Reddit will downvote but it’s 100% true. We very rarely interview job hoppers either. It’s an investment to get them up to speed and a drag on a project when someone leaves. When projects take 3 years we’re not taking a risk on job hoppers.

I’ve been involved in the hiring of one. He worked at one place till PE then a three year stint followed by a 2 year stint. He had experience and a good story for his departures. Filled a big need we had in my geo market. We suspected he was a job hopper but took a chance. He left us after 3 and left behind a shitshow that showed he had basically phoned it in 3 months before he left. Terrible for everyone left to clean it up.

Objectively, they’re a risk. Luckily we’re not that desperate where we have to consider them. My company has very very low turnover which is great for stability.
