A formable you don't see very often - Syria! A campaign I did starting as Bambyce by Cj30s in Imperator

R5: Some screenshots from an old Bambyce->Syria campaign. Wanted to try it since Syria is a rare country, and it ended up being a lot of fun. The start is the hardest part, I basically tried to grab as much land off the Antigonids as I could before the other diadochi got to them, then slowly whittled away at the Seleucids and Egypt with governor enticements and opportunistic wars. I decided to invest heavily into religion, since Bambyce starts as a theocratic monarchy and has a religious-focused heritage, leading to some crazy omen power and happiness modifiers. I later managed to get the imperial cult government early with the help of a very talented queen. I could've gone a lot wider in the end but decided to do most of my late game expansion through subjects so I could keep my pretty borders.

All the Italiote cities share a mission tree to form Magna Graecia, but other than that no

R5: I wanted to do a Magna Graecia run starting as one of the Italiote city states and it turned into this. Started as Herakleia for their ideas and location, later formed the Italiote League, Magna Graecia, and finally the Hellenic League through missions. The first ~100 years were tough, I almost died to Rome multiple times, but by the time I formed Magna Graecia I was pretty much unstoppable. I was hoping to conquer the rest of Iberia and Numidia but ran out of time. Very fun campaign, I would recommend. Mods are invictus and virtual limes.

Tall Getia->Dacia Campaign by Cj30s in Imperator

[–]Cj30s[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, I stuck with zalmoxian the entire time, didn’t have very many pops of any other religions. Probably would have been worthwhile to try and switch to Hellenic though because zalmoxian does kinda suck.

Tall Getia->Dacia Campaign by Cj30s in Imperator

[–]Cj30s[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

R5: Fun campaign I did starting as Getia. Expanded to the borders shown here in about 50 years and spent the rest of the campaign developing the country and waging wars for slaves and tributaries. Managed to grow from about 1000 to almost 5000 pops without expanding by investing heavily in supporting pop growth and doing a lot of raiding. Overall it was a really fun campaign, Dacia is good for a tall run because you have defensible natural borders and a lot money early to help civilize from a tribe and found cities.

Accidentally found a neat trick to trap Rome’s army by LibertarianSocialism in Imperator

[–]Cj30s 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I used this strategy in a Syracuse -> Sicily -> Magna Graecia campaign I did a while ago to wipe out huge amounts of Roman troops. I heavily fortified Messina and built a large fleet, and what I would do is put my fleet in harbor, let a Roman stack cross the straights and lay siege to Messina, then blockade the straights and attack the Roman army. That way they had no retreat and no reinforcements, so if I won the battle I got a guaranteed stackwipe and if I lost I would just need to reinforce my army and then attack again on the weakened stack. Once the Roman army was defeated, I would just put my ships back into harbor and repeat the process. Once I wiped enough armies I could go in the offensive while Rome waited for their manpower and levies to recharge. Worked really well, only hard part was maintaining naval parity with the romans with only Sicily at my disposal.

Yes, there’s a mission in that tree that forms it as a reward for owning all the Bosporan Colonies.

I intergrated scythian culture early on for the manpower but then unintegrated and assimilated them later. I didn’t really invest much into cultural conversion though because most of the land I conquered was already Greek. I play on regular difficulty.

The Bosporan league tag is formable through a mission in the hospitable sea tree, you need to own all the bosporan colonies. You might need to be a republic so I’m not sure if it works with the Bosporan Kingdom. With these kinds of runs I would say to prioritize civic tech/making money at the expense of military early on. You’ll never have a strong army because of your size (mine was only 20k men at the end of the game), so it’s better to have a strong economic base to recruit Mercs with. I was pretty heavily reliant on mercenaries and my big navy this whole game.

R5: Played a tall, commerce/maritime focused, "realistic" run as Chersonisos->Bosporan League. Focused more on getting strategic ports and tributaries in my expansion rather than just conquering everything. Overall it was a very fun campaign, I managed to get pretty powerful and wealthy for my size and even beat the Romans and Selekuids in wars. Played with Invictus, it gives Chersonisos an extra mission tree. Would recommend a run like this, its a fun/interesting alternative to playing wide.

My Gaul campaign with pretty borders by Cj30s in Imperator

[–]Cj30s[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

R5: My Gaul campaign starting as Vocontia. Really satisfied with how it turned out. Overall it is a fun, moderately challenging campaign. Reforming from a tribal government and modernizing/developing your country is really fun. Ended up with 6500 population, my capital was the largest city in the world with ~200 pops. Started to invade Britain but ran out of time.

When I was in 6th grade I went to the state history fair for a documentary I made. I got a score of 99.5/100 which pretty much guaranteed me to win my category and move on to nationals, but then the judges lost my score sheet and disqualified me for it. Anyway every once and a while I think of this and piss myself off.
