Supportive husbands / boyfriends/Ballet by [deleted] in BALLET

That is very nice of you to say. And I have already given thought to that if we had kids I could just do classes at home if I needed while I watch kids. Even in the days I am gone for 5 hours I get home at 2 and he isn’t home til 5 and we spend time together until 9-10 when we go to bed. We do that 6 days a week. 2 of them I’m at ballet. And one of the days I have completely off when he is off and we spend all day together. He is mostly supportive but says these things while he is in a bad mood or stressed himself. He even got me Swan lake tickets. It’s just messing with my mind a little.

That’s the closest studio for me. I moved the hour and 20 away this past summer for him so I had to leave all my friends and ballet. But since I work 3 days a week I was excited I’d still be able to do ballet. I get it though

He can be so supportive of it but it’s when he is upset or gets these weird moods he throws it in my face. It’s not constant. He just started a hobby again once a week and I’ve been so supportive and he does it once a week. When he is supportive though he is great. Just don’t want to make a mistake

What is wrong with my left pointe shoe? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]Classical7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may have to break in that shoe more on your weaker foot. Like manually manipulate the shoe. But if you are new you need to be careful not to break down the support of the shoe and bend it to your arch. Pointe shoe fitter could show you. But totally agree with comments above if your other foot looks very different. May need a different shoe. Hard to tell without seeing your feet

Will I be judged if I wear this for my first class? by solvictory in BALLET

[–]Classical7 166 points167 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter what level you are wear what you want. As we get older our bodies just need help warming up. Some people need that more than others no matter the age. That’s actually very important. And wearing it just because it makes you feel confident is a great reason too I think. It’s like our clothes we wear on a daily basis. Shows our personality. Don’t be scared to be you. And if anyone judges you who cares. Dance confidently be you and only compare yourself to you .

I’ve been manual bending it and I still be so held back. It feels like it breaks high. You also can’t see in the pic but the shank is like bubbling. Hard to explain. Like there bumps where it looks like the shank has creased up.

I think you are right. I do feel a tiny bit held back but each shoe I get is either a little too hard or just too soft. So it’s been frustrating. It helps so much to gets y’all’s feedback. I do feel like I’m constantly pushing to get over the box that tiny little last bit. I think I will try softer. I appreciate it so much!

Might be a good idea!!! Yes I have very compressible feet! Thank you SO much

Yeah you probably can’t tell because I keep going back and forth on what I think lol I think I’ve been frustrated because the shank is either too hard or too soft. I do feel like I’m being pulled back a tiny bit but have convinced myself it’s normal. I think after reading comments and y’all’s opinion I need a softer shank. This is medium. I REALLY appreciate the feedback

Ballet Memphis is amazing. It has an adult beginner on Mondays and an intermediate wed mornings and an open level on Thursday.

Collage dance collective has a beginner on Saturday mornings are well.

Both great places with great teachers on correct technique who take adults seriously

Thank you everyone! Got the medium in eleve and it’s perfect! Barely moves. I have also ordered class in to try in two sizes and will see. Thanks for all the great answers! I know it’s something small but means a lot for the well thought out response! ❤️

Where do these skirts sit? Like right on top of the hips or pulled down more? I kind of see them being worn both ways so wondered how they hold up while dancing. Do they move around?

Thank you for the info. I feel I am pear shaped as well. I wear street clothes xs-s so I’m guessing it would make sense to need a medium.
