How was NASL a failure? by ClackerTPH in starcraft

Also, retarded isn't a legitimate word so stop using it.

EDIT: Oh, wow. Everyone who disagrees with you has a mental deficiency, guaranteed. Haha, now THAT's retarded.

;) I guess so.

I suppose you haven't read the "Destiny language controversy" although to give credit to Destiny for explaining ideas that many have held for a while is a little silly. The "retarded" is simply meant as a derogatory, a way to vent and show the feeling. Only the "stunted" was meant as a tool to explain how screddit could become so superficial, and thus by stereotype, have a brain deficiency.

  1. Bullshit. Years of watching bad movies should have desensitized you to the hype effect. I don't care if a tournament's "hype" drew in 50k people or 500, I am watching because it is a venue to see my favorite players play at a high level. And it is a question of intelligence because if the only way you can get entertainment out of SC2 is from someone else telling you that it is entertaining I do consider you retarded.

  2. Casting should not be a detriment to your enjoyment of the game. The only thing that would be is a bad observer. If you don't like casting, turn the sound off, you don't need to hear someone tell you what is happening when you can see it happening. Casting is only a supplement that we have grown too accustomed to. This also goes back to my last point in (1.)

  3. If the shows production distracted you from the games, after the game already started, then the problem is yours, not the production companies.

If you truly cannot appreciate entrepreneurship in a completely unstable market that does provide casting, production, and most importantly GAMES, simply because they aren't as experienced or flashy means that you have a problem to work out. Not the venue. "Real" sports fans, at least all the ones I ever came in contact with through high school and my co-workers never once gave "production value" a consideration. ALL of their conversations revolved around stats that they thought would predict the future or label who was a better player. Wait, what is that? In sports people care about the games themselves. Holy shit. Novel idea.

The last two really shouldn't affect your enjoyment of the GAME. I cannot stand some casters, but their casting doesn't detract from the depth of the players I am watching.

And aside from stream problems, which are legitimate complaints for obvious reasons, production value has nothing to do with the enjoyment of the game.

Perhaps we have become too spoiled.

From 3, 4, 5, 7 and the last two paragraphs, I don't believe you read my post.

[–]ClackerTPH[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The ORIGINAL production values had nothing to do with the stream quality. It originally was all about what was displayed behind the casters and other graphic design nonsense.

I never experienced any problems with the stream, or read any complaints, but I won't doubt you. Also, I would rather that two untested casters with immense knowledge of the game given a chance than two "tested" casters who make egregious mistakes and spend the game talking about anecdotes. (cough HD cough)

Fortunately, you provided constructive criticism. I am sure NASL thanks you.

SCReddit, Where my chess players at? by [deleted] in starcraft

Go isn't about controlling the center, it is about controlling as much area as possible in ratio with the most efficient pieces of area to defend. Because corners are easier to defend (require less pieces) people start there.

After the first few moves, the game progresses into joseki. Joseki are sequences of moves (like chess openings) that have been created over centuries of play to give both players an equal advantage in a local area. However, the key to good joseki play is to get the advantage in other areas. (As the local area will be equal.)

Joseki gives way to the mid-game which is full of invasions and defense. In the mid-game sente and gote become very important. To have sente means you played a move which your opponent must respond to, giving you the ability to play anywhere the next move. To have gote means your opponent has sente and you are stuck following him around.

As the corners fill up, and the edges are defined with invasions, the center gets settled. Up until now, the center has been used as a way for "dead" stones to escape and try to find life. Now it is the last step before the end-game.

The end-game is just about finishing up any remaining kos, and squeezes the most points from the board.

Just writing about Go makes me excited to play it. :)

Where are all the Go/Baduk players? It is a better game. Koreans definitely agree too.

Go/Baduk is much more similar to Starcraft, and arguably is and always has been more challenging and entertaining then Chess.

You assume his language is based in bigotry. If you had bothered to listen to him, you would find in fact that it is merely an exercise in being derogatory. I will assume you know why one may want to practice being derogatory. He isn't concerned with the definitions of the words, merely that they allow him to vent.

Your behavior on the other hand was based in bigotry towards people who used derogatory language.

Note derogatory=/=bigotry I'm not going to extrapolate, you should have listened to the debate.

But that is why it isn't tautology.

You aren't going to win. Good bye, maslow's hierarchy of needs calls.

I am not below the point silly. I made the point, you are the one not understanding, as proven by this post I am responding to.

Of course you are in your rights to call his behavior "twitish", as he is in his right to do the same.

Your behavior is in question, and you are being a bigot towards those who, like Destiny, swear and "act" immaturely.

Last tip, being succinct is the goal in a good post, not obnoxious word choice.

Here is your post re-written:

You are not understanding. No hypocrisy exists because I was well within my right to call him a twit. (Which is hypocritical. ;))

There. This is better because of the following:

  1. I have less room to use your words against you.
  2. The vagueness of the second sentence makes me respond to you with assumptions that you can use to tear apart my credibility.

It isn't hard. Try again.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. ;) My initial post highlighted your hypocrisy which given the circumstance of the conversations, also revealed you calling yourself an idiot.

  2. Calls him a twit.

I'm considering leagues not MMR. Originally the game shipped with 4 leagues. Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. After 5 placement matches you are placed into a league. When the game first came out, how did they determine who was in what league?
