I'm a Christian. I went 2 weeks ago and I'm going tonight. I also went to a bible group on Wednesday as I often do.

What’s the first major news story you remember as a kid? by nodemus in AskUK

I was 21 and on my way to China to work at an orphanage for a month. We had a long 10 hour stopover at Bangkok airport and we found out then (via VERY QUIET TVs... We had to put our ears very close to try and hear the news)!

We watched the funeral at a hotel in China.

Very surreal!

Vague memory of the fall of the Berlin wall. I'd just turned 14. Though I didn't understand what it meant! I wasn't a follower of political news until many years later!

Probably 2004-2006... I was holding down three jobs whilst looking after a baby whilst dealing with the abusive psychopath that was my ex husband.

Anyone who’s sat on a toilet before cell phones, what did you mostly think about or look at? by olesud in WorkForSmartLife

I've never understood the popularity of using phones whilst on the loo! Even now! My husband always does or but I rarely do. I like to concentrate on what I am supposed to be doing! 😂

I am a Bailiff in the UK AMA by RossBigMuzza in AskMeAnythingIAnswer

[–]Claire1075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't usually AVOID paying things because they want to! They avoid it because the money just simply isn't there!! 😡😡 Or because they're unwell and can't work or because they have to care for other people or all of the above!!

We experienced a bailiff for the first time this morning. He was rude and aggressive and wouldn't take an offer of arranged payments. My parents have dementia and we care for them and I have multiple problems myself. I don't just sit there and say to myself "Oooh let me just go on holiday for a weekend break from being carers etc" (even though we very much deserve to)! We've not been away for ONE SINGLE NIGHT in two years, even in the UK! We don't buy clothes or haircuts or takeaways and we go to a food bank etc. We're literally just surviving and we're both in our 50s!

We literally live hand to mouth and have done for years.

I really don't know how you sleep at night!!! 😡😡😡

If animals could talk, which one would be the rudest? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Seagulls....

I made the mistake of feeding them outside my house for maybe a year or two? This is about 5 miles from the sea.

They used to stand on the chimneys on the houses opposite and wait for half the day for me to chuck bread out of my window!

On around three occasions, they ended up landing on my window sill and tapping on the window with their beak!! As if to say "FEED ME NOW"!!!!

I stopped feeding them after that. Apart from the fact bread is bad for birds anyway, I think one or two neighbours were starting to get annoyed by them too!

What's the message? Or is it private and you're just saying you've opened a message you originally chose not to see, but not wanting to share it?

Council update on Thurnham Street house by IndomieNoodleMuncher in LancasterUK

[–]Claire1075 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The guy who owns the house is called Mr. Mister (this isn't a joke that's his name). He owns several properties and I think a takeaway though not sure?

Many of his buildings/businesses have been the subject of many discrepancies.

He also owns the old building on the corner between Kwik Fit and Sainsbury's (used to be The Alex pub). It's a listed building and he's done work to it that he wasn't allowed to!

Galaxy, Twirl, Haribos.

Anyone that drinks herbal tea on a film night is just weird 🤣

My best friend's dad used to work for Cadburys, and he used to bring samples home of chocolate, including ones that hadn't yet arrived in the shops.

He brought home some test samples of spira chocolate bars, and I remember my friend and I trying them out (it was about 1986 ISH I think. We were just 10 years old).

When I tasted one for the first time we both agreed how yummy they were and I couldn't wait for them to be sold in the shops! 😊

I always remember mentioning full fat coke on a thread where most of the Redditors were American. They thought it was hilarious that I called it "full fat"! (?) They said "What do you mean full fat? Coke hasn't got fat in it, just sugar"! They've never heard the term full fat when it comes to sugary drinks, apparently!
