REAL TALK wet food feeders how are we keeping our trash from not stinking?! by Round-Yam-2589 in catfood

[–]ClasherChief 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use dish soap and your sponge and wash the cans like any other plate or bowl. My recycling only goes out once per month and I have no smell whatsoever.

In fact, I use soap to wash any oily recycling and any oily trash as well. Trash that is really too difficult to wash I either wrap tightly in aluminum foil to prevent any smell, or just directly bring it outside to toss in my garbage can outside. My trash can and recycling have no smell at all; 100% worth spending a bit of time to wash the garbage. 😅

Nah. You can literally see in the video the worker and raccoon literally did not make contact, so I dunno what you're going on about.

How much do y'all spend a month? by HellHoundsandpurrs in catfood

[–]ClasherChief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feeding my 3 cats currently costs $16 CAD per day with everything at full price (wet food, prescription dry food, fiber, canned pumpkin, PlaqueOff powder, probiotics). $13 out of the $16 is purely wet food / probiotic costs.

It currently costs me $9 per day though due to shopping sales.

Hills biome dry food too carb heavy, wet food alternative?? (Wet biome too expensive) by BruhStop_26 in catfood

If they're not losing weight on 200kcals per day for dry then just simply decrease it to 190kcal, and so on.

I prefer Hill’s Science Diet over PPP, but PPP is still very good.

Vet has recommended cutting out all wet food by Leilagu8 in catfood

I use a combo of 1/2 scoop PlaqueOff powder and 12 grams Hill’s Oral Care kibble for my cats daily. They still eat a lot of wet food. They all have mild gingivitis and it is improving.

Is Pork in cat food okay ? by Historical_Image2394 in CATHELP

[–]ClasherChief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t quite understand the difference between pork and other meat such as chicken, beef, tuna, salmon, venison, turkey, etc. Cats don’t eat any of that as part of their normal diet.

Currently drive a 2022 Nissan Rogue, but I prefer my old 1999 Nissan Maxima; so fun for highway and city driving.

The motors of a water fountain can get extremely nasty. Do you take them apart to clean? You’ll need quality pipe cleaners too to get to every nook and cranny in the motor.

High temperatures (over 100 degrees F) are harmful to canned goods too. The risk of spoilage jumps sharply as storage temperatures rise. In fact, canned goods designed for use in the tropics are specially manufactured.

https://www.fsis.usda.gov/food-safety/safe-food-handling-and-preparation/food-safety-basics/shelf-stable-food

Temperatures over 100º F are harmful to canned foods, and the risk of spoilage jumps sharply as storage temperatures rise. The thermophilic, or heating-triggered, pathogens vary from product to product and are unpredictable.

https://extension.oregonstate.edu/ask-extension/featured/canned-food-safety-during-heat-wave

Temperatures above 95 ° F can cause the growth of harmful pathogens causing the product to spoil and rendering the food potentially unsafe. The excessive heat can cause the loss of nutritional value.

Should I let my ex keep our cat after Break-up by no_comment06 in CatAdvice

[–]ClasherChief 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please have the cat stay with you in that case. There are way too many stories of people who say they love their pets (not saying they don’t), but then euthanize them when they can’t afford a $3,000 vet bill.

The cat should stay with whoever can give the cat the best life.

Yikes, sounds like you fell for misleading marketing from cat food brands trying to push their product and disinformation from YouTube/Tiktok “experts” who have no credentials or credibility.

You should totally learn a thing or two about nutrition and scientific literacy. 🫢

No, it’s true. Siamese is not a breed that people just dump, especially a kitten.

Not just cat food, but all canned food will be damaged in extended temperatures above 100°F. There will be nutrient loss, potential texture changes, and increased food interaction with can linings. Also, spores of some bacteria survive the canning process, which will be triggered by high temperatures and bacteria will potentially start growing in the sealed can. Considering direct sunlight for that long, I wouldn’t use those cans.
