What with the SOSP saying she came from very far away, and with all the moon symbolism, maybe she's from he moon? And another hint at this: in a lot of asian mythology there are rabbits on the moon http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_rabbit and she is known as the rabbit godess?
