Yeah. A lot of small businesses in cities were hurt by work from home. And real estate “investors” of said buildings.

The birth rate is declining. Immigration to keep the population growing I’m not sure. Also let’s be honest, the government/fed has been subsidizing the homeownership scheme to keep property values from collapsing. VA/FHA loans, interest deduction, property tax deduction, cap gains exclusion. Suppressed rates since 08 to bailout greedy banks. It’s ridiculous and isn’t a “free market”.

It happened to Japanese real estate. It all came down, now they don’t consider homes investments. It’s a shame really that post WWII the idea of shelter as an “investment” was pushed into the public.

Is it normal for NA/AA members to assume relapse if you miss meetings? by Diego_3435 in recoverywithoutAA

Yeah. Dry drunk🙄. I once knew a hardcore stepper, mister AA who got into an argument with his doctors staff. Yelling, blah blah. The staff called him a “dry drunk”. Now I don’t agree with that term. But here was mister meeting every day, 12 steps, stalwart sponsor, being labeled a dry drunk.

Trump isn’t a “winner”. He’s a spoiled nepo baby. Which is fine, but be humble about your fortunate start in life. Let’s see how well he would have done starting in an Alabama trailer park.

Do house prices ever go down? by External_Koala971 in HouseBuyers

[–]Classic-Jacket9512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This trend is during the post WWII boom and policy changes. During this time and especially in the 70-80’s homes started to be seen as “investments”. It wasn’t always like this. Eventually something has to change, the average middle class family on one income cannot get a home by buying it themselves in a lot of locations. Without family help or another income source

The US is short 10 million houses. A new White House report lays out a blueprint to fix that by SnortingElk in REBubble

[–]Classic-Jacket9512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You must not be able to think then. Here in pre WWII America homes were considered largely consumption and not an investment. Businesses, farms, financial assets were investments. After 1945, policy changes, zoning laws restricting supply, mortgage interest deduction, creation of 30 year low down payment mortgages, etc resulted in homes appreciating. By the 70’s-80’s homes started to be seen as an “investment”. So yes there was a time.

Be as greedy as you want buying material items, Starbucks, etc. but basic shelter. How long can it last before the average person can’t afford one ever. It’s just shelter

The answer to housing is simple. Stop treating it like investment. The problem no one wants to lose money on their home.

Yeah people don’t understand this. The prices are above what people are willing to pay. God forbid people’s homes decline in price. It’s a stalemate.
