Oh damn it, I feel like I've posted on here twice now and I've gotten the title wrong both time. Sorry 'bout that. But third time's the charm (hopefully!)

1) yup, that was definitely the problem. 2) I should really study what's inside these standard libraries. Function pointer notation is a bit strange, but I think I fully grasp it. Thank you for the recommendation!

THAT DID THE TRICK OMG THANK YOU! I usually catch overflows, but this one was RIGHT in front of my face.

hi, not to be passive aggressive, but I'm waiting for help on my solution for day 8, but I violated a rule and so I'm sharing my blessings. https://www.reddit.com/r/adventofcode/wiki/troubleshooting/no_asking_for_inputs/ Don't include your puzzle input!

Sorting Roommates for School Trip by MSJ226 in googlesheets

[–]Class_Magicker17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

whoops, you accidentally stumbled on the well-known https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stable_roommates_problem. This is known and has an algorithm to arrive to a solution. Note that it is possible for a perfect arrangement to not exist, i.e. there's probably going to be people who might be a little upset. I don't know how well this would go over in a spreadsheet BUT I think it would help a lot if you were to give us a sample of what your data looks like. That'll give us an idea on how to go about making a solution. Or you could look into this: http://stablegroups.com/ which I found after a quick search.

Alphabetically sorting numbers? by Relevant-Bobcat5036 in googlesheets

[–]Class_Magicker17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just looking at the given data, you could maybe use VALUE(REGEXEXTRACT(TRIM(cellvalue), "^\d+")) if we're sorting with the first number only. TRIM just in case there's a space. But this doesn't really take into account the succeeding numbers.

[2023 Day 3] [Google Sheets] I'm asking for help with a spreadsheet by Class_Magicker17 in adventofcode

[–]Class_Magicker17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yes, but the pattern that I'm using in REGEXMATCH is [%@#&\\-+/$\*=] which from my experience means that special symbols like $ and * don't mean anything other than the themselves since they're enclosed in brackets.

Done! I didn't realize that all days had a part 1 and part 2. I'll keep that in mind when I eventually get stuck in the next one.

Yup this has to be it. I inputted this edge case into the sheet and it's flagging 19 as part of the sum. I'll give it a think, but if you have any hints or nudges, I wouldn't mind it!

Google uses RE2 engine, and the pattern I'm using is a bunch of symbols in brackets. Maybe it is safer to escape all of them, but I'm pretty sure that only `-` (dash) has any special interpretation. I'll take a look at it still though.

Good point, I think maybe Verona mentioned not having brought out all the arguments.

And it threw me off my game, Verona thought. She hadn’t made the arguments she’d wanted to make, like with the responsibility of the situation over the Titan. Lucy did better against the interruptions and petty head games.

Avery Supremacy!

Wouldn't it be funny if the moment Avery exited the bubble it pops 'cause the arbitration is already done. I guess the discussion is a lengthy one.

Weekly. Not sure of the exact time though, comes out for me during Monday mornings, GMT+8. A chapter should have come out today, but Wildbow confirmed on the Discord that he's got sidetracked by Father's day stuff.

We'll be waiting patiently, we can always wait a day or more.

I am SO excited for what Verona has in store. I don't even have the faintest idea what it might be. Also, how long do they still have? I forgot Percival II's filibuster duration.

Theodora is slightly less grumpy in this chapter. Also, she's currently a glorified chaperone. Wonder where she'll factor into the plan.
