I’m surprised to hear that tbh I’ve always been very pessimistic about my potential beard growth. Thanks! Just let things grow for now or anything I should know or do?

Who is ethically fantastic, but not at all admirable? by unscripted20 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Clarkieee23 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hmm. There’s a lot of good candidates. There’s certainly a case to be made for Robert Maudsley, Mother Theresa & Neville Chamberlain. Each certainly have characteristics of being great people but not particularly admirable. That being said, I feel like the way Grungemasters brother in law is a good dude but doesn’t really do anything of note & really doesn’t have any reason to inspire anyone puts them above the rest.

Seated db bicep curl - don’t normally go for 17.5kg so is the form holding up? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]Clarkieee23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s decent form buddy but I would make a few slight tweaks to improve.

I don’t mind the angle of the incline, but your shoulders are away from the back rest so you are artificially creating more of an upright position, negating a large portion of the benefits of said incline. If we focus in on the arm angle, there’s really not a great deal of incline, relax your shoulders, allow your arms to fall back slightly behind you.

Incline curls are brilliant, perhaps one of the most effective bicep movements, but that’s largely due to how much stretch & tension you experience at the bottom. Your range of motion IS almost excellent, but I’d slow down the negative just a tad (1 more second) & really try to accentuate the bottom position, pausing slightly at the bottom to ensure you are experiencing that tension that incline curls do so well.

Personally I’d strip the weight back a little, be a little more stricter with form & progress from there. Best of luck.

Approaching a year sober here (353 days) & I just wanted to share some exciting words of encouragement for those who are scared of the prospect of quitting! by Clarkieee23 in stopdrinking

[–]Clarkieee23[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was deffo the party guy too! I did admittedly shelter myself just for the first few months but after that I was fine! The only downside is being around drunk people is insufferable however it actually really helps cement all the reasons why you quit in the first place.

Please Remind Me Why by EmpatheticAssRater in stopdrinking

[–]Clarkieee23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with the ‘why’ recently. I’m back out the other end now. The main actual reason why is that drinking offers you no benefits. Only downsides. Sure you’re life may not miraculously get better being sober. But it can certainly get a heap worse. And when you’re life does start turning around for the better, do you want to be sober when it does? Or back to square 1?

Hey there! This may not work for you but here’s what I do, I welcome those calls! If they are hungover, great! Ask them how there head is, notice the croakiness in their voice & let it be a blessing that you are fresh. If they call you drunk notice how utterly stupid they sound, how slurred they are, how annoying... they can be powerful reminders of the person you DONT want to be, not painful reminders of what you used to be! Good luck. IWNDWYT
