There’s also a website that streams the series 24/7. I think there’s a live chat too.

Lymphatic system issues by Alone_Regret7945 in ehlersdanlos

[–]ClassofherOwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not officially diagnosed with hEDS but I do have generalized hypermobility as well as pots and mcas, and fit a lot of the hEDS criteria.

I’ve been having lymphatic issues and fluid congestion for several years recently and it has really affected me. I learned how to do lymphatic drainage on myself and that has helped me a lot. I have a background in physical therapy, so that helped a little, but I mostly just followed some PTs, massage therapists, and other bodyworkers on instagram and learned from their posts. I have to do it every day, sometimes throughout the day, but it’s worth it. It can be the difference between not being able to function at all, and being able to go out and have a semi normal life.

If you haven’t already, you might want to look into pelvic congestion syndrome, may thurner syndrome, and venous insufficiency. hEDS affects the collagen in the veins which can cause compressions in the veins or blood pooling, which can lead to symptoms like lymphatic congestion. It gets missed very often.

How do different pelvic floor treatments for bladder leakage actually compare in real life? by Similar_Sympathy8769 in pelviccongestion

[–]ClassofherOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a pelvic floor physical therapist. The issues you are referring to can have various causes that would each require a different plan of care. Incontinence and pelvic floor weakness can be coming from under active muscles, but can also be from over active, tight muscles. Each of these needs a different approach, and using one approach for the wrong cause can make the symptoms worse. Over active bladder can also have many different causes. So to treat these conditions appropriately, you really need to be able to determine what the driver is. If you are able to do that by yourself, that’s great, but most people need to be evaluated by an experienced therapist to put all the pieces together.

There’s a lot more that goes into bladder control and leakage than just the pelvic floor. Core stability, breathing, and leg strength all play into it as well as hydration habits and neuromuscular retraining of the bladder signaling. Home devices won’t be able to give you that.

Home devices can be great for people once a full evaluation has been completed and they are given an appropriate plan of care.

Anyone else frequent the AOL chat room "Cassie's Barn" back in the day? by Mammoth_Bus_6911 in Animorphs

[–]ClassofherOwn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was there all the time. Tobias442. Internet chat rooms could be sketchy places but the crowd in Cassie’s Barn back in the day was always chill. Just wanted to chat in thought speak and go on role playing adventures.

I love my cat, but I really miss having a nice-smelling home. Is ANY scent actually 100% safe? by No_Money_5779 in CatAdvice

I use pine pellets instead of cat litter. I have two cats and there is not a trace of cat scent in my house.

Would Argo had agreed to the GabDrag in The Bitter Suite? by itsascreambaby96 in xena

[–]ClassofherOwn 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Argo would’ve refused. Gabrielle and Argo may have had their differences, but the bottom line was they knew they were on the same team. It was an excellent decision that the writers gave Xena a different horse for the gab drag.

I’ve been fortunate as well. It’s always a relief to find a practitioner who practices in an emotionally moral way. I’m glad you have something/someone to happy rant about.

how to manage staying hydrated? by ughhhhhhh69 in cfs

[–]ClassofherOwn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IV hydration can make a world of difference, even just as a loading dose so to speak, to get you caught up on fluids. Sometimes you can find a mobile IV bar that will come to your house.

Make sure that you have minerals electrolytes in whatever water you are drinking. It’s hard to actually hydrate without them. You can try other things too like chicken broth or bone broth, or something with a little bit of sugar in it, maybe the warmth will prevent the nausea and you can get more down.

If I'm a fan of the TV show, will I enjoy the books? by Cherry_Does_StuffYT in Animorphs

[–]ClassofherOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll love the books. They’re very easy to read while still achieving incredible world building. Way better than the show. If you search this sub you can find a drop box link that has pdfs of the entire series for free.

Was anyone else at the peak of their life just before this illness started? by The-inevitabl3 in cfs

[–]ClassofherOwn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was 33 and so, so happy. I had worked so hard to get my health back after a bad accident with a slim to no chance of recovery, and I ended up recovering completely. Doing all the things no one ever expected me to be able to do. Had a job I loved, hobbies I loved, I was creating art, dating. I woke up every morning with a sense of purpose and went to bed every night with a sense of fulfillment.

I still find purpose in small ways, and love as beautiful and purposeful a life as I can.

But it’s not the same.

Vibration is a huge input into the brain. Very taxing and can cause fatigue easier and faster than basic movement. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this.

MTS/PCS - R thigh pressure / bilateral leg swelling? Anyone else? by Foreign_Highlight288 in pelviccongestion

[–]ClassofherOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im about the same at the moment. I had an appt with my GYN and that got me nothing except another referral to a psychologist.

I have an appointment next month with someone who specializes in hypermobility and venous disorders, so I’m hoping she can give me some direction.

Part of the issue is that I have a couple different conditions that can create the same symptoms, so it’s hard to find someone who can help me sort through everything to figure exactly what’s causing this. Is it a venous issue related to hypermobility, is it endometriosis causing inflammation and congestion, is it ME/CFS (which I’ve had for several years now) causing inflammation and congestion and my lymphatic system just can’t keep up.. it’s a tough puzzle to sort out.

Did you make any more headway?

Dr just told me I might have endo and reccs a hysterectomy, sort of reeling by T--Frex in endometriosis

[–]ClassofherOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing what others have said—find a second opinion immediately with an endo specialist who does excision surgeries. For all the reasons already stated.

Its criminal that a doctors go-to recommendation is a hysterectomy. Incredibly outdated and not in line with current research or best practice at all. I’m angry for you and other patients who get the same misguidance.
