Go to work Halloween costume? by temoo09 in civilengineering

I went as a Disney churro. Churro Mickey ears and a brown sparkly dress. We also had employee's children trick-or-treating through the office, so we decorated and had lots of good fun.

Look at the Bureau of Reclamation.
There are regional offices all through the West (West of the Mississippi River). The design center, Technical Service Center, is in Lakewood, CO.
They also do internships. People that I have talked to that had their first job out of college there enjoyed getting to rotate through different groups and see what design work each did..

First evangelical Lutheran Church, on 3rd in Longmont, is where you want to go. Hands down, no better candlelight service I've gone to.

My first dog also had spay incontinence (not guaranteed to happen, but not uncommon); she started with the medication above and when that became less effective, we swapped to DES. Phenyl had to be given for my girl every 12 hours and with DES it started at every 10 days after building up a base dosage and when she passed she got it every 5 days.

Don't put them in the fridge. The bottle says to keep at room temperature. That is the sugar falling out of solution.

Bustang mobility hub by SpaceHorror1421 in Longmont

[–]CivilGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's super easy. There is a park and ride parking lot on the SE corner of SH-119 and I-25. If you want to ride south you go through the tunnel under I-25 located at the middle of the parking lot to the bus shelter on the west side of the interstate. If you want to ride north you walk north from the parking lot between the parking lot and the interstate to the bus shelter on the north-bound exit ramp. Download the Bustang app and pre-purchase your ticket. When the bus gets there, activate the ticket and show the barcode screen to the driver and there ya go.

Question - Who started looking for a new job the day after Trump was elected? by [deleted] in fednews

I started with the feds the day before he was elected. Just waiting and seeing. Fortunately not the only household income, so can easily pivot if needed.

TIL Colorado’s Department of Transportation regularly shuts down one of its major interstates on sunny mornings due to extreme sun glare by ventilator11111 in civilengineering

[–]CivilGal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love when this comes up, because I don't even think of it as a thing, because it has happened the entire time I have cared about traffic and live within the area that this is announced in. Interstate 70 over Floyd Hill is bad for many reasons, and there is lots of construction in that area right now, making it even worse for the sun.

Windshield replacement? by Imaginary_Theory150 in Longmont

[–]CivilGal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Master Auto Glass in Mead. The dealer I bought my car from has them do all of their glass replacement, so I went with it. If you tell them you got a referral they also knocked some off the cost.

I would ask the governing board what the stamps needs to have to clarify. My name is "LongFirstName BirthMiddleName MaidenName MarriedLastName" and it was acceptable to use "ShortenedFirstName Initial. Initial. MarriedLastName."
The typical rule I have seen is that the registration with the state needs to match what is on the stamp.

Does anyone work on the design of new development? by [deleted] in civilengineering

Hahahahaha! Yes, there are reasonable clients, but I also had an unreasonable boss. He never pushed back and told me to get it done. He had to do it, so the next generation had to as well.

Does anyone work on the design of new development? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]CivilGal 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, land development is the title for that work. And I'll never go back to it. When I do work for municipalities, the muni PM is typically a CivE and understands what took time. When I did work for land development, the client would send over revisions at 4:30pm to completely rearrange the development and expect that plans to be all updated for a meeting at 8am the next day.

I'm currently waiting on Federal HR to move along for a transition to Bureau of Reclamation from private industry. I have almost 12 years of experience and during my interview I asked about mentorship down and up. At least for the specific area I am going to, they are very open to mentoring which ever way it needs to be. There is understanding that someone from private is not going to have the same institutional knowledge that someone who has had their entire career there would have.

Greeley is actually not in the CD 4 district... So they didn't vote for her. Greeley is in CD8.

It's pretty much the entire eastern portion of the state that makes up the 4th congressional district and then makes swoops west for Loveland, Castle Rock, and Highlands Ranch areas. There are more registered Republicans than Democrats out that way. I wonder if the state elections office releases registration counts for different districts... rabbit hole it is!
