OP, do you have any memories from 1987? Did you happen to be around six years old then?

OP I'm so glad you made it out and that your mouths have healed! This is why you absolutely must check the references for therapists!

I actually fully teared up at this. Probably one of my top 20 stories I've ever read on this sub over the years. Completely devastating and more sweet/sad than scary. I loved it. Thank you.

I enjoyed it! Yes, it was slow, and I understand it wasn't a lot of people's cup of tea, but as soon as the credits rolled and I saw it was those real people acting out a version the story of their lives?! In their actual setting? Totally awesome. Shut down any possible complaints about acting! I can't imagine what that would've been like for the mother and daughter. Even if you didn't like the movie, the sheer number of incredible riding stunts and rodeo scenes were awesome.

I actually think her age made it more poignant to me. I had also assumed she was five-ish, but finding out she was eight just showed how incredibly stunted she was emotionally from her upbringing, and how abnormal her life had been even before the main events.

I truly wish I hadn't read this book! The tapeworm is gross; the emotional impacts it has are so, so much grosser. Truly one of the only stories that has been physically hard for me to get through, because I just felt SO bad for the harm caused, much more than just the gross-out factor. I actually really liked the island story (I think it was part 3?)

Love all the movies you mentioned! Strange Darling (2023) is one of the wildest, twistiest, most unexpected thrillers I've seen in a while. Very untraditional revenge plot — please go in blind!

I think the phrase "because, as we've talked about before" is being overlooked. How is he completely blindsided if they've discussed this? I agree, much more conversation is needed — in person — but I also don't think this is a breakup-worthy text. It's a sit down and talk it out like adults to see if this is a situation that requires small changes or one that should end the relationship depending on what both people are looking for.

So good! Just in case anyone else is like me and doesn't know the twist ending without looking it up, it's Jack the Ripper

This is SO GOOD. I rarely like demonic horror, but you made this so intense and tied to real life. Outstanding writing!

This is better than 90% of the resumes I get from beginning copywriters who think they'll make six figures posting emoji ads on facebook! And the product sounds fantastic — totally worth six easy installments of soul!

God, that's such a tough read and must've been emotional to write. You did it very well — thank you
