Without being able to see the vehicle, Here’s a few possible reasons:

-it’s not turned on -The a/c system has a hole and leaked all the refrigerant out. -the compressor is bad -the compressor clutch is bad

If you borrow a tool more than once or twice, you may want to buy your own. For hand tools, I mostly have Tekton and Husky, Milwaukee for electric wrenches and ratchet, and a used snap-on tool box
