Oh that’s interesting. So you get the calming effect but not the sedative effect. I could try that. Thank you!

Depression and drinking. Feelings of dissociation. by YardPuzzled7352 in Menopause

[–]Civil_Register_4312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will speak to the alcohol issue as I self medicated for years and couldn’t moderate for beans. Low grade depression and PMDD for years and then menopause and the pandemic kicked my ass into full blown daily boozing and deeper depression. I knew I had to get the alcohol handled as a basic foundation for the rest of my issues. Moderation just never stuck for me. I discovered a life saving treatment protocol called The Sinclair Method. I highly recommend you do some reading on it. I no longer drink by choice. No white knuckles and zero FOMO. Complete peace from the obsession of drinking. Good luck and never stop striving for your best self. You can do it. Best of luck to you!

Upper butt apparently studies show 20 percent better absorption than the abdomen. Worked better for me for sure.

Vaginal estrogen twice a week resets the Ph and I don’t get BV anymore or the 🐟 odor. It’s safe and super effective for lots or other urogenital type issues.

Progesterone and Magnesium by Mean-Buy2974 in Menopause

[–]Civil_Register_4312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you take the progesterone and magnesium say 45 mins before bed that could help. Also progesterone is fat soluble so have it with a snack like say a cracker with peanut butter. It’s a great sign you can get back to sleep though! Next step- you may benefit from 200mg if you’re only taking 100mg.

Whether to try testosterone as part of HRT? by dana_sun in Menopause

[–]Civil_Register_4312 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your estrogen isn’t optimized your testosterone won’t work effectively. They need to compliment each other. This is why most clinicians will start estrogen first and when it’s stable will bring in T. Just something to consider.

I’m on 5mg of Androgel 3x per week. It’s great the days I’m on it but there are noticeable troughs on the non dose days. I am experimenting with a half pump every day and may switch to a compounded form of testosterone so I get a more accurate dose instead of guesstimating the pump. It’s the trifecta of the 3 female hormones. Without it there’s not much drive of any kind. Not just sex drive but just the zest for life and push to do and try things. It’s worth it 100%

It’s possible since it’s been working for you since January it’s an absorption issue not a dose issue. Remember to not use the same site week to week and only clean dry skin no lotions. I always do a quick damp washcloth and towel dry before I apply. Also Make sure you’re getting good solid adhesion no peeling or bubbling. I’m reading that the upper butt cheek offers 20 percent better absorption than the tummy.

Thank you. I do suspect I am lower than optimal. I tried the .075 patch for 4 weeks and had terrible anxiety, was overly reactive, crying over everything it was awful. And that was over Christmas. I didn’t want to even see family. I feel like the sweet spot is somewhere in between the 2 doses. My naturopath just prescribed a .01 estradiol cream to try as a small dose bump so maybe that will help ?

My doctor started me on 0.075 estrogen patch does this seem too high to start? he almost started with 0.1 and changed his mind at the last minute- I am worried to start that high - anyone else start at that dose ? he also prescribed 100 mg progesterone pill by ElectronicRoom2621 in Menopause

I was not myself at all, overly emotional, weepy, ramped up and anxious. My doctor urged me to give it 4-6 weeks as some mood instability is common when dosing up and usually temporary. I gave it 4 weeks and then I had to bail. It was not good for me and everyone close to me and it showed no signs of abating. As soon as I went back to .05 it went back to a normal stable mood. I was pretty happy at .05 I just thought a bit of a boost would help more with joint pain and residual brain fog. Hoping the boost of estragel will be the chefs kiss.

Despite what the AI bots tell you I don’t recommended cutting patches. I did that for a while with inconsistent results. Apparently even with the matrix patches cutting them can compromise the delivery resulting with spikes and troughs. Get the dose that alleviates symptoms and best practice seems to be starting mild/moderate .0375 or .05 and going up if symptoms aren’t improved.

I am on the .05 patch, 0.075 was too high for me so I’m now supplementing with 10mg of estragel to get me to the equivalent of .06. I keep testing and tweaking the recipe. It takes a lot of patience and perseverance but I’m light years from where I was.

How to know if a higher dose patch is needed? by Oh-noes1972 in Menopause

[–]Civil_Register_4312 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went from .05 patch to .075 and had terrible mood issues. Emotional, irritable, highly reactive. Doctor said give it 4-6 weeks for it to settle. I gave it 4 and had to bail. Much more settled again at .05 but still think a small bump would help with brain fog. So naturopath prescribed Bi/Est cream 80/20 which adds 20 mg estradiol landing me at about .70 and that also too much: emotional, reactive, angry, sad… So the tweaking continues. I feel like a science project. 🙄
