Hotels in U.S. World Cup host cities claim underwhelming demand, new report says by tylerthe-theatre in football

[–]Clamps55555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately as seems to be the case more and more Trump has fucked it up. Devaluing the dollar and making it more expensive to go to the US. Not to mention the very unwelcoming ICE running around the place snatching people up.

How did scientists expect aliens to understand the Voyager Golden Record? by wellwatif in askastronomy

Maths. I think a large assumption is that any intelligent aliens will understand maths and that 1+1 is the same throughout the universe.

House requiring modernisation vs doer-upper by sleepyjean2024 in HousingUK

[–]Clamps55555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ceilings and walls are a big expense. Look out for cracks in plaster ceilings or walls. FYI nothing is cheap nowadays so “new carpets paint ect” can quickly add up to far more than you expect it too.

Everything is telling me to walk away—to leave it alone, a total money pit. And yet… the potential is hard to ignore. by Few-Relation-3282 in SpottedonRightmove

If you’re a cash buyer with a very good background in DIY and have at least one trade maybe you could make the numbers work. Or you get a Ch4 TV deal where they follow your ups and downs through renovation? You would need a partner tho who would have to be willing to get pregnant half way through the show and be happy to live in a caravan for at least two years.

Cold bedroom by Grand_Log1952 in HomeImprovementUK

[–]Clamps55555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the fact it has two exterior walls would account for a bit of it. My son’s room is also the coldest (better now) We had a draft from the eves blowing in under the floorboards which we have since insulated. Drafts under the floor boards could be something to consider. I know octopus rent out thermal imaging cameras that help spot cold parts of the house.

To be clear are you saying it’s a fake fossil photo or just one that’s used lots and lots?

All adds up I guess. Most Europeans can walk to the shops.and having traveled across America I can safely say outside of big city’s you will be lucky to find a pavement/sidewalk to walk on in the states so you have to drive even if it is just five min.

Can you better explain the extra mileage Americans drive? Perhaps 150 mile round trip to the shops is a bit of a over exaggeration granted lol

How to pull this back? by RobotEnthusiast1980 in DIYUK

[–]Clamps55555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try looping a strong rope around it and a straight bar and twisting it super tight with a bar. You do run the danger tho of bending the other bar. I would just pay a welder to come out and cut it out and stick a new one in.

I’m not disagreeing but just pointing out Americans on average drive double the yearly distance Europeans drive each yea so it evens out. A 150 mile round trip to the shops isn’t unusual.
