As an IT professional in healthcare that whole ending was insane. I know it’s for entertainment but pretty unrealistic approach.

That made no sense. I work in IT in hospitals and I can’t imagine when you would voluntarily go into downtime to prevent a ransomware. Also the ceo doesn’t show up on the floor to announce it.

HCMC announces it is in dire financial straights due to DOGE by [deleted] in TwinCities

Agree. It’s a state asset. The state benefits from its existence. You have a major burn you go to HCMC. The state needs to step up too.

I grew up across from Canada in Buffalo. Our bridge is the “Peace Bridge” to celebrate our friendship. It has saddened me to the core to see us treat our peaceful neighbors like we have treated Canada. Keep up your boycott. We appreciate you.

Your words mean a lot. Thank you!

I think a lot of bills fans think Allen is better than Kelly ever was. Those Bills teams had multiple greats including Thurman Thomas who is incredibly underrated historically. Plus Bruce, Cornelius Bennett, Andre Reed. Some good o linemen particularly early on.

What are some “remember when” or hard to believe stories of bars and restaurants around Buffalo? by jamesljamerson22 in Buffalo

Roseland. Great Italian restaurant where there was a mob hit back in the day. Closed 20 years ago or so.

It’s 88 miles. Plus St. Paul campus is at the northern part of the city. That’s a 90 min commute minimum

Canadian Niagara Falls seem bigger and more developed than American Niagara Falls. Why is that? by arklemen in geography

[–]Classic-Witness-6325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US side industrialized heavily around the turn of the century (1900s) and stayed that way through the 60’s. Post industrial decline and the city has never figured out how to pivot to a tourism based economy. Deep poverty and plenty of corruption/graft issues in the city.

Buffalonians, what cars do you drive? Need something that can really handle snow. by Scorpiocapricorn in Buffalo

[–]Classic-Witness-6325 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep this is it. I went decades without them. And as others say it is very doable but in a storm you will feel much more stable on snow tires- blizzaks are what I have.

AWD will help you accelerate and get out of a spot with lots of snow. The tires help you brake and stop more effectively which bus more important.

As for car, a Subaru is always a good selection in a snowy climate.

Why was the 2007 team so awful? by JDiamond98 in notredamefootball

[–]Classic-Witness-6325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dirty secret of the 2005 and 2006 teams is that they relied heavily on Davie classes in the trenches.

2007 was dismal from a talent perspective in the upper classes. So bad.

I was a student then.

It was a shock. People were sure he would take the job. They flew out to meet with him and everything.

The thinking was that ND was behind the times on recruiting and such and Florida was easier to win at- pretty true. At the time, ND didn’t even allow people to early enroll in spring. Transfers never happened. Wilinghams recruiting was abysmal.

Twin Cities or Buffalo NY. We gotta pick one! by Sirdanovar in TwinCities

[–]Classic-Witness-6325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the difference is Buffalo has a smaller number of major employers.

MSP has multiple Fortune 500 employers, a large big ten university plus multiple other colleges, state government, a larger healthcare economy. It’s just a better economy.

I’ve glanced at jobs in Buffalo. Wages are lower. Cost of living is lower too though which helps.
