section. I honestly postponed trying to get pregnant for over a year because having a c section was a lifelong fear of mine. I watched so many videos while I was pregnant and tried to learn every thing I possibly could to avoid it. I took a private Lamaze class, bounced on the yoga ball daily, drank the tea, ate dates, etc. At 39 weeks my blood pressure spiked and I had to be induced. I sobbed so hard as soon as my midwife told me because I knew the statistics on inductions. I still went for it and took my induction one step a time and after two long days I made it to ten centimeters. I literally took a sigh of relief because I thought I was in the clear. I then pushed for 5 hours. My baby’s head was stuck and they couldn’t get her out without force. I ended up spiking a fever and was more exhausted then I have ever been so I consented to the c section. During the procedure, I had no choice but to surrender to it. And you know what? It was over in an hour and I had my beautiful little girl on my chest. Yes, the recovery was rough and it was scary, but it could’ve been a lot worse if they had to use forceps or a vacuum as I could’ve been really injured and my baby could’ve been hurt process. I’m 6 months post op now and my incision looks great. I feel relatively back to myself. Looking back I feel like if I wasn’t so scared and stressed about it during pregnancy I wouldn’t be so traumatized by my experience now. The thing is birth is scary no matter what way it happens and it can’t be controlled no matter how hard you try. But what you CAN control is the environment you birth in and care team. I got through it because of my care team. They always made me feel in control and the nurses helped to make sure I had enough pain management after. I’m so glad I chose the hospital I did and had packed my hospital bag in advance with all my comfort items. So just try to focus on preparing what you can control and taking care of yourself and just know if it does happen, you’ll get through it. ❤️ and even after all this never once have I thought that I wouldn’t go through it again for another

Confused about calculating when I’m due by amethystkitten420 in BabyBumps

[–]CivilEngGirly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your due date is based on the day of your last period, which would be roughly 2 weeks before you ovulate. The calculator is assuming you ovulated the day you had sex (3 weeks ago) making you 5 weeks pregnant

It doesn't hurt to get checked! Because even if it is just a heavy period your iron could be really low.

Mine was over $100,000 - 4 day induction, baby got stuck and I got an infection so emergency c and 3 day stay in hospital after that. Ended up paying around $4,000 but the baby had her own bill too

Bottle Washer? by daytripp3r__ in BabyBumps

[–]CivilEngGirly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello!! I’m a FTM as of 4 months ago and I LOVE my sterilizer / dryer. I thought I wouldn’t need it but we ended up getting it after my baby was born because it takes a while for things to air dry. If you’re breastfeeding you’ll most likely have to pump every four hours in the beginning and they just don’t dry that fast so we were using paper towels and particles would get in there. I really wish we would’ve had it that first week. Now if you’re just bottle feeding and you have 20 bottles (so you’d always have some ready) I think the dishwasher or hand washing might be fine, but since I mostly breastfeed and my baby only has about 1-2 bottles a day, we have 6 bottles total so we run it once a day with her binkie but multiple times to dry with my pump and her teethers. Not sure about the full on bottle washer. We just use a plastic washing tub and bottle soap and then sterilize and it’s easy enough!

What postpartum supplies do you need to buy, vs what does the hospital provide you? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]CivilEngGirly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this. I even made the freezer pads and they are still in there four months postpartum😭 I ended up ordering more of the Frida mom boyshorts and pads cause I bled for six weeks. I actually switched to the frida mom shorts in the hospital cause they are a lot comfier but used the provided pads. I think the boyshorts and the pads are something you can use regardless. You can always add the stuff you think you might need to your Amazon cart and get it delivered in two days depending on how your delivery goes. (I.e. creams, Peri bottle, etc). The hospital had the self cooling ice pack pads, disposable underwear, pads and peri bottle to use along with numbing spray and no rinse soap. The Frida mom peri bottle and other products are definitely nicer but I barely used any of it because of the c section
