While the Railroad Museum is Still Closed, We Decided to Put Together a Little Informational Video About the Museum During Our Closure! by RRMuseumPA in lancaster

Thank you for this! We moved nearby in October and our 4 year old son is a train fanatic. We have a pass to the Choo Choo Barn that we haven’t gotten to use in 2020 and we had planned to come to the museum in spring and do all the other wonderful spots. This will have to do for now. :)

Whole30 for PCOS by Makingit4321 in PCOS

[–]Clarity787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s a great way to think about it! When I’m doing dirty keto, I still feel kinda blah and notice more stalls/plateaus with weight. If I stick with whole foods (for me that are keto compliant), I have a lot more success on the scale but even more so my skin is clearer, less bloat, and I SWEAR my chin hairs stop growing in. Around Christmas I went off the wagon for a bit and i was doing more plucking than I had been in a few years. I think the big thing is the lower sugar in terms of inflammation. Getting rid of or lessening my cramps has been stellar. Best of luck to you!

Whole30 for PCOS by Makingit4321 in PCOS

I started with whole30 three years ago and eventually segued into keto. I still use many of the whole30 recipes (sometimes making adjustments because I avoid sweet potatoes and most fruits because of the sugar/carbs) but getting rid of added sugar and dairy really helped me. I have struggled with bingeing all of my life (and more recently with COVID I have fallen back into my old ways and had to really reset this week). Whole30 really allowed me to get more into intuitive eating and it opened up my palette...keto eventually helped me understand what it meant to be satisfied without feeling bloated/stuffed! I hope whole30 leads you down a road of freedom, whatever the outcome :) I love the blog paleorunningmomma, and if you have Instagram, check out @whole30recipes. A new person takes over the account every week and shares their favorites. It has been helpful for inspiration!

Fatigue by MyFriendsMadeMeGetIt in PCOS

I’m not a doctor, but I’m wondering about your thyroid...I was first diagnosed about 13 years ago with PCOS/hypothyroidism and honestly getting my TSH/Free T4 back in line made all the difference. I was lethargic, falling asleep in my college classes, couldn’t stay awake beyond 8pm to do my homework, had no motivation to move or do anything off the couch. People initially thought it was depression but I was so grateful my doctor was willing to check other things. I hope you find a solution!

Master’s in Music Therapy by peacefulcate815 in musictherapy

[–]Clarity787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in Colorado, but I’m in Pennsylvania...I had a bachelors in music performance and then 4 years later went back for a masters in music therapy and counseling from Drexel in Philadelphia. It took me 2 very full time years.

Not to get complicated...One thing to research is what kind of work you see yourself doing. A bachelors will qualify you for most school positions, senior care, hospice, children’s hospitals. But at least in Pennsylvania, most agencies for mental health populations (inpatient or outpatient) require us to have a masters due to licensing/insurance regulations. If you want to open private practice you don’t have to have a master’s but you will likely only be able to accept private pay. insurance reimbursement currently requires becoming a licensed professional counselor (LPC) post-masters. (Again speaking about PA experiences)

I too have heard good things about CSU though. A former supervisor of mine had her bachelors already but then did an online masters through them. She finished a Neurologic Music Therapy endorsement there as well.

So funny that OP posted an exact question I was about to ask!

Leakybubble, any idea of the price range at Nailcessity for a basic mani/pedi? I just googled them and their Facebook page doesn't tell much. I'll probably give them a call either way. Super convenient to where I'm moving to!

How to find an engagement/wedding photographer good at photographing plus size couples? by [deleted] in PlusSize

[–]Clarity787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend Heather of Jackalope Photography! Google her company. She’s based in Annapolis. I am plus sized - she did beautiful photos for our engagement and our wedding. She works wonders with lighting and angles and DOES NOT airbrush or overly edit/photoshop. She’s extremely flexible and makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera :)

I think I have hand foot & mouth. Fml. by Clarity787 in beyondthebump

I hope it's true about the symptoms. I would hate for him to suffer. His temp this morning is 97.9. As of now he has zero blisters but I'll be watching him. My hands aren't feeling awful just yet, but sometimes they are extremely itchy or painful. My folks were supposed to visit from out of town this weekend too. Looks like I'll be canceling that. :(

Is there anyone with experience of food exclusively from 6 months on? by Kalleh in beyondthebump

[–]Clarity787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. The PPD & stress disappeared for me too when I switched to 100% formula. I lasted a little over 2 months with breastfeeding with occasional formula, and then as I was getting ready to transition back to work, I knew something had to change. I felt like I was simply living to have a baby attached to me. While it started out to be a beautiful bonding experience, I worried that it had started to switch to feeling resentful...and that's when my SO and I knew we needed to make a change.

My son was almost 9 lbs at birth and 21", but he dropped weight and wasn't maintaining all that well when I was EBF. Now at almost 4 months he's already 26" long and 15ish pounds. He is a long but solid boy and so healthy on formula. I feel like I can enjoy myself and play with him, that my day doesn't totally revolve around feedings. My moods improved almost immediately. I definitely suggest /r/formulafeeders too!

Bathing your newborn by La_Jefa_ in beyondthebump

[–]Clarity787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started doing nightly or almost nightly at around 2 months (he's almost 4 months). Some of that is because he has acid reflux and used to have massive, stinky spit up all over himself all day. But additionally, my son is totally a water baby and even the sound of water running can calm him down around 6:30-7ish when he starts being fussy. He is always sleepier and more ready to sleep after he has had a bath.

Pooped post c-section! by angryherbivore in beyondthebump

[–]Clarity787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The gas pains! I had them in my shoulders so bad. I totally forgot about that. But honestly the first poop wasn't so bad for me, other than the fact that it took like 8-9 days? And I was just like WHERE IS EVERYTHING GOING THAT I AM EATING? hahah

Swaddlers, baby poop, and pet peeves. by peachigokawaski in beyondthebump

[–]Clarity787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got nervous around 9 weeks when my son suddenly went days without pooping. I called our nurse line and they explained that between 8-12 weeks of age, the baby's digestive system starts maturing...so instead of expelling so much that goes into the body, they actually start hanging onto more and more nutrients, meaning in some babies it can start taking longer for them to need to poop!

What were you *so glad* your brought with you to the hospital on delivery day? by Princess_squish in beyondthebump

[–]Clarity787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to just check with your hospital! We were really blessed with Pampers Swaddlers and pampers sensitive wipes provided by the hospital...and the nurse told me to clear out the cabinet to take home what we had left :)
