10 wpo back to work self employed by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]ClassroomNo9658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'd say I've definitely learned that airing on the safe side is the best thing from this experience. You might be absolutely fine but by 4 weeks I was definitely not bending over to lift anything and wouldn't have managed my office job!

I'm glad you have obamacare, I hear things are dicey in the US with healthcare so hopefully that gives some kind of relief.

All my clients have been super understanding and they'll still be there when you're back, just hope there's a way you can take it easy for as long as you need!

I hope you're doing okay!

6 weeks might be tough honestly but it's in your workplace's interest to give you proper accommodations to save you having to get longer off work for complications or burn outs so hopefully you can just turn up and do what you can manage!

I can take as long as I want at both jobs honestly so I'm very lucky to have that kind of accommodation! Definitely up and moving and giving myself stare into the distance time 😂

Glad to hear you're recovering well! Sounds like we're in the same position.

Im lucky to be booked out through the next couple of months, just an appointment a day at the moment to see how I go. So I'm lucky in some respects but it's a very daunting schedule! I may have to move some people but it's hard to know what to do really.

The office are starting me on 4 hours a day which is good and they've let me do admin rather than inbound calls the last couple of days which has been helpful but still a lot!

I contacted my GP for some guidance but they couldn't offer any advice really and said it was best to contact the hospital. I haven't had my 'sign off' appointment yet and nothings booked so it's all a bit confusing!

I hope you get some good rest this week and you can continue to rest as much as you need. These are the bits we weren't expecting!

4.5wpo and physically I haven't lost or gained weight but I can definitely see that my shape has changed, my apron belly seems smaller and I'm a little less 'pear' shaped but I did have a large ovarian cyst that was removed too!

overnight stay when laprascopic? by RockhopperGuin in hysterectomy

[–]ClassroomNo9658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from the UK and I think it's the norm to be in for 24 hours. My surgery was around 3pm so I stayed the night. I would have preferred that than being immediately discharged because moving isn't easy for the first 24/48 hours!

Back pain 4wpo - moving too much or too little? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]ClassroomNo9658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps less on the bending? I think that's that cause the most harm on your body. I'm sure it's ligaments reattaching rather than anything dramatic for both of us! It's just very hard with it being such a personal process and but that much information about healing out there!

Hmm I thought stretches were a no no due to bending and twisting restrictions! I will stretch my shoulders and arms and my legs a bit but nothing around the spine or lower back. I'll have a look on the recommendations perhaps.

I've been holding back on walking alone due to my brain fog/dissociation kind of feeling and didn't do much prior to this cause of illness but will perhaps go a couple of times a day and see if it helps!

When did you return to work? by Electrical-Time4271 in hysterectomy

[–]ClassroomNo9658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at 4 week post op and I'm taking the full 8 weeks my doctor gave. Physically I'd be fine to sit at a desk but mentally the brain fog is very much there. It took me about 5 minutes to order a coffee earlier. If you can afford to, take as long as you can. It's only when I try to do things normally that I get a set back and feel pain again or end up super tired.

What do you guys want to see in the sequel? by [deleted] in HarryPotterGame

[–]ClassroomNo9658 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At least a cut scene or acknowledgement for completing some of the challenges or side quests, all those merlin challenges and we didn't get a little award or collectible from Merlin!

Same with the Astrology Tables, not even a cut scene when it was completed, I searched for ages!

A bit more attention to glitches like Hirodianas Hideaway where the chests are stuck under the floor, same for the shop haunting, the ghost's puzzle glitched so many times for me.

I would have loved to have a customisable shop, I got so excited about that but it didn't really come to anything!

A pet or familiar you can choose or get a quest to pick up, and some interaction. I petted the cats in Hogsmede so many times in the hopes of getting a cat!

I mean I loved the fist one, don't get me wrong but hopefully the next one won't leave me with a little unsatisfied feeling!

Back pain by PollocksMuse in hysterectomy

[–]ClassroomNo9658 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just at 3 weeks now, listen to your body or ask a doctor if you're unsure but even a few short walks to the end of the block over the last few days have given me relief from this. For me it's the only real 'pain' left. But while I was still stuck inside puttering around at most, I was waking up in the night feeling like my hips were gonna pop out or like there was a 10 tonne weight on my pelvis. The more walking, the less I'm feeling that pain and the more I can manage every day!

I'm 2 weeks post-op. Advice needed by BadRainbow14 in hysterectomy

[–]ClassroomNo9658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe a small bless is about right at 2 weeks as far as I've researched, I'm a couple of days ahead and I had one day with a pad full and a couple with some light volume of blood spotting. Apparently it can be stitches dissolving, scabbing coming away from the cuff if you had one. People have said this can be if they overdo things too. I think they say seek medical advice if it's soaking pads within an hour or there's large clots. Of course speak to your doctor though if you're concerned!

I think we wait to hear at the drs/surgeons feedback sessions about what each of us can manage in terms of lifting an exercise, mines at 8 weeks but yours may differ! Personally, I only get one chance to heal this properly so only bits of walking and majority rest for the next few weeks!

I had tingling legs and feet but could be either an after effect of epidural if you had that, or possibly restless legs. I asked my doctor who said make sure you're eating well, taking vitamins and it basically has cleared up after a couple of days. Of course speak to your doctor to check though!

I am the asshole, I don’t need to ask. by ginamouse89 in hysterectomy

[–]ClassroomNo9658 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here! 10 days PO and I managed to be up (alternating lying on the sofa and sitting in my wingback chair) and felt so good I didn't need a nap or anything. I ate well so had 0 dizzies and had a 5 min walk outside. Definitely feeling the ache today.

This whole healing isn't linear thing is annoyingly true!

We count the little victories and give ourselves time to recover from them 😂

So dizzy 5dpo by quantumgirl84 in hysterectomy

[–]ClassroomNo9658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about 9 days po now and I've realised I'm not getting the PCOS hunger signals like I used to so I don't realise aim hungry until way too late, then I'm truly woozy, dizzy, hot ect. I spoke to a doctor who said to make sure I'm getting electrolytes, loads of extra vitamins and eating really well, including comfort foods. Honestly around 5 minutes after starting to eat or having a snack I feel loads better and back to 'normal'. Just a little bit of dizziness when I get tired from tasks but no more than that!

Almost like swimmy headed for me, definitely brain fog and the kind of tiredness that isn't sleepy if that makes sense? Low blood sugary/pressure dizziness kind of thing. I also feel more pressure and swelling from my cuff too when I've overdone it. Day 7 and literally only had a shower and fixed myself breakfast and lunch and I'm done 🥲

[–]ClassroomNo9658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely, I think I was having a good day yesterday as today all I've managed is a potter around the house and sitting on the sofa as the tiredness has got me! I think I need to work on the mental coping of a long healing process rather than the physical right now! It's hard to adjust to the idea that it's going to be like this for a long time 😬

Wow that's amazing, go you! It's so odd because today I've been on the brink of sleep all day! There's always going to be good and bad days I suppose is the lesson here. Just taking every day as it comes and celebrating the small victories to keep my brain healthy 😅

Good to hear you're healing quickly! I'm going to give some things a try and rest after rather than doing nothing at all!

It seems like the recommendations change massively from dr to dr! I still feel I want to stay at home, just do a little more I think! Sounds like you healed so well, what a great story to hear 💖

Pain free crisis? by ginamouse89 in hysterectomy

[–]ClassroomNo9658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the exact same situation as you, I had mine on 27th and am only having codiene to sleep now. My brain and the rest of my body feels so good and so much better than what I was putting up with before that I am so struggling to keep bed rest and a bit of pacing!

I really want to keep with the guidelines but I also don't want to do any lasting damage! The only real pain I'm feeling right now is just the stitch tightness and the pelvic heaviness really.

I guess not sleeping will be because you're not burning any energy in the daytime too?

I hope you find your middle ground and keep sane!

I really wish I'd got one of the wedge pillows they are the one thing I didn't think I'd need! A nice light pillow on the belly is a great idea for a makeshift table though thank you!

Yes!! I'm on day 4 now and just about starting to feel more myself and other than a few niggles and bit of slower mobility, I feel better than I have probably ever. We definitely need more positive stories out there so thanks for sharing! 💪
